It’s probably the least of our problems and a silly question, but why do we have so many players that can’t actually head a football?

Thought we actually looked lively but the issue with this team is that we don’t excite well enough in the final third and we are so fecking vulnerable to getting countered.

At least Sancho was great today. He’s a starter when he plays like that. It’s sad that we will just be a comfortable 4th with the squad we’ve assembled because there isn’t enough structure from the coaching side to figure out our mistakes and iron them out. Never has been.
You’re right. But recall last season when posters were giving Rashford stick for running at defenders?
You can’t win here

Reasonable first half, but with worrying moments. Godawful second half.

How does this team and these players play so poorly? This is definitely a good squad, the best post-Fergie. I'm desperate for Ole to succeed here, but I don't see it happening.
I am not desperate for Ole to succeed, I just want to see what this squad is truly capable of. And this has to be more than Bruno and Cavani running their socks off, a colibri on speed in midfield and no coherent structure of play to speak of …
Again I would have rather brought on the one midfielder who does not identify as an attacker in Magic instead of Pogba. There needs to be an anchor in this formation.

Can't spell Mkhitaryan
The buck always stops with the manager.

He's had more time than other would have been allowed and for this, he should fall on his sword.

I'm such a big fan of Ole the man. He gets us, knows what our club is about but he obviously lacks the knowledge to turn a world class team into a title winning team.

I have zero doubt Ole will keep his job until it's too late for this season.

We are going to have more days like this.

Thought we played well first half, seemed to change when Martial went off, although I thought Sancho did well. We’re very susceptible to counters, surely that’s something they can work on though.

Not good enough really though, lucky to draw in the end. Be nice to have Maguire and Rashford back after the break at least.
not sure maguire would have made a difference - Lindelof was probably one of our best players

Looking for Eric
Let's face it that is our normal performance level, we rely on good fortune and individual brilliance rather than playing ruthless football.

I don't know how to say this, but IF a semi competent manager with at least bit of tactical nous got his hand on this team with the likes of Varane, Ronaldo, Bruno, Pogba, Sancho and all, do we think we'd be better off than where we are now results wise?

I’m surprised I actually think from a neutrals perspective our games have been incredibly entertaining at the moment because Utd are so flaky and give some many opportunities away while at the same time having the magic to do something at the other end. From a Utd perspective it’s pretty bloody painful though!
I may be a neutral, but I'm not entirely neutral, I want United to do well.

Entertaining games sure, but it's frustrating to watch so many good players be so crap.

I thought we were okay. Everton had one idea - 10 men behind the ball and get it to gray or townsend on the counter. Decent first hour. Ronaldo and Sancho coming on was viable. We looked good for 10 minutes when they did as the game opened up. We just needed to see it out and hit them on the counter as they needed to come looking my for it. Then for some reason, despite being ahead, we overload the box for a corner(which we never score from) and then Fred AWB and Lindelof fail to make the necessary cynical foul on the break. Stupidity and mistakes cost us again.

That asides, Worrying amount of players out of form. Id take the 1.4m gray over sancho anyday. We Cant defend. Shape off the ball is awful. Varane hasnt improved us. Mcfred is pointless. Why play two CDMs when they just dont work and leave us wide open. Too many heroes in attack as well. Pogba, Bruno, CR7 all want to be the main man but dont seem to integrate very well together
Yeah that’s mostly right. Depressing.

Sickening to drop points just before the international break, we have to winning that game with so much talent on the pitch. You just know that City, Chelsea or the scousers don't let them back in that game.

Not sure Fred is solely to blame for the goal. The Utd midfield is not mobile enough to contain quick counterattacks, and Ole needs to sort that out asap because the next 7 matches are very tough fixtures.

So who is going to make a thread and quote post when we lose? Or those people just disappear when we lose

I genuinely believe Ronaldo saved Ole’s job on Wednesday.
Ironically it’ll probably be Ronaldo that gets him sacked. A player like him won’t take much more of this nonsense, and I’m sure Ronaldo will probably get the players on side more than Ole.

Ole has massive issues with subs. It's like he doesn't read the game.
Matic was needed to add stability, but instead he goes for Pogba who doesn't really do anything in this kind of situation.

McFred had a decent game until the goal. We need to be more willing to take a yellow. There is a reason players like Kante and Fernandinho make these tackles so often.
Shaw isn't back to his last season form yet but was overall better today.

Lindelöf and Varane where better together than what we have seen from Varane - Maguire so far.

Sancho was much better today but his weak finish in the end really taints his performance.

Overall though our passing needs work. We loose the ball from bad passes way to often.
That’s the issue right there. They have decent games but not enough great ones. They were decent but not 100% on it; giving the ball away, not always covering.

I’d offer Kessie both their wages and sign him in January. One of McFred needs to go

Enough is enough. For the first time, I have come to the conclusion that Solskjær is not the right man for United. He always has trouble finding tactics against well-organized teams. That problem will never go away, no matter how many good individualists Solskjær gets for United. We have so many offensive players with high, high quality that we should create many more great goal chances against teams like Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham. But Solskjær simply does not know how to break down a good team that has mediocre players.

Against the slightly stronger teams, on the other hand, things are often better for Solskjær. But we will never win the PL when season after season we have problems with the middle teams and even many of the bottom teams. Only teams that play as naive as Leeds, we do not have big problems with. But there are not many of them in the league.

