    Sir Alex
He has stated as I believe that he expects Villareal to play defensively using a low block, which he admits Utd., have found to have difficulty in playing against.
So he and his coaching team have clearly identified a pattern / system of play which they expect Villareal to use. Now I would expect that Ole and coaching staff will have worked out a counter to this, and his coaching staff would then play and practise these counter measures on the training ground. His team selection ( Taking into account injury and suspension to squad members) should be those players most the most able to carryout his instructions and counter Villareal's tactics. Therefore I expect a resounding win tomorrow night as planning, preparation and practice will prevent a piss poor performance.
Should there be another calamities team performance and result, I think there cannot be any excuses, for him his coaching team and the players in general.
I think you are being sarcastic here, identify patterns or playing system within 4 days ? We have barely opened up (or not) organized defensive systems far worse than Villareal's.
We are too slow and predictable in the build up play and can't (don't know) how to press low blocks.

Not too confident we can get more than a draw

Such positive energy in here. I wonder how people are going to transition to being happy when we do win.
It's much easier to be happy or even ecstatic about a win when you're pessimistic because then it's unexpected, and feels absolutely fantastic.

Truth be told I don't know how relentless optimists get much joy out of football. 'I thought we would win easily and we did. Yay?'

I don't think we'll win easily. I know we're capable of winning and that's the attitude I bring to the table. It's not going to be easy but our squad can bloody well go out there and try. What if our players adapt the same energy and attitude that's been circulating in here ? We'll never win jack shit if they do. I little belief and faith never hurt nobody. I know we have lost a few but we can win a few ţoo.

Thats all great that, but we playing a good side in villareal, a side that very very rarely get turned over. And we saw how well organised and determined defensively they are only a few months ago.

You talking like the other team in a champions league game is complete no hopers with no coaching and tactical plan of there own. And we know they are gonna set up with a well organised low block determined to keep us out and we know they are very good at it.

If we get an early goal and open the game up we might put a few past them, but I suspect its gonna be a tight affair with not alot of chances and alot of possession for us, we just have to hope we take one of our chances, because we will make a few.

Scrappy 1-0 win will do just fine tonight.

Excited to see the potential Ronaldo and Cavani lineup. Think we'll batter them to be honest, but I'm sure people will have complaints even if we do. I'm looking forward to the match, beers in the fridge already.

I'm going for another classic Champions league 0-0 against Villarreal.

Obviously I'd love a win, but it's Villarreal and every game against these is a dour event. I don't see this one being any different.

After yesterday's comments, there's more chance of hearing ducks fart than him not starting McFred.

Just had a quick glance through the systems yesterday's teams play in.

Apart from Milan and Sherif there's not one that plays with a double pivot like we do. I pray to God we switch to a 4-3-3 soon.

What’s the situation with Shaw? I know Maguire is out.

Having to play Lindelof and Telles/Dalot is my biggest concern.

There is absolutely no chance. Whether we like it or not, on paper the results would suggest there has been progress with the current system. When you watch the football, you wonder how....?

Absolute must win game after recent weeks and if we want to stay in the CL.

    ------------------------------------------------------------De Gea----------------------------------------------------------------
    Dalot----------------------------------------Varane------------------Lindeof---------------------------------------Telles
    -------------------------------------------------------Matic---------------Mctom------------------------------------------------------
    Sancho--------------------------------------------------Fernandes------------------------------------------------Pogba
    ---------------------------------------------------------------Ronaldo-----------------------------------------------------------

Fred, AWB, Greenwood and hopefully Shaw to come back in on Saturday.

The Europa League final was one of the most dismal United games I can remember. I don't have high hopes for a good game but just want the win

With all the criticism Ole has got this week, a relatively comfortable win seems inevitable. The criticism of how we generally play is valid but that has never meant we play badly in every match, because we're a pretty good team.

Usually I am pretty chill ahead of this type of game, but last year's group stage is keeping me on my toes. We just can't lose.

Listening to the presser i got a feeling he may play 3 at the back with 2 wingbacks? Shaw hasnt trained so i dont think he will start. Maguire out.

bailey varane and Lindelof back 3 with sancho and Telles wingbacks.?? Hard to call.

we really need a win to not only get going in the champs league but boost flailing confidence. Wont be easy but I’m sure we will get the win… we have too.

Ole needs to start playing a more Adventurous team.

Bet you he plays 5 at the back which we are always shite with.

People talking about a comfortable win, not sure where they getting this from.

Our form has been poor start of this season, Villareal beat us in the final and we have struggled to beat teams this season.

I can see Villareal keeping it tight and trying to nick it.

Not confident at all for this game.

We always play best when we're under pressure and we really need to win tonight. I'm going 11-0

People outside the caf? Because all I'm seeing is we'll draw or lose this.

they defend well and are very organized, we need to attack them relentlessly to create good goal scoring chances.

but I expect Ole will stick with McFred at the base of midfield with Fernandes, Pogba, Greenwood & CR7 as our attacking options, and Dalot, Varane, Lindelof & Telles as the back 4.

I'm also hoping Dalot & Telles offer us quality crosses into the box, only hoping though.

since we can make 5 subs, I hope to see Sancho, Lingard & Cavani come in around the hour mark to change things in case it's still 0-0.

0-0 at half time, they'll score 2nd half at which point we'll make 2 defensive subs followed by bringing Cavani on after the 80th minute. How's my aim?

Did you mean to predict Sancho as a wing back? That would be a huge mistake for me... I don't know why we would suddenly try 5 at the back in a game we need to win, seems odd, if anything I'd like to see it be kept a bit more narrow where our wingers aren't setting the world alight, the 4-2-2-2 formation we used a while back.

    Dalot Lindelof Varane Telles
    Matic Mctom
    Pogba Fernandes
    Ronaldo Cavani

The worrying thing is, you might not be wrong with this, its how we go about games these days.
Play out the first half trying not to concede and come out second half hoping for someone to produce magic.
