Get Brucie in and the bonus will be Ten Hag and VDS at the helm next season. I know you don't get anything for a pair...

Come on Brucie.

I'd prefer David May or Luke Chadwick. Maybe Bobby Charlton #TheUnitedWay #UnitedDNA

Never give it to a club Legend again. It's not worth it. Imagine if Cantona got it and he ruined his legacy. I couldn't live with that. I feel so sorry for Ole because he loves this club. He's just not good enough as a manager.

Just not an ex player, the risk of giving them a permanent deal is high.

Sir Alex Ferguson, I'm sure the wife is sick and tired of him brooding around at home. Time to go be Scottish at Carrington

Roy Keane would get done for assaulting a good few of the players.

What is René Meulensteen up to these days? We don't wanna cut every tie with Sir Alex, and post Ole Ronaldo is our only remaining connection.

Assuming this is a serious thread - Laurent Blanc. Currently coaching in Qatar so I'm sure he could be convinced to steady the ship for the season. Has a decent track record as manager, and from what I recall prefers a 4-2-3-1.

As it seems incredibly unlikely that we'll be able to appoint in mid-season the manager most of us would want for the long-term -- which is now 3-5 seasons -- we may have to resort to a caretaker manager. But only a manager who has actually managed a PL side for a significant number of years, not just an ex-player.

Fine with Caretaker if it means Hag and his backroom staff.

You might not be far off, considering Ronaldo is back. I hope he doesn’t do it and ruin his legacy.
Wow, he can't ruin his legacy even if he relegates us. But nah, I prefer Fergie to enjoy his retirement. It would be a shame to bring him back. He's also too old and his entire staff structure has been obliterated, so he'd have to rebuilt it from scratch. Just let the man enjoy his time in peace.

I am terrified we will get caught up in euphoria YET AGAIN and end up appointing them on a permanent basis

If one could guarantee the bolded part, IMO that'd be the sanest option in the razor-blade sea of insanity that's been the Woodward tenure.

Blanc should be the only acceptable option if we go for an ex United player as a caretaker.

I think we need Conte though. If we can get him till summer 2023, it would be grand cause we can sack him in next summer if there is a better alternative, without needing to pay too much.

Would rather we tried something new for once like being managed by a Super Computer AI robot with the latest FM database. Just tell it who’s been training good and who’s not, who had deserts, Paul Pogba’s last haircut etc. and then the robot select the team and tactics based on all available info dating back to the 1930s. Sir Alex could come in and do the pep talks during half time, he’s at all the matches anyway.
This way, DVB would get some minutes too most likely. The thing about Robo-Coach is that it’s always learning so that it would eventually achieve a 100% success rate, most likely during the next 50 years. Sounds good?

What’s Guus Hiddink up to? He loves these half season care-taker jobs.

On 9 September 2021, Hiddink officially stepped down as head coach of Curaçao and announced his managerial retirement at the age of 74.[68]

Wenger perhaps?

We have an attractive squad and we'll play pretty football.

Zidane or Blanc could be interim as well.

I want someone who doesn’t know the club. Some people like to say, “well we’ve hired experienced managers in LVG and Mourinho and look how that went” when I suggest that we hire someone who has a strong CV.

I am going to be equally difficult and unreasonable and say, “well we’ve hired someone who knows the club before and look how that went”

But we don’t operate like that. If he does even half decent he’ll be given a 6-year contract by April.