To try and take a few positives out of it. Tony looked lively and took his goal well and Sancho looked better again and seems to be finding his feet so can hopefully kick on as the season progresses and well that was it.

Not sure why Cavani was taken off when he was clearly causing problems for the defense and once again the introduction of Pogba made us less effective as he did not seem to be in sync with the rest of the team. Fred absolutely needed hooking off but with Everton sitting in and daring us to break them down it was actually tailor made to bring Donny on as he is more comfortable higher up the pitch and is neat and tidy with his passing in tight spaces.

I have never been Ole out but we need a minimum 10 points from the next 4 games or we will have to make a change. We can do it as we seem to play better against top teams in general but that run cannot last forever and if we lose a couple of those games we are struggling to be in the conversation for top 4 let alone the title and the board will have to react. I would imagine the dressing room might be close to turning too, there are winners in there and especially with Ronny here now there is a minimum standard they will demand and if the coaching is deficient they won't stay quiet.

Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho would be under genuine pressure for their job at this point but I don't think Ole has anything to worry about. He is guaranteed his spot until at least the end of the season. He needs to figure out how to stop the midfield getting dicked around every game, we barely create anything and give away the same chances game after game, it all goes through the midfield. Keown said it on commentry about Everton's midfield 2 doing so well it gives the defenders less to deal with, we're the complete opposite.

Yeah I'll just tell Ole to just pop out to the shops on Monday to get a new holding midfielder for all the Ole outers as it will save his job....soo easy?
Mate I’m not an Ole outer but I’m being pushed that way. Not saying it’s easy but it’s up to him to sort out that midfield in or out of the transfer window. He’s the manager of Man Utd, and there’s a glaringly obvious issue that isn’t changing.

The most annoying thing is I don’t even think we deserved to win. Everton we’re good value for the draw and are struggling with injuries. We need to find our best team and quickly cos it all looks so disjointed right now and with the games we’ve got coming up could realistically be the end of our season before Xmas. On a positive I thought Lindelof was excellent and we started well again but really need to be putting teams to bed with that early pressure

Ole made every decision which led to us losing another game.

Resting so many of our important players, taking off Cavani, playing two CDMs at home again, not bringing Pogba on until 70 mins, not playing VdB again despite resting Pogba, not playing Ronaldo and Cavani together even though it led to us winning only 3 days ago.

Fergie won leagues with shit squads. And Ole can't compete for a league with a world class squad.

Ole OUT ASAP.

Everton not pressing high made our buildup play look decent. The final third was poor. Players just aren’t on the same wavelength up there. McTominay played a lot better than on Wednesday. Greenwood needs a rest.

Odd game. I'd say that on balance we actually played a bit better than in some games this season. But still, we were unimpressive overall and deserved no more than the draw. We were way behind on xG (0.88 - 1.22 in the app im looking at).

I don't think anyone can deny that we've started this season slowly now. Given the games we've played compared to our rivals, our relative closeness to the top placed teams should be of no solace. While maximum points from our first 7 games was always unlikely (you don't often start that well) I don't think we could afford to drop more than 4 points. Interestingly if you look at the corresponding fixtures from last season, we've actually got fewer points than the same games from last year.

Midfield is a mess. Thats where we suffered most. Quite simply Allan and Dacoure were better than McFred. Unacceptable for a club wanting to win the league. While it wasn't the gaping void we saw against Villareal, and both midfielders had their moments, Allan and Dacoure looked both tougher in defending and better going forward than our pair. Left us with no platform for attack or defence. Our problem is that there's nothing we can do about it now. I hope we're ready to spend in January. While our firepower will keep us top 4 by my reckoning, I don't think anyone can look at that midfield and have much hope for a title challenge. As we saw from our opponents, its not like we need world class players to upgrade on what we have. Just a couple of other decent options. Failing to address midfield in three summers is just inexplicable.

Attackers did okay. Greenwood did well, Bruno did well, Sancho too. DDG continues to prove doubters like me wrong. But you can't win titles with isolated performances. We need to improve several levels to have any hope of that.

Team selection again, Ronaldo scored 5 goals and dropped to the bench. Martial has been terrible and he starts out on the wing.

The midfield needs Pogba regardless of what we all think of him.

Ole showed a total disregard to Everton who are a good side.

Serious question marks over Ole now for me, he's been given a side capable of far better than this.

Even taking Cavani off when he was working so hard for the team was a strange decision.
said the same about cavani - we nicked it on wednesday because both he and ronaldo were on the park

Shaw running like a headless chicken for the Townsend goal and abandoning his side of things completely was just wow. But then we were pointless for rest of the game, despite the goal.

He’s done brilliantly in turning the club around, but he isn’t a coach.
100%. Love him for the player he was and for giving a team that were rock bottom a massive boost as a coach, and giving us something to cheer for again. But he shouldn't be our manager.

No idea who takes his place, though.

You can't sign Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo and do THIS.

I don't care if the club fecked up again and gave him a 3 year deal.

Sack him today. Its OK to admit you were wrong in giving him the deal. Put it right.

Frustrating result. I thought we looked decent at half time and I was happy enough but we didn't push on in the second half like we should have. I thought the 2 subs were weird when they were made. Felt uncessary to bring on those 2 players at that time, we were playing fine without them.

Done by another counter attack. Real basic defending mistakes in that one too with everyone rushing towards the ball. I had hoped that would wake us up to get back in the lead but it wasn't to be.
