We’ve looked rubbish the past few games with other line ups so trying something different with Cavani and Martial isn’t a disaster. Cavani will cause plenty of problems and Martial, well depends what version of him turns up today.

There is no game for his strolling. Not even the reserves. Hard work is the least requirement in adult professional life. Sigh.I don't mind the team overall and it should still be good enough to win, we need to rotate more given the squad we now have, but I'm not sure why Martial is getting a game over someone like Lingard or maybe Sancho (who has started poorly but is surely a bigger part of our future plans so needs to be bedded in). There have to be some sort of standards in terms of effort and performance to get games and Martial has largely offered no quality or work rate for ages now.

Yes Ronaldo is turning on him.......Neither of our two Ballon d'Or candidates are in the team: Cristiano Ronaldo and Donny van de Beek.This had better work, because it's.....impossible to find good arguments for why we'd go with Martial over Sancho (or Pogba, or Lingard) in this game, given what we have to prove here. If we're going to string together some kind of attacking game that isn't as inefficiently over-direct as we've been in the last few games, Sancho should be key to that while Martial clearly is not. Sancho is also a better player, is in better form (though that would be true of almost anyone), and is in danger of becoming a distraction and losing confidence through lack of playing time. If this is rotation, then Martial should not be part of any regular rotation, Sancho should - and Lingard has done enough to at least earn consideration for that.
Completely fine with Cavani for Ronaldo - can't play CR every game, and he's not that much of a downgrade.
