Like Fred’s personality and tenacity but that’s about it. He is CLEARLY not good enough to start here. He can’t pass, can’t tackle, not fast. I hope he stays on as a squad player but my word his lack of quality is so blatant.

This guy is so bad. I don't know what is wrong with him. Can't pass, can't even put himself in a position to receive the ball and protect it. He is always outpaced, can't tackle. He is so bad, so bad. What was he doing in off season? Drank beers and watched TV? He is so unfit and should not play. How bad are other guys if this guy is a starter!?

Needs to be dropped. Has been a liability in every game & his performance today was useless.

You can't control a midfield with this guy in the squad. Too inconsistent on the ball and he's horrific defensively. Gets bypassed so easily whether it's a drop off the shoulder or a quick 1-2.

Will cost us this season if he's playing every game which he will with our lack of options.

How long will we have to put with absolute dog shit performances in midfield? Should’ve been hooked instead of Pogba.

Has had a really bad start to the season. He looks like the player we saw right at the start of his Utd career. Incredibly sloppy touches, playing people into trouble, giving it away. His work-rate and enthusiasm are not enough to make up for it currently. Maybe needs to come out of the side for a bit.

I don't know why he is so scared with ball on his feet..

Complete opposite to what Brazillian players are

I predict that at least 1 person is gonna show us stats that tell us that actually he put on a masterclass today.

It may be a cognitive bias, but I felt like he had so many moments where he was actually in the right position to win the ball, tackled an opposition player... and got shook off like a noisy fly without even slowing them down.

Nervous, chaotic, but got stamina for two players in midfield... that's why he'll start many times this season.

I'm normally that person

But I'm starting to come round to the fact that he's not very good.

That’s the thing he gets there most times but hardly ever wins the ball, a lot of the time he actually pulls out of the tackle. Very poor.

McTominay is easily better, should be a squad player at best again.

Yup - needs a little more strength. Applies the pressure well, then gets bypassed. If Adama does it, it's sort of expected, I won't give him too much shit for that but it seems like anyone that's reasonably strong can hold him off.

Same thing with the passing as well - he racks up the progressive passing stats because he's a decent enough passer when noone's around him. As soon as someone's close by, he becomes shit.

It's not really cognitive bias either, it shows up in the stats. 13th percentile across all midfielders for getting dribbled past (2x per 90).

He is just plain average with absolutely no redeeming quality whatsoever .

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
It’s not even his passing/first touch that’s the biggest worry - he’s always had a few shockers in his locker every game - it’s his ball winning. He can’t get close to anyone on the counter - we’re now playing much higher up the pitch and he’s getting destroyed anytime people come near him. He’s looking slow anytime anyone tries to go by him. I’ve defended him before on here as the criticism of him is always over the top ignoring his good qualities but been atrocious this season.

I have the exact same feeling with Fred that I did with James, likeable guys, will try their hardest but should never be wearing a Manchester United top,

I will be extremely happy the day he leaves , he’s 28 years old , Fred will not get any better, this is Peak Fred literally

Yeah he's rubbish and a real weak spot for us. Just isn't particularly brilliant at anything is he?

Needs to go.

It happens naturally, he's suddenly surrounded by players who have more quality than he does so his relative lack of comparable quality stands out more.

Terrible, he makes whole team unstable. Every corner for us is a chance for other team, he can't stop any attack. Even when he is not under pressure, he passing is poor. Loses so many tackles which puts under pressure.

Very poor midfielder and shouldn't be playing for us.

He was fine today. His job was to chase and harry, McTominay's to be in the right place to clean up. Both were OK without being brilliant and we dominated possession as a result. When we were getting cut open was when our midfield was too far up, which had to be based on instructions.

Nope. Not cognitive bias; happened enough to be a point of order. He is where he is supposed to be, but still ineffective in winning the ball. Frustrating.

He’s really taken a dip, but McFred is still what I’d go with to at least start games.

I dont, and never will, understand how this lad is playing at this level. He's Eric Djemba-Djemba levels of awfulness. Im in awe for all the wrong reasons.

He's not very good is he. Glad McTominay is back, I dread to imagine him and Pogba in a midfield 2 today.

I don't rate him or McTominay as anything more than squad players but I didn't think either were that bad today, Fred had some decent little give and go's and got stuck in as usual, I mean nothing special but functional.

This, I was mentally comparing to him earlier. Funny thing is that Djemba-Djemba only retired on Friday. How hes played this long is beyond me.

Fred is by no mean good enough to be a starter for us. He is so slow and sloppy with the ball. If we continue to play Fred it may cost us the title. We have to solve this issue immediately. Can’t continue to play Fred from the start.
