As bad as any of the dark days under the three previous managers but with a miles better squad. The net is closing in sadly as take away the awful result for a second, that performance is simply unacceptable

We were bad but it’s a relatively good time to have such a listless performance. Still early into the season. We’ll learn from this and we’ll get better for sure. Cavani coming back. Sancho still to show his real ability. Rashford coming back soon too.

Shoot me for being positive.
You could have said this about most of the performances from the last two seasons. there's a clear pattern.

I don’t really know what Mcfred bring to the games. I guess Ole is sleeping on his job. Doesn't that deserve a sacking. Pogba shouldn't be playing, he always put in half a shift. McTominay, what does he bring? I will always take McGinn over McT anyday. What does Fred and AWB bring? After 3-4 years, we are still shit all over the pitch.

Greenwood getting greedy. Not passing to Ronaldo once and didnt lay off for Bruno easy goal.

No attacking cohesion whatsoever.
Set piece defending let us down.
McFred were abysmal.
Defending in open play was decent.

Concern about where this is all going is fully warranted. Management is deficient.

Why didn’t Ronaldo take the penalty?

I’ve said it before, too may ego’s in the team.
And allowing Ronaldo come back in and take it over from our best taker in years would help with this supposed ego issue?

Can't wait for Ole's positivity to perk me up after that crap, he's the only one who'll think we played well :houllier:

Nothing to do with the coaching. Not Ole's fault two defenders got injured. Not Ole's fault Bruno missed a pen. Not Ole's fault they got a corner wrongly for their goal.

Just making sure I get the excuses in early. Any others?
Old Trafford has got a leaky roof?

If I speak….
Becareful, you might incur quality control if you speak your mind. Today was a very disappointing result. With all the talent in our side, Aston villa looked more organized.

I m trying to see whether this is anything else, more than coaching and I don't see it. Some fans will use the typical scapegoat in Fred and Mctominay, but we have spend around 300m. If they were an issue, they would have been prioritized over other positions. Moreover, we could use pogba or vdb there if they are that bad instead.

Ole is out of his depth but this was a bad day at the office for the players. Losing Shaw just killed our buildup play. Ronaldo got zero service. Greenwood played like a youngster. I can’t even go after Scott and Fred because I expect nothing better.

Same, I've been happy to give him time as there has been progress in terms of our position in the league and cups but now at this stage we have such a talented crop of players and it's a big risk to stick with Ole when we could go with someone proven to win things. Do we want to waste a season on hope again or should we go with someone like Zidane and actually win something?

Similar to Chelsea last season when they had Lampard, they went ruthless and got Tuchel in, won the CL now looking healthy to win more and you can actually see they play football too.
Aye exactly.

The quality of this squad deserves an elite manager .

I love Ole but he's simply not good enough.

We're a manager and a midfielder away from potential being great.

But with Ole, some of his staff, Fred and McTominay we'll never progress from the 'heights' of last season!

We're crap to watch unless we're playing brainless teams who don't simply sit back and hit us on the counter. Leeds is the anomaly of results and performances this season.

Awful stretch of games coming up next month. Leicester, Atalanta x2, Liverpool, Spurs, and city. October will be telling for Ole's tenure.

Could we start a betting pool on which club sacks our manager?

After a game like that I feel like having a total clear out. The whole squad and the whole coaching team and the manager out. Just start from scratch.

On the other hand Villa are a good side (there’s no real argument about that) and we dominated them on every metric except goals. None of the other metrics matter of course, but these results will happen and we are not far away from being able to put a proper run together. We’ve a couple of new faces still settling in, a few more off form, that’s all.

I don’t agree that these players will suddenly look like world beaters if we change the manager. More likely they will improve steadily in the current set up. Team spirit is good. Results and performances will come.

Nevertheless, it already looks like we’re going to be off the pace again this year which is starting to get boring.

We look like a team that needs a defensive midfield to take control of games. Not an original thought but remains the case. McFred is not that good even on a good day. Which this wasn't.

But let's not over react. We will still probably finish top 4. And a draw would have been a fair result.

In my opinion, Ole since assigned as a coach for Man United is not doing well and now even with a good players still having trouble to manage the team well. Even in worst days, i have not seen united messes up a lot. This way we cannot compete in any tournament. Decision is always late during the match as well. It is really sad! I cant believe this is happening to us.

Just a loss. It happens, both teams went for it, one came out on top. Nothing more, nothing less.

Still doesn't change the fact that he's not a good manager.
Irrelevant to my response, it’s being implied Ole was a United legend because of one goal.

See this bollocks spouted by our own “fans” all the time.

Honest to god, how have we managed nearly 50 shots on goal in the last 2 games and not come anywhere close to scoring a goal?
How many of those 50 shots were decent chances though? Not more than 5 I’d say, greenwood‘s chance to square it to Bruno and the penalty were our only 2 very decent chances today

Ole totally deserve this and really hope someone make the decision for him to go. Ole won't stop down, it is his dream job. All team knows how Utd plays, week in week out. McTominay and Fred protecting the back. Greenwood on the left will always want to score with his left. AWB doesn't put in a early cross. Pogba doesn't take on defenders. As long as team stay compact, there is always a chance to score for the counter and set pieces. Not rocket science to play Utd. Just get it over with and sack Ole. He isn't the man, he stabilise the team but that's all. We can sign 10 best players in the world, we will still this way under Ole.
Nobody will be firing Ole anytime soon. Decisions at this club are only made when manager is mathematically out of top 4.

In any case, we have a problem at midfield, but we keep playing Mac-Fred and Pogba. Ole seems unable to bring in VDB, perhaps he doesn’t even know how to get the best of him. We ran out of substitutions today, and was the only reason we didn’t see Lindgard for Ronaldo today. Ole’s got the wheel, but he’s like a blind drunk driver at times.

Playing with two defensive midfielders in front of a back four and conceded in every game as well as looking very open with numerous chances being created by opponents explain that one???

So I got a mod warning for posting "time to go"... Absolutely ridiculous and surely again the spirit of the forum which should be to allow fans to vent their thought either positive or negative, nothing in my post was offensive.

So to add more to my thoughts in the hope of it being deemed as allowed.

Ole has to go. The tactical discipline of the squad is shocking, on Wednesday it was Lingard shooting in site, today Greenwood forgot how to pass, why aren't the players being berated for this!?

McFred in midfield, has never worked and every man and his dog know they aren't a title winning midfield, yet we continue to try nothing new. How one of them wasn't subbed was criminal.

We have no consistent pattern of play and after 3 years at the wheel things aren't getting better.

We now how the best squad we have had in a decade and it is being absolutely wasted with this manager and coaching setup. Who in the club is demanding success? Someone should be, if not because of our history then sheerly based on the investment made in the team.

Are we at the stage of the season already where "supporters" are willing the team to lose just so they can get in some random "world class" manager?

feck me. We played like shite but maybe you should go support someone else.
I never want us to do anything but win. but we've now gone three years pretending a guy who wasn't up to it at Cardiff is good enough for the most famous club in the world

I think many of us feel the same way.

I believe Redcafe staff warned us all recently that 'excess negativity' about the manager would result in quality control warnings...
Indeed, some of them have gone full BBC impartiality. The truth may be inconvenient but the tax is coming due sooner than expected.
