Mr Hindsight. We had to pull Fred or McT early. We got away with this.
Well yeah, the results and performance is what matters, not whether you like the player or not and it's kinda undeniable that the subs worked so Ole obviously knows better than is, I'm happy to admit I wasn't a fan of them coming on at the time but that's why you give the players a chance before deciding if it was a good sub or not. Like I say, I'd see it more as West Ham would have gotten away with it if they'd managed to nick anything.

Ronaldo's ego almost cost us today, twice we could have had easy goals if he'd just squared it to Mason. Bit gutted about that. Hope it won't be a recurring theme.

Thankfully De Gea with a rare display of penalty saveage turned up when we needed it the most. Lingard with a beauty. Redeemed himself if ever held in contempt.

Ole's tactics were great. Felt we bossed the game despite our Fred issue. Could maybe have subbed earlier in the second half, but that's just nitpicking.

Kiss Ole's ass, apparently? Fred is clearly pathetic and still gets the starting role.

I don't know if you noticed but when Fred was subbed, everybody shook his hand in the stands, he passed right by DvB and Donny looked the other way. DvB is PISSED.
Interesting! I didn’t catch that. Can’t see DVB staying beyond another transfer window at this rate. I do feel a tad sorry for the guy.

Yes, it was very unfair to him - to neither sell nor let play. If Ole thinks DvB isn't any good (and the bar is very low if he is worse than Fred) he should have let him leave. This isn't right.

I wanted Lingard on. He is quality. The problem i had was that Fred and McT stayed on till the last minutes and the former was poor. We needed to be more attacking. Bigger picture is we got away with this. The goalkeeper was man of the match on the forum ratings. And the team gets 6.3 out of ten. I averaged 5.9.

How a win gets in the way of seeing the bigger picture.

Yeah I agree on that point, but I'm not really sure what Ole cab do about it. Donny hasn't exactly done much to say he deserves to start, that said Fred has been so poor I can't imagine he could do much worse.

I’ve not seen the replay yet as I was at the game but that bullshit penalty decision at the end still has me seething. Was it a penalty? Looked like there was nothing Shaw could do!

A lot of debate about the performance. Yes we had lots of possession and kept them pinned back but we didn’t score when we were dominant. It was all too slow and sideways. Scousers or City would have been 3 up by halftime. We jogged through the first half. Atkinson is such an ABU.Now we know if a player is two yards from the ball and the ball is passed onto his arm, it’s a penalty. Bet it won’t be if it was us doing the passing. Zouma trod on Pogba’s foot and we got nothing, AWB was sent off in the week for that.

As long as Ronnie keeps scoring at least a goal every match, being pissed at him is going to be hard to sell. Ronaldo is a GOAT and in-the-box striker, he isn't expected to be passing to anybody for the goals. Greenwood will have to find his own opportunities for scoring. That's just how it is.

A sensible overview. Altho i think all the pen decisions were spot on.

I stand by saying the subs ewere wrong. McT or Fred should have come off with 17m to go. But we stuck with two average CDM and with Fred especially who had a lousy game. It could have cost us.

When De Gea saved that penalty he should have walked over to Noble, picked him up and carried him off the pitch.

The weirdest part here is how Matic was brought in not to defend but to make a penetrative, line breaking pass that Scott and Fred haven’t really been able to deliver and that changed the game
I would agree with you, however, the defence calls upon the evidence of McTominay's gorgeous slide-rule through-ball in the 1st half that cut through all their lines like a hot knife through butter, leaving Ronaldo through on goal with Greenwood for the square ball tap-in.

The fact that Ronny's first touch was horrific shouldn't detract from probably the best single pass of the entire game.

The same City team that didn’t score yesterday?

AWB had some positive forward movement today. He seems to have improved this season so far. Good to see, I like him a lot as a RB.

OH FFS he scored a cracking winning goal, yet you still feel the need, FFS just be happy he scored and we won.
Feel the need for what excactly?

I was delighted with the goal and the win. It was a cracking strike. My first post said so and that it was a bit of redemption for him.

Someone replied and said he was quality.

I simply said he's not, because he isn't.

We totally got away with that. A lacklustre display. Poor subs. Bad tactics. De Gea Almighty.
Is this a WUM? We got away with nothing. Ole got the tactics right, the subs were spot on (two of them literally won the game) and we were clearly the better team.

You really can't win with some people.

I was at the game and it was glorious

I went to the ‘London Stadium’ to watch West Ham vs United. The last time I’d seen this fixture I left 10 minutes early because United were a disgrace. Today was a bit of a different experience. West Ham went 1-0 up, then we equalised and then Lingard put us in front with 5 minutes to go and should’ve been it.

Should’ve… in the last minute there was a problem. Luke Shaw handballed it and gave away a penalty. A penalty that was obvious from the cheap seats where I found myself and a penalty that was a sad inevitability the second VAR intervened. Now, there’s two facts at play here. Fact number 1 is that it was obviously a penalty. Fact number 2 is that David de Gea doesn’t save penalties so it was basically a goal. To add insult to injury Moyes decided to make a sub. He decided to sub on their penalty take and ‘Mr West Ham’ Mark Noble to take the pen. Who ran onto the pitch with his chest out, looking like a proud pigeon, and obviously looking forward to his moment of glory. The moment he saves a point for West Ham.

And then something amazing happened. David de Gea saved a penalty kick. The last time this happened.. Cameron was Prime Minister, Obama was President and the Brexit referendum was yet to happen. Thus sealing us a vital win and sending me into a forcibly introverted meltdown as I was in the West Ham stands.

    It was fantastic. COME ON.
