A really nice guy who just couldn't get a pulse out of the team more than needed at a club of United's stature. This happens in football. Greater coaches such as Jose, LvG, Tuchel, Klopp with great CV's have failed previously and no doubt will happen in the future. Going forward I can't see having the same interim backup team changes much unless Ole went against their opinions. Hope this is very temporary.

There is absolutely no need to trash or call names for a perfectly more than a decent human being for failing at a job. Have a word with yourselves.
Great post. Fully agree.

Best of luck to Ole for whatever he does next and now let's move forward as a club, learn whatever lessons need to be learned, and improve.

Sad, but absolutely necessary. I think he’s not suited for managing at the absolutely top level.

Always had the feeling he wasn’t the guy to lead us to glory. He’s potentially the guy who would lay the tracks for the next guy who will lead us to glory.

He has overachieved in his time here, based on that CV. I don’t think any Premier League club would have gambled on taking him on with that CV. Hes probably one of the luckiest managers I’ve ever seen, based on players bailing him out and in-game events taking place, as well as external factors. Somehow it fell in place for him at times. It wasn’t sustainable and this season it all fell apart, ironically as he added more individual brilliance to the team... something he relied on a lot

People complained that he needed quality in depth but we now see this season he doesn’t even use his depth, and sticks to his favourites. He is not implemented the things he said he would and he has had three years to do it, which is pretty fecking generous in the modern football climate.

Should have left in the summer on the high of finishing 2nd in the league and a runner up in a European final (and boy was that a painful watch).

There’s no doubt this decision should of been taken a long time.

After the recent terrible results and every weekend having the feeling the misery is going to continue with the board reluctant to relieve ole of his duties. At least now on this very Sunday there is light now getting shown at the end of tunnel and I’m feeling lot more positive about the future then I have been in recent times.

Today is a good day.

Unfortunately I've a feeling the next permanent manager will be another mediocre choice.

Can finally go back to just loving the guy, uncomplicated. My only Solskjaer.

It's telling that this situation got so bad that I felt bad for him. And now the lack of interim manager. The Glazers must go. They're suffocating the club.

It was coming wasn't it, it was a few games late imo, but good luck to him, and let's hope these players now know that making Errors all over the pitch can cost peoples jobs, they haven't done anyone any favours. Ole had to go. We're do we go from here ?

Have wanted him out since the first half of 2019-20 but now that it's done I feel a bit sad. I will always feel that he let himself down when he didn't reconfigure his coaching staff by getting rid of Carrick and Phelan to bring in more innovative and experienced coaches to balance out some of his tactical shortcomings.

What can't be denied is that we are better off than we were in 2018 because he was manager. Now dreading another major feck up by Woodward and Co.

The last few months were painful but if nothing else, he made me feel like the United I knew was back for more than two years. For the first time since SAF left, I was looking forward to each of our matches around the year. I’m gutted he couldn’t take us to the promised land but his legend status is untarnished.

Glad he’s gone for his own sake, would have loved it had he proved me wrong and won things but he just wasn't good enough. Still an absolute legend, lets hope the board dont fk the next appointment up

Done some good work here, but ultimately was never good enough. He did at least have me believing again after the summer window. His second place felt as hollow as Jose's, as it was clear that some of the teams below us were far better coached. Nevertheless, I was buzzing coming into this season and the Leeds game really had me believing. We followed that up with the signing of Ronaldo, and it was the best I felt about the club post-Fergie

Unfortunately, since then it's all gone to shite. A squad I really believed in, has shown to still have glaring weaknessess despite what Ole has spent. Ultimately, I feel Ole staying on 5 or 6 weeks longer than he should have, has made some of the positives about his tenure, not look so positive. That's a-bit of a shame, and it's on the Board. Quite how things got this bad is beyond me, to be perfectly honest, but I suspect he lost the dressing room to a degree. Sure, they probably liked him, but could no longer look past his deficiencies.

I never wanted him kept on after his caretaker stint tbh, but he exceeded what I thought he was capable of. Standards were pretty low during his tenure, but we had some memorable moments. Finishing 2nd and 3rd was as good as that squad could have gotten, but the second place finish was unconvincing and riddled with caveats. I'm most grateful for the lift he gave the club post-Mourinho, which was pretty fantastic. Best of luck to him, and it would be nice if he gets a crack at managing a decent level club down the line.

Best new today, came late when it should happen at least a year ago. Totally out of his depth with players bailing him out. Bruno is so out of form, Rashford just coming back, Maguire brain fart so no one if bailing him. VDB almost bail him out yesterday luckily Maguire decision to take decision into his own hands to make sure that there is no comeback.

He was walking a tightrope, and with the expenditure on Sancho and Ronaldo it really is finally time for a title challenge. Results and performances of this nature, repeatedly, with this squad, made his position untenable.

"Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season."
So I guess they’re waiting for Poch to be available at the end of the season?

This. Simple. Not much to thank for and should be gone weeks ago. As usual bad management from the board and for God sakes for once I wish they make the right call.

Players should be ashamed for putting that kind of performances irrelvant to who was the managet.

Maguire and Shaw put their hrart out on england duty so not sure why they cant defend simple crosses playing for us.

