Commentators and TV studio people are often quite hard to watch in these situations. They should just say it's a medical emergency and leave it at that. It's not part of the theater and shouldn't be treated as such.

There's an international break after Brighton so they'll probably have the new manager in place for then with a temp manager in the meantime unless they find someone sooner

I think their owners will give the new manager a target of 12-15 wins from the remaining games. For a decent manager it won't be too difficult plus the new manager bounce will be there. If they can get 5-6 good players in plus say Potter as the manager, they can avoid the drop. Then expect them to make waves in the summer window.
