As a United fan I can still hold hope we can challenge. Look at the start we had last season and we still came second, hopefully we’re just a team that always starts slow? :nervous:

To the title race thread ...
You all must be grinning :D

City can't be too mad, taken 4 points from visits to Stamford Bridge and Anfield (some would argue they left 2 points on the table)

Liverpool despite the worrying form of Mane and a lightweight looking midfield will be up there as well

Not impressed by either of them there. Sloppy mistakes all over the pitch. Individual mistakes leading to goals, moments of individual brilliance. Think we could do both these teams on a good day

Struggling to put Wolves, Southampton, Villa and Everton to the sword.

High quality game to be fair. City better first half but even second half. Four superb goals. Little to choose between the teams. I still think City are in better shape overall but Liverpool have shown they're a threat.

Not gonna lie, watching those two midfields made me pretty jealous. The ability to play under pressure at times was pretty impressive.

Anyone else think 85 points wins the league this year?

Pretty sure Salah was crossing it for his goal.

Pep and Tuchel both booked this weekend. The league is a joke as a competition unfortunately. VAR totally pointless and makes it worse. How has Milner not got sent off? How can it be so hard to get basic decisions correct?

Chelsea game at Anfield was equally ridiculous. Zero yellow cards for Liverpool that day, total impunity to kick the ball away and foul as much as they want. Red for us from VAR obviously.

It's WWE in football form unfortunately, that's the only reasonable explanation. Too obviously in Chelsea game yesterday so they even it up with a ridiculous red card to match the disallowed goal.

Watching how the Pool and City players pass without even looking during counters and 90% of the time a teammate is already speeding past getting on to the through ball. Leagues apart, the coaching and cohesion on display here. We are nowhere near them and will never be as long as we base our club structure around nepotism and bottom lines.

We might fluke a win if everything goes our way but the quality of football out there is better than anything we can dream of right now, let alone actually see on the pitch.

We are on same points as ManCity and one behind Liverpool. Take it easy. Just because 2nd half was entertaining don't mean you can cover up a bad first half.
City have played Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.

Liverpool have played City and Chelsea.

Our toughest Oppo been Villa, Everton and WHU.

Unfortunately, we don't have a midfield, which lets us down badly. Shame Ole didn't get the midfielder he wanted last window.
Ole chose to not reinforce the midfield over the years.

We have done signings that we could have done without if he wanted a Midfielder.

Regardless we should be playing much better than we are.

You can't stop justifying Ole, isn't it. Feck it, just compare the teams we played with them. Take it easy, my foot .

We can’t beat Young Boys and some fans think we’d be a match for either of these teams. Really need to get out of the delusion zone.

Liverpool were poor and were bailed out by individual brilliance.

87-90.

I still think Klopp can squeeze one more title out of his squad, but then Chelsea are capable of putting a run together. If City signed a proper striker then it'd be game over.
See I have City as slight favourites with United as outsiders if something changes with how they’re playing. Chelsea and Liverpool will be close.

There’s going to be a lot of dropped points between the four of them.

Good result for us. Though with the opposition we have faced in comparison to them we should have been top by a few points if we want to compete.

Will need to do extraordinarily well on the tough run coming up. Let's hope we see some changes for the better

It's a good place to be heading into the int'l break, I'm not gonna lie. I looked at our opening 6-7 games and thought we'd do well be within a couple of points. To be top is brilliant.

I think City, Liverpool and Chelsea will all be happy to have navigated the first round of games against each other unscathed.

Top 4 today is probably how it will finish.

What is up with Pep and Klopp kissing and hugging like that? Fergie would have torn them a new one after dropping points.

Seems obvious enough but the team that puts together the longest winning streak will probably win the title. City, Chelsea and the scousers all look capable of 10 in a row. We would have to improve massively to be in with a shout.

Who is even mentioning Solskjaer here? Where have I mentioned his name in this thread? This just show what your agenda is.

We are no where near what you guys are displaying now. I would worry about Villa, Everton , Westham ,Spurs and Arsenal first before worrying about City and Liverpool.

Come on. If we signed a midfielder and not Ronaldo with Cavani out then you can be absolutely certain we would be having the exact same discussion. The same would apply if we didn't sign Sancho. Could you imagine of we didn't pursue Varane?