When we done with LVG/Jose's dore football, credit to Ole he revived some pride and I looked forward for every week, this season is an exception though..Not sure if Ronaldo signing unravelled him or players stopped responding but overlall I always have a wrm feeling about him

For everyone who was thinking with his head and not with his heart, it was clear from day one that he was bad choice. I am angry because we lost 3 years on something which was set to be disaster from day one.
But what is done is done. I am happy that he left and i only hope that our board learned their lesson. Big club needs proven, high class manager. No more experiments, please.

I will not say "thank you Ole" like people do now because in reality i don't know for what to thank him. Same as it was with Moyes. Two reigns which i want to forget soon as possible

Ole failed but big clubs do need proven, high class managers?
The 2 most successful appointments in the last 15 years have been Zidane for Real and Guardiola for Barcelona, both legends that were not proven. And only 2 seasons ago Hansi Flick, also not proven, won a triple with Bayern.

Haven't you learned anything from the Ole appointment?

If a 12 year old gets behind the wheel and it makes it to his friend's house safely, why not let him keep driving?

My mum could win 2-3 games in a row with Manchester United. It's not an accomplishment. I'm being dead serious here. There's a good percentage chance she could, whether its 4% or 20% I don't know. Carrick hasn't accomplished anything as a manager, ever.

There's a greater chance Carrick implodes after a short good run than a more accomplished manager, the same way long term Carrick would probably do a better job than my mum long term.

There's tons of managers available with loads of experience the players know who the feck they are and will respect to a certain level. Get one of those 'till the end of the season.
It's obvious no one respected Ole, they were just happy to keep getting picked despite underperforming and he was one of the boys. So much was obvious from watching him yell at Martial to make off the ball runs for an entire season.

Besides it's clear as day the coaching is shit. Ole was responsible in the end, but it doesn't bode well for Carrick, McKenna and Phelan's chances as manager. A lot of top manager actually stood out as assistants first. Our poor coaching should be a warning sign.
Pipe down, we are talking about an interim manager here.
It's clear the board have an idea of who they want at the end of the season, of its Carrick till the end of the season then that'll be because he deserves it.

I think you need a lie down to be honest, this situation appears to have got to you

I'd say you need talented managers. It wouldn't have been so bad if the last 3 years were a punt on some talented young coach with a vision, who ultimately just wasn't good enough to win trophies. Instead we wasted 3 years on a manager who's talent level was fit for Norwegian football at best.

It's like giving first team football to a Championship level player hoping they'll come good. It's time wasted

Bullet for the improperly wounded animal. Too long overdue. Legend of a player. I think I will just pretend he never managed us.

A sad day, mostly for our rival fans you'd imagine

But in all honesty sad it didn't work out, but also relieved we can hopefully bring in a proper coach. The sentiment FC experiment has been a monumental failure.

Good decision. Don't rush appointing the next manager. Erik Ten Hag in the summer.
Your optimism is good but misplaced. This board only rewards short term gains. I am now fearful of Carrick or the next interim going on a decent run and then getting the job permanently.

Wouldn't be surprising though...

You're right

But Carrick still is a nobody as a manager. Why'd we want a nobody in charge as a manager even if it's as a interim? You wouldn't want a random 3rd division player from Spain as your starting CB would you? There's more respected managers in Qatar alone.

Chelsea have had multiple half decent interims. It can be done.

I disagree that Carrick will have deserved it. Have you met our board? Not being utter shite, being an ex player and protecting the glazers can land you this gig.

There's nothing Carrick can do to deserve the job 'till the end of the season in a handful of games.

Woodward making his 5th managerial appointment after 4 straight failures. He’s one of the most glaringly incompetent people in football.
To be fair, is there any of his appointments that weren’t well received at the time they were made? Moyes was Fergie’s choice, of course. Van Gaal and Jose were met with glee, and the fans were clamouring for Ole to get the job. You could argue that he should have seen past the emotion of fan opinion, but it was the obvious choice given he was massively exceeding expectations.

I so wanted this to work out but management of a top team was clearly beyond him.

Good luck Ole and thank you for steadying the ship .

Good luck Ole.

Not his fault that he was put in a situation he was hopelessly unqualified for. Any sane person would've accepted the job.

Should have left ages ago. He was hurting his own reputation and he became incredibly toxic as a manager to players careers with all the lies and false promises. If he truly loved the club/doing what's best for the club and wasn't just desperate to live out his dreams, he would've walked ages ago when he realized he was incompetent in that role.

One of the worst managers we've ever had, easily the worst post Sir Alex. Thank God he's gone.

Next.... the club are throwing away the season? What the feck. It's November. We are 6 points off 4th, have 2 CL group games left, a full FA Cup campaign and a great squad to work with. What the feck is wrong with this board. fecking incompetent club we've become, we're a joke.

The fact that United are looking for an interim manager in November just goes to show that they have learned absolutely nothing and done nothing, despite Murtough's title change and Fletcher's arrival, to improve their footballing structure off the pitch since Mourinho left.

A big club like Manchester United should have the capacity and structure to be able to change the manager/head coach mid-season, like the vast majority of other big clubs around the world can. Klopp and Tuchel both arrived at Liverpool and Chelsea mid-season, Conte has just gone in at Spurs. United can't go on writing season's off by just bringing on a sub-standard 'interim' every time they need to change the coach.
