Obviously my opinion doesn’t really mean much but I’d much rather have Henderson who can fix his errors and improve than de Gea who is capable of performances just as bad if not worse. Good problem to have really. I can understand with de Gea in good form that fans are more warm to him. What I don’t get is the abuse it’s odd.
Henderson hasn't done enough to cement that first choice position yet. I expected Ole would stick with the more experienced man and he has, I don't think Henderson was quite there yet.

He didn't look terrible but he was far from imposing and not impressive enough to make himself un-droppable. One for the future hopefully.

I said at the time, the best thing that could happen would be for Henderson to put pressure on DeGea and for the latter to find the form he's found for us in the past, because that is the best possible outcome, I like Henderson but he won't top peak DeGea in all likelihood.

United fans, at least online, have been noticeably harsher this year. I think, that they equate getting rid of people on high wages with getting extra transfer budget.
which in the case of the glazers I don’t think is true. They stick to their tried and trusted net spend if around 75-85m every year

Summary:
Accept a lower salary? So not a realistic target then.

I swear these players are daft accepting low ball contracts just to play for Barca, they're making a rod for future players and basically telling the top men in charge that spending way beyond their means is okay as we'll just accept less anyway.

Looking at Pogba "due to his profile" is the mistake we made -- you don't buy a player like Pogba without having a plan for how he will fit because he has very specific strengths and weaknesses. Sounds like Barca is definitely trying to emulate United circa 2013-2019 in terms of mismanagement.

Also Pogba isn't accepting a lower salary to go to Barca who are themselves in a rebuild mode. He has had enough of that at United already.

Going to Barca now would be like joining Mourinho’s United all over again for Pogba, the next 4 years are going to be rough.

It’ll be between us and Madrid I reckon.

In the summer of 2020, Timo Werner moved from RB Leipzig to London. But according to a report by "SPIEGEL", he is said to have already signed a contract with FC Bayern during the 2018/19 season. This is said to have been terminated again afterwards.

From a brief, which is available to the "SPIEGEL" and according to which is to be the subject of a court dispute at the Regional Court of Mosbach (Baden-Württemberg), it emerges: That Werner was to move from RB Leipzig to the German record champion on July 1, 2020.

This burst transfer was made public by a million-dollar dispute between the two advisors Karlheinz Förster (63) and Murat Lokurlu (45), which is to be heard in court on September 28. The internationals Timo Werner and Niklas Süle (26/Bayern) are involved in this dispute.

Lokurlu claims to have been a partner in the handling of Werner's transfer to Chelsea. With regard to Werner, the trial documents state that "Timo Werner had already quietly and secretly signed a temporary employment contract ... with FC Bayern Munich in the meantime at the urging of the plaintiff (Förster, editor) - the player was not too keen on this." The Werner advisor at the time and ex-national player Förster had accordingly urged the striker to take the step.

As the SPIEGEL writes, Werner, after he had "reluctantly signed", learned that the then Bayern coach Niko Kovač and sports director Hasan Salihamidžić were against a commitment. The contract had the then still ruling president Uli Hoeneß arranged

Timo Werner and FC Bayern München left inquiries from SPIEGEL on this unanswered. A lawyer for Förster wrote that his client does not "in principle" urge customers to sign contracts.

As evidence for the alleged false claim in the trial files from Lokurlu's side is quoted, among other things, from WhatsApp messages from Süle. On November 12, 2018, he wrote to Lokurlu: "Check the offers from England if anyone wants me there." And further: "If someone says he would take me from the big clubs let me know," "Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea but preferably Man Utd", i.e. Manchester United. "Seriously?" asks Lokurlu. Süle: "Yes dead serious". And later: "Okay super Murat would be top if you get this moving".

One day later Lokurlu contacts Süle. He had been in contact with Manchester United and Chelsea, both were interested. A meeting with Manchester United was finally arranged for November 29. "Thanks Murat," Süle wrote afterwards, "Super that will be awesome."

2019 then another attempt. Late in the evening of October 4, Süle wrote via WhatsApp to Lokurlu: "Do you know someone from Tottenham?". Three days earlier, Süle had played with Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the London club Tottenham Hotspur, result: 7:2 for Munich. The adviser answered in the affirmative, saying that he was on the phone regularly with a decision-maker at the club. Süle: "I want to Tottenham such an awesome club". And shortly after: "London nice city stadium fans brutal".

So does that mean Werner had signed a pre-contract with Bayern even though he had more than 6 months remaining on his contract, and unbeknownst to RB?

I think the translation to English makes it difficult. If I am understanding it correctly, some people at Bayern wanted him and others did not. Someone that really didn't have the authority to submit a contract initiated one with Werner, but it was never finalized by the club. I think the important aspect of this is the manager has changed at Bayern and Naglesmann and Werner are pretty tight. It is said since he came to Chelsea they talk weekly.

Thank you, yeah it's not as clear in English.

This reminds me that I need to check if there's any updates on the Jean Kevin Augustin case.

I'm sure City have great academy resources but I'm really struggling to come up with another academy players in the squad(Let alone one on the same level as Foden). Has always seemed to me like a marketing campaign.

Yeah, genuinely struggling to think who the hell they mean. Garcia maybe? I know he's left, but he's the only one who actually made the step up. I think he's been good at getting players in they've got good money for, Nmecha, Sancho, Brahim for example - but literally none of them have helped the first team.

The original article is paywalled but a write up from another paper clearly states that Werner signed a pre-contract deal for the summer of 2020 during the 2018/2019 season. Reportedly he was reluctant to do so, but got talked into it by his agent. However after he learned that his signing was a solo effort of Hoeneß and neither Brazzo nor Kovac were actually in favour, he told his agent to get him out of the contract. Which he did.

What would the reason be to litigate this?
Two agents are suing each other about the money that has been made off of Werner. One of them has submitted all kinds of whats app logs and documents to prove that he's been actively representing Werner and Spiegel seem to have access to it.

Niklas Süle has submitted an affidavit to support the claim of Werner's "main" agent at the time, K.H. Förster - a former Germany international himself, that the other guy just did some translating, so the other agent submitted some screenshots where Süle told him to make a PL move happen. He supposedly called Spurs a great club in one of them though, so they must be fake.

Jesus wept.

Literally. The Man City number 9 is crying somewhere after reading that.

Nice punt. Zlatan excluded is understandable, but harsh on David Villa. He's a #9 by trade. Him being forced to play wing forward, and totally forgotten by Pep is a shame

The flipside of that is that he played out wide to make room for Messi. Zlatan went in order to make room for Messi at false nine, too. The single best decision Pep ever made, in fact, was to put Messi in that position. Shame for Villa, perhaps, but the right decision? Absolutely.
