It’s not going to happen.
I really thought it wasn't going to happen as well, but there's too much smoke, not enough alternatives, and they're most likely going after a marquee name after Ole. They will throw some crazy money and I think Zizou will be tearing his next pair of pants at Old Trafford.

Love how Romano is still used as the benchmark when again, blatantly, just rehashing others who’ve broken the news first.

I dont know who you think you are telling me to go support Chelsea or some other Oligarch club, or who gives you the right to say I only support the team when we are winning, which is a load of bollocks, feel free to see if you can find even one post from me complaining when we were loosing from either Jose, or Van Gaal. I never believed Moyes was good enough and I never believed Ole was good enough before they even signed right from the start.
I've been supporting this club a lot longer than you my Norwegian United fan, so you can leave out the irony about buying me a ticket, I doubt you have ever even bought a ticket to Old trafford.
Now that you mention it now that we are changing managers why dont you go and support whatever club Ole goes to, you are obviously more an Ole fan a United one, hopefully now that he's gone we get to see less of you too.
Here's a tip: Use the ignore button. I'm done with you.

Once he’s let’s go, I hope we can go back to collectively adoring Ole the former player again. He steadied the ship at least but the job was too big for him, no shame in that where many men have failed before him. I love Ole the player and hope he gets the chance to succeed elsewhere as a manager.
Steadied what???

He stayed three years, we won nothing, he leaves us exactly where he found us. He achieved nothing. Three years wasted. Half a billion wasted. A complete failure.

Ole did well to steady Mourinho's sinking ship (for a while) and helped develop some great young players.

Sadly we've reached as far as the extent of his tactical knowledge (or lack thereof) can take us. He did what he could, alas it wasn't enough, no hard feelings and hopefully the next manager can do better.

We are in the worst state we have ever been post Fergie. What are you guys talking about? :houllier:
If we really do get Fletcher in now it's going to get even worse. We need a real manager an not another one of Fergie's son's in charge. This is fecking terrible. I won't even want him to win any games out of fear that the board might give him a full time contract. It couldn't get any worse.

On Ole'as time, he did alright to get top 4 twice and in some ways has progressed the squad, but he was simply ill equipped for a club of this standard which is why 1) we have won nothing in nearly 4 years which is pathetic for a club as big as rhis 2) in nearly 4 years there's no excellence in our organization or tactical set up which is such an epic waste of time we could have been improving 3) despite the big signings we seem to lack balance

In the end, the takeaway for me personally is to trust my eyes. Barring the first two games where we played some pretty football, Ole ball has always been about umambitious football that looks like it's from a company guy who isn't particularly very good but just about doing enough with the individuals he has to get 'satisfactory' results. And when it got us some decent results many got excited, and I tried to as well, but regardless if one focused on the actual football, it was evident that Ole was never going to cut it.

This exact thread was made by another member before this one and just completely disappeared. Not saying it’s not true about the sacking but it’s about as ‘official’ as the first thread. Strange indeed.

I thought the common belief at Redcafe was that Romano is unreliable and has no actual sources of his own.

Also evident by how commonly and frequently he is bashed on here during Transfer Season.

Then how come a Tweet of his is now good enough to start a official announcement thread?

Just asking as I really don't want to get my hopes up. And then see a announcement by the club that Solskjaer stays.

Can't handle the disappointment again. Need concrete information about his departure.

Like with Jose he steadied the ship for a while then unsteadied it again being kept on too long. The promise of this summer has been wasted, a season that could have been monumental to the clubs resurgence. The likes of Ronaldo and Cavani will be a year older by time the next hire comes. A good manager could have done a lot with this team but instead will have to make do with a slightly worse version.

There are plenty of other good sources corroborating it - that's where Romano has got it from. He just parrots information from other journalists a lot of the time.

Would make sense to have one big thread for next manager speculation etc, so we can all keep track of it easily...

Did anyone ask the following question in this thread yet?

What about the person who decided to renew Ole contract at the beginning of the season?

I meant if that person is not accounted for his mistake, he can continue to make horrible decision with next hiring even now that Ole is sacked

Which young player has developed under him? Greenwood is a prodigious talent and he would have come through irrespective of who was managing us. If he had actually brought in the likes of Elanga/Mejbri/Shoretire into the first team set up, you would have had a point.

In the end, as a manager, he had his favorites and wouldn't budge from them even though it was painfully obvious they weren't good enough. Not even giving VdB chances over McT is perhaps as bad a managerial call as I have ever seen. Pissing up millions up the wall with no real improvement to the play on the field is another one of his legacy.

He was absolutely woeful as a manager and even his man-management was made out to be way better than it actually was. He managed to alienate a few players as well.

Good riddance even though it's a month (or 6) too late. Hopefully we get in someone who can coach this team than be just a cheerleader for them. Arm twisting Zidane to come here despite all the evidence so far that he is not interested will be just so us though.

If Zidane is actually being brought in, hope we just give him a 6 month contract to see how it's working out. Try going for Ten Hag then and if he is not willing, wait till the WC and get Enrique after that.

