I remember not long ago, he did a great long sprint and scored against Germany in Euro, running from his own box to opponents box. I believe he could still out sprint many players over long distance if he wants too, but sure due to his age he may need a longer recovery time after the long run.

Yeah, consecutive sprints I guess. Particularly when up against the faster wingbacks in the league. But as I said, I don't think that matters too much anyway. His initial sprint speed is what's important. And his reactions. Which I think he still has.

His 2nd goal was so brilliant and quick. A half chance to turns into an easy goal for him because of his movement, perfect first touch to give the defender no chance, and taking the finish so quickly. Stuff like that is so rare and something I think Greenwood especially can learn from.

Obviously a great start for him, the occasion had the potential to be emotionally draining for him and the team but as expected he handled it very well. With him and Cavani we have the best movement up front in the league.

I just realized that I didn't love any other player nowhere near as much as him since he left. They were only pretenders, and now the King is back.

If I remember correctly, the year is 2009 when people first started saying Cristiano Ronaldo was finished.

To be honest he's goal tally had gone down and, between June 2008 and June 2010, he scored one single goal for his national team and that was in a friendly match against Finland, 6 February 2009, the day his captain armband became permanent.

We have come a long way since then but still every year haters keep repeating "Ronaldo is finished", hoping they'll be right this time.

If they keep repeating it forever, they'll eventually get it right one day.

The things is it's 2021 now and he's 36 years and 7 months but, boy, it sure looks like haters still have to wait for the end of the decade.

Like Toby the Devil said: "You must be feeling a right bunch of nitwits!" "Eternity is a heck of a long time!"

He's absolutely right. We still lack that killer instinct, and sometimes let our foot off the gas.

After 8 years of watching attacks break down, we have learned not to take these finishes for granted. Inspirational mental strength to pounce on the chances

Apparently you cannot play Bruno with him

Apparently him playing our number #9 would have a negative impact on the rest of the team :lol::lol:

Crazy for anyone to ever suggest it. There was no point of Ronaldo being there is very true, they're a team in transition now and you don't get someone like Ronaldo if you're in transition. You get him to guarantee the goals to help bring you over the line for the big trophies, which is hopefully where we're at

What can you say? It's what he does. Both goals were keeper errors but he knew where to be on the first and got the perfect touch on the second. He's ruthless in a way nobody else in the Premier League can be.

He was always going to be somewhere between good and very good. The days of 50 goal seasons are gone but this is Ronaldo, he was never going to be anything less than that.

#7 looks so natural on him. Would have not been the same if he was wearing #28 or something. First time I'm ever seeing him play for United(started supporting Utd in 2009 Oct), and I always regretted I never saw him play. Its truly magical. Viva Ronaldo!

He was sublime. You can't overstate how much of an impact he has on this squad. When we hit a slump he dragged the team back into shape. He's the difference between a boring draw and an entertaining victory. Good runs off the ball, created space for other players, got players involved with good passing and movement and a great finish through the legs of the goalie. We have our #7 back :D

Was told Juventus will be better team without him, and he would struggle to score goals in PL.

Sometimes people are just clueless.

I think what he still has, is that initial burst of pace. That quick reaction time. Obviously, over longer distances, he won't have the speed over many of the faster CB's and wingbacks in the league. But I don't think he's necessarily going to need that when you consider where he's going to be playing.
World class sprinters lose about .2 seconds over 100m between the age of 28-30 in their prime and age of 40 (tail end of career)

Ronaldo isn't a sprinter but he's taking so good care of his body his form rivals any professional athlete.

I'm not concerned about his top speed at all considering his physical health and nurture. The main concern for CR7 is recovery and wether or not he'll be able to sustain a high degree of intensity for 90 minutes several times a week for a whole season.

And going by his career so far, that's a minor concern

Great interview, it's natural how he talks about winning the league and UCL. He's a total winner.

I can't remember the last time one of our players or coaches talked about it. Nice to see him bringing the standard back.

Did he give it to them?
He promised the first player (can't remember who it was) who came up to him that we would swap, then immediately after that another player came up to him and he had to tell him he already agreed to swap with someone else

His second goal was what he used to do in his prime alot for us and Madrid. Its so much harder than it looks. To take a through ball on (after a high intensity sprint) with your right and then take it past the defender and hit it low and hard with your left is something not many players can do.

We shouldve went all in for him when he left real in 2018.

Anyway; what a time to be alive.

It wasn't appropriate with the team and manager we had back then IMO. This now is a marriage made in heaven.

That's not an awful lot of time (though for 100m it could be the difference between 3rd to 1st). The analogy still works, he doesn't seem to have lost much pace, is mobile and actually was doing his old tricks and flicks like of old. People were going on about how he isn't that dynamic player anymore and that he's just a goal poacher. But he showed he still had speed, had flair and was actually very good in the build up. Madness!

I love him.

I hate that we missed his prime years.
I will always hold a grudge against Madrid. That said, I still think 07/08 and 08/09 was the best Ronaldo. Sure he became deadlier and more effective after that but to me he was the ultimate/complete footballer in those two seasons. Perfect combination of flair and everything else. That’s just a personal opinion cause I know trophies and every other metric states otherwise.
