I'm seeing this news as slightly positive. We aren't going to shit our pants and try to get Rogers.

Carrick makes sense for the next game or two, as we need someone to lead us onto the pitch.

An interim manager until the end of the season says to me that they are eyeing up someone already, and that hopefully we'll have more chance to get someone we want.

Ralf Rangnick now, then Ten Haag next season.
This would be my choice too

Carrick was part of Solskjaer's coaching team who were absolutely terrible .
Why on earth would we appoint one of his staff? It's absolutely ridiculous .
Because we clearly haven’t sorted out another manager yet. It happens 99% of the time that someone within the coaching team takes charge for a game or two.

I highly doubt they’ve been sitting there for two weeks not trying to find someone.

Can write off this season more or less. But at least there's hope we will get the right guy in the summer. Won't hold my breath though.

How we haven't sorted our options by now is quite something mind. Was clear Ole had to be replaced for quite some time now

They will bring in DVB. The same way Giggs dropped Fellaini. I wonder if they dare drop Bruno and make our team more solid?

It doesn't matter, if said interim gets us into the top four, the Glazers will think he's the next Fergie and hand him one of the biggest contracts in the league for the next 3 years.
I doubt we'll get burned twice, although with United you never know.

Didn’t he tank at Dortmund?
Still has a higher WR % than Ole did even though the wheels fell off. He started off red hot, and if we're going with ETH, would be a very good stop gap. Can use a 4-2-3-1 as well as a 3-4-3 with a narrow front 3.

I would hope that the interim until the end of the season line means they're looking at ten Hag for the summer, but I wouldn't hold my breath with this board.

He isn't being appointed anything, he's literally just in charge until the interim starts working. Carrick isn't the interim, he's just a placeholder until the interim comes in.

I wouldn't be against Van Gaal, with all the young players we've got. But I'm sure no-one else will agree.

All coaches remain. Comical. Surely a new regime move them all on
You still need someone to take training tomorrow, even if that someone is now widely assumed to be incompetent - you'd expect any new manager to bring his key coaching personnel with him, at which point, this lot will depart.

It’ll be Poch, I’d wager (at the end of the season, I mean).

Phelan will stay forever now.

Seriously though, I think they just want someone senior out there instead of leaving it all to Carrick, Fletcher, and Mckenna.

I would doubt it. It's an atrociously run club. Ole could have been sacked after City and a new manager or interim would have had a little time to settle in.

And the whole of the first team coaches deserved to go with him anyway.

Why is no one considering Ernesto Valverde or Laurent blanc for the interim job

What's hilarious is if Watford didn't get those two goals in additional time, he'd still be here. We haven't a clue who to get as interim. Again demonstrating the board at United being reactive rather than proactive.

It showed that our board lacked of management skill once again, there is two weeks international break before this game, and they should think a emergency plan for replacement if everything go wrong and it really did.
No way to give up this season when the squad is still competitive!!

Also, fired OLE and kept Carrick cannot be improved the team when we all know the team setup and play style is prepared by Carrick and Mckenna mainly

I think they were hoping he could pull out a few results until they found someone. Carrick running things is an absolute last resort isn’t it. We all know nothing is likely to change with him in charge, but it takes the heat off for a little while. It is an atrociously run club, but there’s just no way they have been sounding things out since the Liverpool game.

I'm happy with it as long as the board do their due diligence and stick to the plan this time. Interim means interim, not hand out a 3 year contract if we get a shock win against a top team.

The executives at the club are hopeless. Why wait past the international break to sack him? This has been inevitable for weeks. They should have been using that time to line someone up - either on a permanent basis or to take over until the end of the season.

Darren Lewis is on SSN and he's spot on. United are close enough to top 4 not to write off the season. Spurs are in a similar position and took decisive action to get the man they wanted in quickly.

The debacle with OGS is symptomatic of the problems higher up.

We could actually use those 2 weeks of international break to actually sort this situation, instead we have this hot mess of having Carrick as interim of the interim, what an absolute shambles of a club

Club needs a major and visible change in how we play.

Only Ten Hag would bring that. If we are waiting till the summer there is no point getting Rodgers
