It may well be that Conte has already agreed to the job but that he’s not taking the helm until after he’s completed wrapping up his personal affairs over the next few weeks. I would have hoped Conte, who’s not my first pick but the best option that’s available, would parachute into Carrington on Wednesday but that’s not very realistic, is it?

Looks like Glazers are indeed in charge of some key football matters.

Their next decisions could be key for the next 3 to 5 years... while it should be for next 10 to 15.

Anyone see Romano apparently post a video saying Ole has been sacked and then quickly delete, apparently recorded it in case it happens and wanted to be first to declare it.

Should tell you everything you need to know about that chancer.

We are in a real pickle aren't we. This is what happens when you are a reactive club than a proactive one.

Poch and Tuchel were available last year, the decision should have been made then.

Now we are here where there is only one option which in 3 years time might look like a bad decision again.

Same old United, never learning from mistakes.

When Fergie was up against it, and youngsters, you better believe he was, I don’t think he’d have allowed his mentor and confident (he was) Sir Matt, to speak to the players on his behalf. It’s like an episode of SUCCESSION now…

I'm reluctant to question Fergie even though I know he's wrong. But I'd love to ask him what his thinking is behind this if it's true?

I suspect it's more in line with the earlier reports that Fergie said to let him have the Spurs game. He's probably expecting a reaction like he would have got, no matter how short sighted that may be.
It doesn't feel right does it. I was even second guessing myself whilst I was posting it heh.

Hopefully it would be something like that, or maybe the alleged 3 games so that the replacement has an easier programme

There seems to be a lot of Gary Neville syndrome where nobody wants to put the ice pick into the lovable little nordic smurf and club legend. Let the evil Glazer dude deliver the killer blow from Florida. But the absentee landlord is likely to leave it a while since he doesn't feel the results except as numbers on a screen.

I would prefer Zidane over Conte, but I'm not overly fond of him either to be honest. I would rather we wait and properly plan for the right appointment, even if we have to wait until the summer to get them. We should not hire Conte due to him literally being the only option available to us right now. And that's exactly what this is, manufacturing a load of reasons to hire the only person publicly available. If there was a wishlist of managers, Conte certainly wouldn't be on it otherwise.
Zidane doesnt want to be here.

Again, I'm struggling to find alternatives here. Saying you want to stick with Ole till end of season, and sacrificing a whole year is CRAZY to me. Everybody will be a year older, many big players might even want to leave. We have a squad that can win titles, we should not waste that, chances like this dont come often. There is zero reason to sabotage a season, just to wait for this mythical attacking manager who will get us instant success and wants to come here. Unless someone can suggest a name who is a great fit for us next season I say we give Conte a go for this season and next.

For all the talk of Conte's style of play, Tuchel is not much different, and he is talked about like a God here.

Disappointed if the support from Sir Alex is true. Where is the man who let Keane, Stam, Becks & Ruud go when it was no longer in the clubs interest to keep them. Any support for Ole just reeks of loyalism to friends, there is no objective defense of Ole.
The day people realise that these old guys don’t want United being as successful as they left it. Is hopefully the day we try to exclude them from input.

This past 48 hours has been a bit of a blur let me try to get my head round it

Sunday
Man Utd lose 5-0 at home to their big rivals. Fans boo and a good chunk walk out during the match
Defeat means Utd have taken 1 point from 12 and havent kept a clean sheet now for 20+ matches
Utd currently sit 7th in the league 8 points off the top

Monday
Rumors that Ole will be fired begin to surface
Leaks from the dressing room that a lot of players are not happy with his team selections, tactics
Sky Italy report Utd have approached Conte

Tuesday
Ed Woodward and Richard Arnold leak to the British Press that they are behind Ole
SAF turns up at Carrington to declare to the Utd squad that their job right now is to 'stand by your manager'
News that Pogba wants to stay at Utd, but wont if Ole remains

What does that has to do with what I said? Young played 34 games, Alexis 38, Lukaku 44 in a title winning season.

Ole spent close to double that, what did he win? Spending money doesn't guarantee you success.
You make it sound like he took only our scraps and deadwood to win the league, yet they spent £70m on taking Lukaku from us and spent an extra £200m on top of that.

It’s not a good look for the owners or Utd is it, at all…

It’s as if normal football club behaviour is somehow not permitted at Utd.

You also have to factor in which players may potentially leave if Ole remains. For certain Pogba and DVB will go, likely Lingard and Henderson also.

Probably feels guilty for forcing a 37 year old through the door, hes had his part to play imo

My point is he won the league with three of our scraps being first teamers and actively involved in winning the league. Shows he's able to get something out of players that no one thinks are good enough. It's a quality that should be appreciated in a manager.

Poch would be ideal - he actually improves players.

Only three big clubs would accept this shit for as long as we have.

United, Barcelona and Arsenal.

Look at the state of all three of those clubs.

There's a big elephant in the room here and his name is Sir Alex Ferguson.
Come on. The owners don't give a feck what he thinks. And we do not know what he thinks either. I think this is the result of putting all your eggs in one basket, no contingency plan, all the talk of a long-term vision was based on the hope that Ole would turn into SAF which is utterly devoid of rational thought, buying some time in the process in getting the fans complacent.

Seems the structure is just a facade if the decision makers on footballing matters are Woodward, Arnold, and Joel Glazer.

Hopefully the protests will begin again, we cannot have these twats undermining every aspect of the club longer.

Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
Conte is available. I would take him for this and next season at least.
Ole playing Maguire against Leicester when he should not even have been on the bench was the final straw for me.
And the joke is he is captain. He is bang average. I would take Axel over him any day.
Letting VdB rot. Ole is clueless.

The more I think about this the angrier I get.

Time to log off.

Not even Arteta has had Arsenal suffer humiliation like we had on Sunday.

People need to relax. Anyone that has read my posts on this forum knows I want Ole gone as much as the next guy. But unless you want Fletcher or Carrick managing us for the next couple of weeks, there's not point making that decision now.
Get a replacement lined up then fire him.

You talk as if Conte is the difference between this squad winning titles or not. My point is categorically that Conte will not win titles with this squad, and we'll have wasted another 2-3 years due to yet another misinformed managerial appointment.

This is simply a case of wanting anyone but Ole, and anyone is currently Conte.

You know it's bad when opposition fans start chanting "Oles at the wheel!!!" all over the internet in mockery of the decision to keep him on.

They're loving it.