I can understand some of the Norwegian fans that really want Ole to succeed. But feck me if someone from my country or places I knew manages United and this is the result, I'd want him out. That person regardless of who he is will be ruining my every week.

Actually let's put Zidane on a day to day contract in case he doesn't cut it. if Enrique refuses we could call Tuchel and tell him he has an hour to get up the motorway or we'll offer the job to Klopp, who'll be waiting by his phone anyway.

I don't get why you got so wound up.

I don't rate Zidane as highly as you do and think there are better coaches who are currently needed than just another guy who is an excellent man-manager but not a top coach.

Should have gotten rid of him at the end of 2018/2019 season. Still better than waiting till the end of this season I guess.

I am not wound up. I am just glad we have another chance to get an appointment right for the first time since SAF left. At the same time, I am expecting us to royally feck it up.

Sacking is a no brained. It probably took 10-15 mins decide, the rest of the time is probably taking about who will be the interim manager, when and who will break the news, discussing on the next manager. I don't want Zidane to be the manager, I want to manager who is ruthless regardless of players reputation. Ole downfall is always play his best players regardless of form.

Lets see how our signings get on with a new Manager and hopefully coaching staff. That's only when we can truly assess the last few years of rebuilding. It could well turn out that players like Maguire/AWB were stinkers, alternatively with proper structure and an experienced coaching team they could turn it around and become top quality players. It's a wait and see brief as far as I'm concerned. We'll get a much better read of Ole's rebuild in a few years at that point history will dictate if he fecked it up or not.
His rebuild and reboot has been a huge failure and just PR spin, lowering expectations, over promising and under delivering. Three years down the drain, what the next manager does/doesn’t do with the squad can’t be credited to or blamed on Ole.

No one mentions Lampard when talking about what Tuchel is doing because like Ole he failed and couldn’t do what he was employed to do.

Yeah that is Conte you're looking for. How the board thought things would change after the Man City game, I would never know.

You'll find plenty of Chelsea fans respect the players that Lampard brought in and the work he did, granted like Ole it was a step or two too far for him. But he laid a decent foundation which Tuchel has built on, whether Ole has done the same remains to be seen, as I said, it's a wait and see brief. You can disagree all you like. But if the players we've brought in prove to be a success then Ole will receive credit, even if it sickens you.

Im not sure about Zidane though. Hes managed the best team on the planet at the time they won the 3 Ch Lge with a prime Ronaldo. Hes having to have his arm twisted up his back to come, as if he was keen this would have been done after the City game. I also think if the French job comes up after the WC he will want out.
But then could we sign ten Hag? If he steadies the ship, signs a DM in January

Doesn’t sicken me no need to be petty just because you’ve backed the wrong horse, we all wanted Ole to succeed just weren’t all taken in by the rebuild and reboot being overseen by someone not up to the job.

Ole is and always will be seen as a failure who has left behind a big mess, what the next manager does has nothing to do with Ole.

He’s left us with a much better squad, let’s not be blind to that fact. He’s going to get sacked and deservedly so, but he’s still a United legend and should be allowed to leave with dignity. The job was too big for him, as it was for many before him and he won’t be the last.

I fundamentally disagree with that and I challenge you to support that claim with any evidence. Yes its bad right now in the short term, but this is a talented squad poorly coached and bereft of confidence, which a better manager will get more out of. How is the current situation worse than it was when Moyes, Van Gaal, or Mourinho were sacked?

He's left us? He? Did he buy those players with his own money? Did he unearth some unknown talent? Did the players join us because we had Ole at the wheel and they would never join us with some other manager? What exactly was his contribution? What did Ole do that any other manager with 400 million wouldn't do? Because if you are just thankful that the team has spend 400 million in 3 years, we must remember that it wasn't Ole's money, right?

I wouldn't exactly call it giving him credit. No one gave Jose credit for handing Rashford, Pogba or Mctominay etc to Ole. Granted I don't hang aound chelsea fans but I don't hear them calling Lampard a builder of CL winning teams. Having players succeed you is the bare minimum for any tenure. Already the next manager has to deal with Maguire and AWB and the logjam with countless players on the bench who were promised playing time. This season is already a solid waste requiring a salvage job and the clock is already ticking on the next guy.

Maybe I can see it if he uses Ole's favoured starting 11 to win a title but the expectation for new hires is always finding a way to win with a combination of what is already available. This is how it has been and it's not for the previous guy to come and take credit for the next guy's salvage.

This is what pisses me off the most. We knew that this was going to be the end result for a long while now, even before the Liverpool game. We had a genuine top 5 manager available and wanting to come and instead we bottled it... for what? What did we gain from these weeks wasted? Now we have nothing to rely on unless they've decided to give Zidane the keys to the city or something in an effort to bring him here.
we wasted 2 solid weeks in the international break too. Gave away priceless points, and an opportunity to get a top manager. Now we will likely get some rookie like Fletcher. Shambles.
