Ronaldo and pogba on the bench meaning they can come on around 60 mins and be fresh. Rotation has to happen. We’ve looked rubbish the past few games with other line ups so trying something different with Cavani and Martial isn’t a disaster. Cavani will cause plenty of problems and Martial, well depends what version of him turns up today.

Agree with Rio. Starting Martial over Lingard… Martial is a useless. Empty shirt of a player.

Weird selection, but hey Ole knows what he is doing. I predict Ronaldo off the bench so grab a draw or nick the win.

No issue with Cavani coming in for Ronaldo, I mean Cavani is fecking awesome. It's the CM again. Jesus christ.

It is a bit mad that players like Martial get chance after chance while others (cough VdB) just don't get that same luxury.

He'll probably score now or something, which sort of reinforces that whole point.

People are losing their shit because he’s made changes after playing midweek and now early Saturday.

    Ridiculous to expect any different.

Now, this surely can't be the case, but it feels like Ole is purposely making changes because he complained about this fixture being the 12:30pm Kick Off after a Wednesday night UCL game.

I could understand it if we were going straight into another mid-week game. But we're going into an international break...

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to stop playing favourites with this team and learn to accommodate players based on merit and be flexible with the formation. I mean, what has Martial actually done to merit playing in this game that Van De Beek hasn't? It's concerning that he still cannot break into this side that has been rotated somewhat despite performing well from the really limited appearances he has actually had.

Don't understand Martial getting a chance. Sorry but that's not on at all. I do feel Ole has the players backing but to see Martial getting chances when his performances/effort don't deserve at all...

Delighted Cavani is started but a little bemused at Martial getting the nod :houllier:

Sancho should get a run of games since Martial is out of form and inevitably on his way out.

For what it's worth, Martial has a decent scoring record against Everton...
That's the only silver lining of his inclusion, Martial, Cavani, Bruno, Greenwood, all got goals against Everton previously

Sancho, Lingard, 10% fit Rashford > Martial.

This is not the game for his strolling about.
There is no game for his strolling. Not even the reserves. Hard work is the least requirement in adult professional life. Sigh.

I don't mind the team overall and it should still be good enough to win, we need to rotate more given the squad we now have, but I'm not sure why Martial is getting a game over someone like Lingard or maybe Sancho (who has started poorly but is surely a bigger part of our future plans so needs to be bedded in). There have to be some sort of standards in terms of effort and performance to get games and Martial has largely offered no quality or work rate for ages now.

Feel that Lingard and Sancho should be fine to play ahead of Martial. Agree that Ronaldo needs a rest.

How Martial even has a squad number, never mind the number fecking 9, I will never know.

Ole trusts him far more than I do, I wouldn’t trust him to boil a kettle

Neither of our two Ballon d'Or candidates are in the team: Cristiano Ronaldo and Donny van de Beek.

This had better work, because it's.....impossible to find good arguments for why we'd go with Martial over Sancho (or Pogba, or Lingard) in this game, given what we have to prove here. If we're going to string together some kind of attacking game that isn't as inefficiently over-direct as we've been in the last few games, Sancho should be key to that while Martial clearly is not. Sancho is also a better player, is in better form (though that would be true of almost anyone), and is in danger of becoming a distraction and losing confidence through lack of playing time. If this is rotation, then Martial should not be part of any regular rotation, Sancho should - and Lingard has done enough to at least earn consideration for that.

Completely fine with Cavani for Ronaldo - can't play CR every game, and he's not that much of a downgrade.

Also, I would have liked to see Matic start, although primarily with Pogba on the pitch too.

I forgot to submit a line-up prediction but i wouldn't have guessed Martial and Cavani starting and wasn't sure if Shaw was fit. The fact McFred continues almost feels like stubbornness to detriment at this point.

Absolutely pathetic lineup. Martial shouldn’t be anywhere near this team.

It looks like Sancho is going to get the VDB treatment this season.

If this backfires on him, Solskjaer will be under immense pressure.

Ole is losing the plot, he is slowly throwing away his dream job.

McFred virtually every week regardless of how $hit they play is brainless tactics.

United have a tough run of games coming up and in one of those games our luck is going to run out and we are going to be on the receiving end of a right pummelling.
