Listen, put your Ronaldo pyjamas on, have a nice hot mug of cocoa, take a nap, then go push play on the skybox and watch your supposed favourite team allow Liverpool strut around Old Trafford from the first minute.
Only idiots and people with absolutely zero football intelligence would think that had anything to do with your #9.

And supposed favourite team? Didn't realize that jerking off to Ole's tactics and berating one of club's best ever players made you top red.

Are people actually deluding themselves into believing the only reason we aren't playing well this season and the reason we won't win anything is because Ronaldo joined? Please give me a break i'm tired
Seems like it.

That too when last week he scored an amazing header to keep us going in the CL.
This place is unbelievable at times.

I really think he was a ill-conceived signing. Our front 3 should be Rashford, Greenwood and Sancho, it's a young talented trio which we could build around.

But to accommodate Ronaldo, Greenwood continues to play on the right and Sancho is benched.

Player scoring a good goal doesn't equal team or individual playing well.

He is one of many issues Ole or a new manager will need to work out depending how they want to play, because he is basically undroppable regardless of form.

Every Ole favorite is undroppable regardless of form. Do you think Maguire and Shaw will be dropped next game? Do you think Maguire even deserved to play after Leicester game? Ronaldo is not the only one - yes it will be a challenge for the next manager to bench him after a bad performance but the fact is we are playing poor all over the pitch and are awful in defense and at the moment, none of it is Ronaldo's fault.

To write that shows how little you understand I'm afraid.
The reason the TEAM needed rescuing was because it is no longer playing as an unit of 10 outfield players because he has completely unbalanced what was previously a half-decent system.
The first thing any "progressive" new manager will do is bench Ronaldo.
How do you explain the poor form for a lot of the latter half of last season, when Ronaldo wasn’t here? Even this season the performances before his arrival were poor bar Leeds.

I'm not talking about favourites, it's his huge contract and standing that mean he can't be dropped, so you have to make the team fit his strengths and that's an issue if it's not how the manager ideally wants to play.

Choose to stay off his discussion but like we all know he will get us goal but is it enough at this point.
He had a poor game, I'm hearing from fans but this is the kinda performance you'll always get from him plus the phenomenal goal stats. He is a player to make a difference and not one expected to help us dominate games.
So I will stay away from criticisms or maybe I'm just bias.

Are people actually deluding themselves into not believing that once Ronaldo started playing for us, the team performances dropped considerably and he is the common denominator in the rapid decline? You can’t avoid the connection between the two things. He might not be the only reason but he’s certainly at least one major reason.

You basically said a lot of things in two phrases without actually saying anything.

So because of a player the team started to drop off? Like Bruno doubled his lost balls per game, Shaw has been invisible because Ronaldo joined, Maguire has been absolutely pathetic because Ronaldo joined? What the feck?

You can avoid the connection between the two things, if you watch our last 50 games, games in which our asses were saved by individual brilliance from Paul, Bruno, Shaw or Rashford. If you think we just started to play bad football this season go watch polo or something.

Whilst I admit i loved the Ronaldo signing because it's Ronaldo, I also agree that it was probably ill conceived when we needed signings in other areas. But don't kid yourself, these kinds of performances have been around for a while, we've just been good at hiding it, how many times has Ole dug himself out of a hole, infact he's well known for it at this point which is why people thought he might get a result against Liverpool. Do you honestly believe if Ronaldo wasn't on the pitch yesterday the result would have been any different? You say "rapid decline" and "performances dropped" like we haven't been playing absolute shite for god knows how long, we've had great moments for sure, when Bruno has saved Ole's job, but you act like before Ronaldo joined we were world beaters on the cusp of European domination. Sounds more like you just want to absolve any blame from our amateur coaching staff, Ronaldo on the pitch caused our defense to be an absolute shambles yesterday? Come on.

People need a scapegoat.

It is the highest levels of delusion I've ever seen on here.

Easy peasy.

It's not just pressing. It's his positioning. He doesn't position himself on to the central opposition which completely opens up our midfield if our midfield have to put pressure at all anywhere further up the pitch.

Anyway, apparently this is all bollocks and we have bad feelings towards him. This is just bullshit made up stuff.

Shows exactly what happened vs Everton when we were controlling the match vs them with Cavani up top and what happened when Ronaldo became our central striker. All that pressure and balance on the centre of the pitch disappeared and we got cut through like a piece of cake.

Great video. Shows the problem about quarter of the way through.

Oh well. Let's not believe it.

It’s why I am baffled at the lack of playing time for Cavani. Should be starter alongside Ronaldo.

He doesn't know how to play as a striker and won't learn now when he's almost 37.

Took his goal well, I thought. Will be capable of moments like that for another few years. He’s clearly made us a worse team though. Only his most deluded fanbois can ignore the bleeding obvious. He’d be a great super sub. Shame that’s not gonna happen.
Pogue, do you honestly believe Ronaldo is the cause of why we have got regressed as a team this season? If so, why? I just don't see it. We've undoubtedly got worse, but I cannot attribute that to what Ronaldo is offering on the field.

