It will be all the sweeter because of these years. Utter shit to live through no doubt but it will maximize the enjoyment when it finally goes right. Most of us have lived through and were spoiled with Fergie's reign of endless success and all the unbelievable moments that came with it, but the next league/cl will feel as good as any because of this barren spell.

You can't exactly enjoy what's happening but it will be remembered in a different light when we look back on it from above.

Will you still be alive to see it ?

Seriously though, it’s a long way off and a lot has to change before we are serious contenders.

You could call it masochistic, but in some small and perverse way I've enjoyed the turmoil post SAF. I've also not been too bothered by what City have done as I feel it's completely hollow. Liverpool playing outstanding football under Klopp and winning the league did feel shite though.

It won't make any particular trophy more enjoyable, but it will make consistently playing like a top team again (whenever that happens) more enjoyable.

Might be dramatic, but it's going to be tough to win the league under Glazers. Could easily go another 10+ years.

I'll look back and enjoy where we came from to get there but I'll probably still think you're all wankers.

It's almost a decade since the last time we won the league.
We might watch Liverpool surpass United league record soon which is terrible.

It will make us appreciate it a huge amount more, that’s for sure. There are some older fans on here who already walked this road but anyone under 40, has probably only known United as successful. Truth is we haven’t won the PL in nearly a decade now, it could easily be another decade.

Some small solace that Pool waited thirty years and then won the COVID league without fans there!

There won’t be a single fan who remembers what right now feels like when we next win a big trophy. Does anyone think Liverpool fans are still thinking about Gerrards slip and 3-3 with Palace? Football is a here and now game, and our time at the top will come again. Agree with sentiments of the OP entirely.

2043. We're the new Liverpool we'll wait 30 years before the next one.

Could be another decade and a cleanse thru the club before we ever get a sniff of the league again. Correct me if I’m wrong, but we’ve only ever won the league and the champions league/Europe under 2 managers. I think we haven’t hit rock bottom yet, we’re too stuck up our arses obsessing over the United way to realize we’re just 90s Liverpool. The irony of course is that scousers like Carragher keep giving us hints and clues to improve and avoid their vicious cycle!

I hope the fans fully enjoy it when it does happen as well. Don't take it for granted.

Edit: you will definitely 100% think we're all wankers.

I'm going with another decade of this shite, possibly more. Then again there's so much money in the game now that it could be never in our lifetime. Newcastle will probably win one before we do again.

By the end of next season, if we haven’t won either of them by then, we’ll be at 10 years for a PL and 15 for a CL... awful

2023, PL and CL double, 10 years after our last league title.

With Conte in charge.

It definitely feels like a thread we would have laughed our asses off at if it was from RAWK few years back.

sure it tastes different to win something after a drought compared to sweeping it every year, but even if we’re all depressed and hopeless now let’s not get into those cringeworthy positions (that I actually saw on the Caf already) “ah well it’s not so bad we’re awful now because it’s only going to be sweeter later” - it is very bad, we can cheer ourselves up whatever way we can, but no future sweetness will ever compensate the bitterness of being dragged from the very top to the echelons of mediocrity by a group of incompetent people.

I was a non gloating fan throughout the success years.

The shit I've put up with post Ferguson has embittered me with the resolve to be the most annoying gloating prick of all time the next time we win something decent.

I'm going full gloater mode, turned up to 11.

Hope it comes in my lifetime! I guess throwing money with no sense still has to stick once in a while right?

Looking at the whole football scene, with more and more state owned clubs coming along, I'm not exactly optimistic. Not with our wonderful American owners.

If...big if, but if we finally get a competent manager and the right coaches in, we could be surprised in the next 2-3 seasons. The squad is strong and the right manager could get something special here Maybe 1-2 changes, but we have quality if coached right.

From the depths of Sunday it could be the 30 years Liverpool took, or match our own lengthy spell pre early 90s.

However, football can change fairly quickly, and who knows what the post Pep/Klopp landscape will look like.

Think people are over reacting. Chelsea won the CL last season and at one point where 7th/8th in Dec or Jan.

CL can be won if things click and doesn't necessarily require a prefect team/manager. PL is a lot harder.

That's why we have won UCL 20 times and EPL only three times. Or Liverpool having 19 UCLs and 6 EPLs. Or Chelsea having 6 UCLs but only 2 EPLs. Or City winning easily UCL after UCL this decade, but not being able to win a single EPL.

Oh wait, it is the other way around.

Well, I think you need to look at the context of what is going on at the moment. On the continent Bayern are really the only team that you could say are scary (maybe PSG, but they look unbalanced a little.) In the PL at the moment, you've got three teams that are very well oiled and another three to four teams that are competitive.

If you're looking historically, then sure then CL is harder, however at this current moment in time, I would say the CL is easier as avoid Bayern until the final and get a fortunate draw and anything can happen.

At this current moment where City won 3 of the last 4, and 5 of the last 10 EPLs, but came close only once to winning UCL, and won it precisely 0 times?

Yeah, at this current moment, and at every other moment in the history of football, winning UCL is harder than winning EPL.
