AC Milan dealt with Raiola the right way. Eventually it'll only be PSG, Newcastle and City (when Pep is gone ) willing to sign any of his clients (I hope).

I’d tell him that he won’t get a single minute of football for the rest of the season if he doesn’t sign the contract offered.

Give him 7 months of sitting in the stands.
I don't want to be seen as Pogba's defender here as I'm not, but who in the right mind would stay in a club that (hypothetically) blackmails you in this way? Considering that you've been doing everything that's written down as your contract responsibilities so far.

People aren't thinking about it from the position of a player or an employee. They think as fans or as clubs executives.

That would be very stupid tbh cause nothing happens in isolation and Pogba is still liked by a lot of his teammates.
Which player would wanna come to Utd or would wanna extend under these conditions.

It’s a weird one for Pogba I reckon — on the one hand he’s got a great team around him at the moment, both in personnel and ethos/character, but it’s one without real balance and one still finds himself without a proper position within. We also don’t appear to be closer to silverware than the nearly-men we’ve been for the past year or two.

At 28, and the fact he’s a player who’s rather slowly had niggling injuries eat at him a little bit (I think he’s lost a tad bit of dynamism, honestly) — this is possibly his last major long term contract.

I think it would probably be in the best interests of all parties if ties are severed at the end of the season. With players like Ronaldo and Fernandes being here for the foreseeable, and the current manager and his system looking to stay in place, it just doesn’t look like Pogba will ever properly fit. His departure would also expedite us signing some proper central midfielders (plural, you’d hope).

They’d be getting him on a free next season.

Bit of a clickbaity thread update, mind.
To be fair Mediasport did a great job. Pogba is in Turin, they ask him about how it feels to be in Turin knowing that he will say something nice and then ask about his future.

I don’t think he buys Ole’s style of football - I doesn’t sit him and he has no natural place in this side currently. If I was him I’d sit tight and see who comes in to manage us later this season and reassess. He holds all the cards.

Why do you get that impression? I get the exact opposite, he wants to be surrounded by class players and winning stuff. Nothing about him being the big man and main star.
I got it from him seemingly being unimpressed when questioned about Ronaldo's arrival. I could be well off the mark though. I also remember an interview with that hottie from sky sports saying that he wants a fixed position (I would assume as most attacking of a midfield 3), he won't get that with Bruno here.

For what it's worth, I would like him stay but I feel if he hasn't signed by now, then he's gone come the summer

I just want him gone. It's never been right since he returned, some of that is his fault and some of it isn't. I'm bored to death of hearing about him and despite some decent perfornances he's not produced anywhere near what his reputation is and what we expected his contribution to be.

At this point United are shoe horning him into the team and more often than not it's not helping us. I hope when Rashford is back we see Pogba benched.

His agent probably isn't having a lot of luck finding decent offers if we're back to publicly talking about how nice a club Juve is.

It had more to do with France and Belgium playing in Turin and italian media exploiting it.

Oh, right. Yeah would be a bit weird go all 'no comment' if someone asks you if it's nice to be back in the city you lived in for a few years.

They still can't afford his current wages.
Italy still has the very favourable tax regime for skilled workers coming from abroad, with gross being just 1.3 of the net instead of the usual 1.8 to 2 applied to residents. If Pogba wants €15m/year net, it would cost €19m/year to Juve instead of €27-30m/year. Italy also has a very favorable tax regime for shielding non-domestic earnings of skilled workers coming from abroad, which surely pleased Ronaldo a lot in the last three years. If Pogba wants money, his best option is Juve again, with Raiola already managing a number of players at the club and more incoming. I am not sure the new Juve’s course (the generous Paratici out, the strict Arrivabene in) would sanction that, but it makes sense for all parties: easier league, nice setting, good organisation, no drama.

Name a CM in world football with more ability than Pogba.....

The only question with Pogba is about his desire to want to be a CM.

If he truly wanted to the worlds best CM he could be that today by being a little bit more disciplined defensively.

Fact is he doesn't want to be a Scholes or a Kroos. I think it's a shame as he had more attributes than the two of them and he could've been a generational player and gone down as one of the best ever to do it.

Instead he'll go down as a player who had all the ability but his desire to be creative rather than do what's best for the team hindered him.

I think 3 people in the world that could've changed this were Ferguson, Scholes and Raiola.

Unfortunately he chose to stick with Raiola the twat over the former and Jose or Ole weren't able to overcome the issue and get Pogba to be that CM he should've been. Personally I think it's tragic that an agent has had the effect he has had on a player that had led the player to not achieve his potential twice at the same club.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Pogba. If he signed a new contract I’d want the whole team built around getting the best out of him.

I just don’t see the point of fitting a player into the team that’s leaving in a few months at the expense of someone else that’s committed to the long term.

United has really fecked up to let such a valuable player be in this contract position.

People have to give up this building the team around him like he is a prime Messi or something. You dont build the team around a player unless he is going to bang in 30 goals a season.

If he wasn't going to extend his deal in the summer he should have been sold and a replacement brought in.

The only people clinging on that idea are the ones criticizing him for not being a player you "build around. It's as disingenuous as it gets.

I fundamentally agree with you. I just meant that the club has to decide things from a perspective that suits them (even if the current situation shouldn't have happened ideally). I think we are fortunate that the people making the decisions don't take them from the POV of hardcore fans but more like level headed.
If this is to be his last season then I hope the clubs uses him the best possible way for its gains. After that, then we can part ways.

Torino us a club with a lot of similarities with United. United > Torino > Juve. I don't think Torino have the money to sign Pogba though.

Very poor squad planning. Could probably have got about 60m for pogba and lingard who may both leave on frees now. The club should know how likely a player is to stay and make a judgement. 60m is a big amount to have in January for example should we get a bad injury or a player like Bruno come available

It's not even about the goals, it's the fact that Pogba is a luxury player. When he is at the top of his game, he is unbeatable, but that usually comes once every full moon. More than half the games he has played he is a complete passenger at best and at worst a detriment to the team. Just get rid and buy a DM. We already have a much better player than him in Bruno. And to cover his defensive frailties we need to buy someone of Kante's quality, which is very unlikely.

If he leaves, he leaves. It is what it is. Only thing that irks me is we didn't sell him sooner to retain some of his value.

Yes i do know. But if we thought we'd lose them on frees, which we really should, and told pogba and lingard, both players with international ambitions and free of injuries that they didn't feature at all in our plans i don't believe we'd have struggled to sell.

I think anybody who thinks he's not leaving and signing a big contract with another team at the end of the season is misguided.

I also don't really blame him because it's a substantially good way of making extra money.