I think if anything we would be even worse off without all of his clutch goals.

Big problem really and I can't believe fans who refuse to acknowledge this is an issue. Even without expert analysis, it's easy to see it is hurting us.

Having Ronaldo changes all expectations...the dressing room has been weak for years, I think some of the players might have simply looked at Ronnie and thought they had made it! Big Mistake!

But the media are loving it, so we are going to have to get used to reading negative stories about Ronaldo 24/7.

It's so painfully obvious- Ronaldo doesn't press and as soon as Bruno does then our midfield gets opened up.

How many times have you seen Bruno trying to press higher than Ronaldo this season and a pass that has gone through both Ronaldo and Bruno and nearly straight through our midfield?

It's way too easy.

It's a logical consequence of not being fit for the start of the season, then prioritising qualifying for the World Cup with your national team.

This isn't directed at you alone, but people really need to stop pretending that Cavani is in any way able to be relied upon to be Manchester United's primary centre forward. It's far too late in his career for that, especially for someone to still prioritises his national team, when he struggles to even play 90 minutes a week.

Absolutely this. Nobody is questioning his quality or should give him any blame for the desaster yesterday, but for the balance on and off the field this was not a wise decision. Maybe if we were in a more stable situation it would have made more sense but with our squad and game plans being a mess there should have been other priorities.

Well let’s be fair that happened against Saints and Wolves as well. We were just lucky they didn’t punish us for it.

The issue with Ronaldo up top is not only his lack of pressing but his lack of involvement in the build up. This means it is left up to our inept midfield and nonexistent system to keep the ball which inevitably leads to more opportunities for the opposition to have the ball and play that killer pass or run straight through us.

He is a hindrance when we have the ball as well as when we don’t.

We only won 5 of our last 12 before Ronaldo even joined the club. It's that what you are arguing? That we were demonstrably better at the end of last season and at the beginning of this one, and then entered a "rapid decline" once he joined? Of which the "rapid decline" obviously includes the crap performance against West Ham in the Carabao and the first 60-odd minutes against Everton where we were also insipid?

I wish we would stop trying to reduce our problems to a single player. At least it is no longer Pogba getting the lashes.

Our form was crap last season as well, meandered to the final and put in the same pathetic performance we’re seeing now.

I know he wasn’t available at the start of the season but was available for Atlanta and Liverpool game. Cavani is also extremely fit and can definitely play once a week. Ronaldo had played 90min in midweek but played again while Cavani started both game on the bench.

Not the only reason. Definitely one of them. Why? Because everyone else who might play instead of him works harder and is better at linking up with the rest of the team (Martial a possible exception, based on last season’s form)

Bit of a weird argument to make straight after one of the worst performances/results in the history of this football club. We really haven’t got worse since Ronaldo was signed? Seriously?

Ronaldo is prime example of why talented attackers should avoid this club. He was always going to get scapegoated by this clubs fanbase.

We're now a club for the McTominay's and not for the Ronaldos. McSaucers are the type of players our fanbase loves and appreciates, while the Ronaldo's of this world rile them up.

We lost 1-6 last season at home too to Spurs and were just as bad. We have bad results and bad runs throughout Ole's reign. We're currently on a terrible run, but it's not unprecedented under this manager. Sorry, but people are being completely reductive blaming the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo for the team falling completely apart, when we have seen many of these same players do the same thing under this manager previously.

Will say and repeat it again, Ronaldo at 9 is a waste for several reasons. Both because you're not playing to his strengths and because yes, he does not fit well into the defensive part of the plan being on the central position when the ball is lost. If you rewatch yesterday's goal which was disallowed, Ronaldo is leaning into the left, makes a run, cuts inside, scores. If he was bang middle there he'd have to wait for a cross or link up play near the star of the box (which barely happens).

Ronaldo works better in spaces. I think even before his first game I was suggesting he oughta play alognside Cavani. After around 10 games, I'm actually quite glad I see a lot of people feeling the same way.

I mean, I understand it's usually not a good idea to change it up so much middle of the season, but what I don't understand about some coaches (not just Ole) is if things clearly aren't working out, why just not try something different for a change?? Just change up the players and formation. See you guys mentioning VDB so much that at this point I just wanna see the fella play to see what he is capable of.

Weird take I must be honest. Slating Ronaldo doesnt mean one loves McTominay. You need both type of players too. And what is weird is to brush all of the fanbase with that kind of brush too.

I feel really bad for him actually really bad. Such a phenomenal player, such a winner, such an absolute machine of an athlete and then he has to witness this shit show. I reckon he'll want out in January.
He's not witnessing it, he's an active part of it.

Ronaldo is obviously not the sole reason why we play as badly as we do but he's also not above it all just because he is who he is.

Wasn't a goal but yeah it was a nice strike. My worry is how we're going to see us implement an exciting style of play with him up top. We all want the next hotshot tactical manager but will that work with Ronaldo not holding the ball up or pressing?
Oh. Perhaps the next hotshot manager will get the forwards to play as a team.
You know, pass to the player in the best position to score.
Or is that not exciting enough?
