Level thanks to Degea and very wasteful Villarreal. That's as poor as I've seen United defend in a champions league match for a long time.

Lack of strength in depth shown up tonight once more. Lindelof, Dalot, Telles poor replacements for Maguire, Shaw, Wan-Bissaka.
Yeah, because we've been rock solid defensively with them in the side this season.

At least there's Varane in there, oh wait a minute.

We are more open than Leeds are when they play us it’s so fecking ridiculous. Pogba is a central midfielder but he was playing higher than Ronaldo sometimes. He needs to stay back and dictate play from deep.

It's needs must, we need help for the defence because we're asking to concede, we need someone to help McTominay cover the LW and RW, especially their LW who is ripping Dalot a new one.

Ronaldo is already regretting coming back. Sorry buddy but you won’t win anything at this club with Ole at the helm.
apart from newcastle he’s hardly lit the place up has he? he needs to get his act together too

This is how a fifa team looks in real life. No midfield, no balance, no cohesion, no plan, just through ball, pace merchants and inshallah

The performance have been atrocious again. We look like a really bad as a team and after 3 years with Ole it´s simply clear that he is not good enough to manage a big club in the Champions league. We continue to look worse than most teams with inferior players and that is a key aspect when judging Oles work as a manager here. Manchester United need a better manager than Ole. We could have been behind 0-4 now and the excuses have to stop regarding Ole.

It feels like we are a sinking ship. Looks like players don’t believe anymore. They are trying from the star but there is no idea or a game plan.

I like Ole and never was Ole out but now it feels it’s too much for him. Too bad as this team is ready to win.

Just as well De Gea has rediscovered top form, we are wide open to the point Bruno finished the half playing deeper than Pogba to try and help out, and in attack we seem to be content to just play Allardyce angel passes.

Incredible how Ole is playing a 4-3-3 with McTominay holding. None of our defensive players can pass a football. Our best passes have come from Dalot (who is struggling with Danjuma) and Pogba dropping super deep. This formation makes way more sense if Ole just bites the bullet and plays Pogba as the sole 6.

The team has enough talent to win games playing like this. But they won't win the league or the UCL unless they are more consistent. We are repeating the same pattern as previous seasons. But the bar has to be one of those two trophies or season is a failure. I hope that is the message in the dressing room because it seems like the team thinks another top 4 finish is good enough

Ole needs to make bold selection going forward. If this bunch is not clicking then find a good balance by sacrificing someone.

Absolutely no idea how this is still goalless. Villareal should have scored at least four. Man Utd really need to sort out their midfield, Villareal are just waltzing thru it at will.

Ronaldo has been one of the worst players.

We need a presence up top.

    I wouldn't mind cavani.

Pretty awful first half. I'm intrigued to see what actually changes in the second to improve this.

Watching the highlights its obvious Dalot needs to be yanked. Bailly won't give us much in attack but he will be better defensively.

Should have started with back three imo. We know Dalot isn't really a fullback and Telles is slow.

Right now who knows if something can be done to change the game. We are basically hoping for a goal and we might need two or three.

Ridiculous decision making. Not sure why we're forcing these stupid passes and not just being patient. Very lucky we've not been punished on the break

Really started to control the game into the latter stages of the first half. Fancy us to run out comfortable winners.

This was driving me crazy! He looked like he was moving into that LW position, get in your position where you're supposed to play! He's supposed to be our creator but he's acting like winger. Crazy.

People see his energy and work rate and mistake that to be qualities of a DM though. Yes, top quality DMs often have that in their locker but what makes them great is the know-how of where to be and when.McTominay is good, but not of the quality and knowledge to play that DM role by himself.
    He should be benched yesterday.

All the posters who said we should drop AWB because Dalot couldn't be worse, I hope you're enjoying what you're getting. It's become fashionable to shit on AWB on here but I hope you can now see what he brings to the team. For all his faults, he would never be skinned continuously by any winger and he's come up against the best in the world.

You say that like it’s any different when we play two defensive midfielders. It isn’t.
You’re right - and it’s not how I meant it to sound. I guess when you have a coaching team incapable of organising our CM, then their only solution is just to add an extra body. It still doesn’t work, but can at least see the thought process of why they do it.

A CB runs past 4 players sets up another shot for them. Cavani on Ronaldo off another guy in CM. Dalot has to have help alot he's being run ragged at times then other times he's defending great. Ole needs to change things at Half time Varane and Lidelof are having a torrid time Telles doing OK the ball is coming down our right all the time , needs sorting . UCL Club needs it but at the moment it's a pretty poor display in both games. Ole out shouts after this game, if its a 2nd half like the 1st .

Villareal are just sitting deep and narrow so when they turn us over they can counter quickly.....that's exactly how united have played under Ole since he started coaching united. It's when we play teams like villareal, who sit deep, is when we look like shit.

At least Sancho has been better this game.
Lindelöf has looked good. De Gea has been absolute world class.
Bruno has been very good as well.

Dalot is having a hard time. And we look frantic and disorganized.
We also lack urgency from a lot of our players.
