Good result, but we made it a lot harder for ourselves.

relying on individual performances once again against a very average under strength Atalanta side.

No tactics, Ole needs to go.
Nonsense, we created chance after chance. We didn't sneak by after being under the cosh a lot because of a Ronaldo wonder goal.

I'm amazed some are truly sad we won today. We have defensive and overall problems but in the 2nd half we just kept going and won deservedly.

Yet some just want to moan. Why not take a short pause.

Happy we won, but we didn't play well. Off the ball, both are our halfse arsed pressing and our half arsed low blocks were shite. We didn't create big chances in the first half. Mostly % crosses and distance shots.

You can't fight your way to a victory twice a week.

Crap defending, crap finishing (again), finally some proper intensity and a deserved win. feck the ref and Ronnie, what a don.

Something to build on but set piece defending needs to be a strength of ours given some of the players we have, not an Achilles heel. Let's fecking pick it up and do Liverpool at the weekend.

I like Ole dismissing the nonsense about pressure or players playing for him.

But I didn’t like him dismissing the conceded goals, especially the set piece as if set pieces didn’t count.

Wow, what a game of football and what a win for the team. First half was as bad as it got defensively, no concentration whatsoever and we didn’t exactly look like we were cutting them open either. 2nd half we just threw the kitchen sink at them, as soon as we got the first goal, there was definitely more for us as they started to panic. Ronaldo steals the headlines again with another late winner, didn’t have his best game but never gave up.

We’ve now given ourselves a great chance of going through, let’s not screw this up. We still need to improve, starting with stopping the leak at the back.

Any person with an ounce of football knowledge knows that was a shit show and we got away with one tonigh. OK, we scored three and played some good stuff, but this was the serie A team 7th in their league. We should be battering teams like this. Clear as day that the players don’t buy into whatever Ole and his mates coach them. I’m so fed up of this every week, I need a rest.

So you didn't see any difference in our intensity, and even Ronaldo trying to sprint to find his defensive position?
Not from any other of our comebacks over the last 12 months, no. We don’t start games like that. We sometimes do when we are chasing a game. Cavani last season has chased back. This team isn’t able to play at a high intensity until we go a goal down.

This is what it means to be a United fan nowadays. No trophies, countless weekends ruined, wasted seasons but punctuated by moments like tonight. I've made my peace with it. As a 38 year old, I've seen enough title wins to last me a lifetime.

I just hope by the time my 3 year old grows up, we've pulled our finger out and he gets to experience something close to what I experienced in the Fergie era.
I'm 35 and my 2 year old was on my lap while I was watching the leicester game. Not a pretty sight that.

Going forward we were good today, didn't take the chances in the first half and conceded really poor goals again and overall were very disjointed. Second half we played really well but how often is that going to work?

4 3 3 seems to be a much better formation for us, hopefully we use it more going forward.

The defence is awful, looks worse than ever. Maguire is unbelievably bad. Wan Bissaka was the only one who looked any good tonight.

The midfeild, well we all know we are lacking there.

The attack, I can't even begin to decide who are the best options there. Rashford and Greenwood on the wings are most likely to score individually but as creative players and bringing balance to the team, they are awful. I think we need to leave at least one of them out to allow a more creative player who can cross a spot in the team.

Shout out to AWB who looked like he was metamorphosing right before our eyes into a unstoppable marauding all action attacking canon of a fullback in that 2nd half

Re Scholes. Obviously Solskjaer won’t set up the same way on the weekend, that goes without saying. It was a plan for Atalanta although of course it wasn’t working.

It’s not being miserable. A turning point tonight would have been a 1-0 win where we were in total control and kept Atalanta at arms length. We continue to look hopeless in defence. We scraped by the 6th placed team in Italy after being 2-0 down and with half their first team missing.

The result is great. Very glad that our CL hopes are not hanging in the balance. However, after saying ‘something might need to change’ we proceeded to change precisely nothing.
We aren’t in the right frame of mind as a side to win 1-0 and roll out a comfortable win and thats not really analysing the position we were in. They had 2 chances and 2 goals. We had about 7 can’t miss chances and scored 3. It wasn’t that bad of a performance, it’s what came before the game that added weight to the pessimism in my opinion.
There are so many points being ignored. We suddenly have a ball in behind with Rashford against the press which we didn’t have without him. We have had more 1v1 in the last 100 minutes that the games before combined. We will struggle v top sides despite Ole rarely getting beat by big sides? There’s no proof of that and repeating it 50x doesn’t make it so.
You really need to analyse the game as a whole and it’s unfair to take either half in isolation.
Why pretend Atlanta is suddenly this terrible team?

This win just bought him a couple more months I'd say, well unless Pool and City destroy us by 5 or 6.

What a second half. But we need to be more focused throughout the entirety of the game

Superb old school comeback there, and very encouraging how many chances we created throughout.

Obvious massive downside is how easily we conceded bearing in mind how average Atalanta are.
Plus still we have no real idea of what to do in centre mid.

Pogba coming on and looking superb only complicates things, after looking poor last week.

Loved seeing all the long sleeved kits being worn. Looks so much better than the long undershirts.

Fred should have scored, and Rashford hit the bar, and was a world class tackle from another clear cut chance. First half alone. That is three much bigger chances than what Atalanta scored from, but paint what ever picture you want.
