He won't be getting paid.

Burns V Santander Plc (2011) santander withheld wages to Mr Burns after he was held on remand for six month. Mr Burns was charged and convicted and received a CS.

He was later suspended with pay until a disciplinary hearing where he was sacked.

Mr Burns took Santander to court for an illegal deduction of wage claiming that although he was on remand, he was ready and willing to work but was unable to do so and this was not his choice. However, the judge ruled that as he was convicted of criminal activities that he willingly entered into, his inability to work was all his own doing and his claim was dismissed.

So, City could well hold off Mendys wage until the outcome of any hearing is reached.
No offence, this certainly reads like you know you’re stuff, but I’m just not sure the Simpsons is the best place to check for legal precedence.

Probably can't even pay.
I know some of his relatives pretty well. Apparently he thinks the matter is closed and he doesn't need to pay anything. (maybe he struck a deal with Roman or something like that)

A while back he was actually loaded with cash, but he spent it all on expensive pussy and parties.Zlatan described him as an absolute nutcase in his book.

Lucky for him that both of his ex wives were filthy rich and he didn't really suffer from divorcing, otherwise he'd be on the streets now.
He used to own a few local businesses (pub, restaurant, club, apartment buildings) and a lot of real estate, but he sold it all which leads me to believe he struck a deal with Chelsea.

That's kinda what a lot of Chelsea fans think. This got settled with an NDA on both sides which is why this story just kinda died after the European Court of Human Rights ruled in Chelsea's favour. Maybe chucked Chelsea a million or two.

Rumours that the Saudi government are going to give legally binding assurances that he won’t rape if granted bail.

My thoughts exactly.

Don't really care about his pay. The fact he's being remanded for months is the real headline here. Not sure that's happened to a premier league player before?
He allegedly committed the same offence multiple times while on bail. No judge is going to run the risk of him being out on bail and having the chance to do the same shit again.

It's nice to see a famous person being held to the same standards we all would to be fair.

I'd imagine they've got some pretty solid evidence to be sticking so strongly to it - lock him up and throw away the key. Shark wanker.

Shouldn't be using these for point scoring.

Lets not forget who is our most decorated player.

With a particular aspect. Der Spiegel or Rui Pinto leaks so far aren't a court.
Not sure if I'm missing something here, it's nothing to do with Ronaldo. ManUtd's and England's most decorated player is Giggs.

Oh man, this time my fault, thought you were talking about Ronaldo, completely forgot the Giggs incident. Apologies here. Always trying to outsmart other posters here sometimes turns against me.

But yes, let the Mendy situation be investigated. @united_99 same thing for you, bad interpretation here. Deleted the post, pointless.

Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
How have all these charges only come to light? Has he had previous?
He was charged with four counts of rape and one of sexual assault. So now he is charged with six counts.

Edit:

What the CPS can do in this situation is bring one or more charges against an individual which are fully investigated and which, in their mind, pass the threshold for charging. This allows them to continue investigating other alleged incidents, and they will bring further additional charges if the evidential and public interest tests are met.

hopefully since he's been charged more women whom he may have abused have come forward, fair play to them it's a brave decision, hopefully he'll get the full maximum jail term when it goes to court

The number of reported rapes, as against the number of actual rapes believed to have happened, is very low so the shocking thing about it, if true, is there may well be others.

City have suspended him/not paying him right? Are they waiting till he is guilty to cut his contract without a penalty?

Two more rape charges for Mendy.

this is messy as feck
Understatement! Yes it is, trial starts on January 24. Going to be interesting to get the details of the case in court and how he's going to defend himself against all the charges.

I am on a roll of being incorrect, but I would be surprised if he is being suspended without pay. He has only been charged (even though it is with very serious offences).

Also interesting to see where it will be held (do we know this yet?)

There has to be a case for holding it outside of Manchester given his high profile.

True. To ensure he gets a fair trial, it has to be held in Abu Dhabi…

I'm often incorrect too but I'd be surprised if he's still being paid, it may be his wages are in a holding account so if he's found innocent he gets them back, if guilty he doesn't, I'd imagine clubs have numerous clauses in players contracts and being unable to play due to being in jail being one of them

Yes holding monies in escrow sounds like a sensible clause to put into a contract, which avoids the need for lawsuits after the fact (I am thinking of the Mutu situation, which clubs must have learned from).

Thanks for the info. If found guilty, what an absolute scumbag.

Very brave, I really hope he hasn't scarred them for life over this ordeal and if he has, they seek the necessary help.

I read on the bbc page it's four counts over 16 but it's six in total so that must mean two under 16. I hope that's not the case.

I see The Mirror online posted an article about this, using a picture of Edouard Mendy!!!

I hope whoever posted that originally is currently clearing out their desk!
