I can see why he wasn’t successful if he thought making friends was an important thing. Fergie would’ve never been successful if that was his mindset.

Why would anyone have an issue with this? Why are we slating the club for this?

not sure why some people over here are saying this is weird. He ultimately wasn’t good enough and got sacked. However, being a club legend, he deserved to go with his head high.

Wanted him to succeed in the long run, unfortunately he didn’t. Great to see him speak before leaving. Good luck!

This whole business is showing a very ugly side of our fanbase.

Was he sacked or did he step down? It seems a bit of both.

I wanted him out but I am quite emotional after watching that interview. I am sure the fans will eventually welcome him back at OT with open arms.

I wish him the best. Incredible human being, unfortunately did not work out here, but wish him nothing but success.

Very sad video.

Highlights why he never should have been manager in the first place.

Sentiment will get you nowhere in sport.

Really the club and owners fault once again

Some of the posts in this thread makes me wish we get Julen Lopetegui as our next manager. Some fans here really deserve it.

And I hope Julen gives you all the finger as he announces he's going to Madrid in the middle of a crucial part of the season

I hope this wasn't his idea, seems a little cruel and unnecessary. A simple "thank you and good luck" would have sufficed.

Only thing embarrassing is some of the reactions in here.

Some of the comments already. What the feck. Stay classy Caf :houllier:

Personally think it's a nice touch from the club.

He even mentions that he plans to do zero interviews or talking to the press after. So he wanted to do this now, and go straight back to being a fan from afar.

Legend forever and always.

Absolutely. He was a fan that was thrown into becoming manager of the biggest club in world football. I just wish the club had stuck to their guns and let his temporary contract expire at the end of the first season. He’d be held in such greater regard than he is now. He’s been allowed to absolutely destroy his reputation.

I simply stated the squad is better than what he inherited. Which is clearly true. I did not say all his signings were great
It isn't clear though.

He's spent a fortune and I wouldn't say we're any better off for it really.

Bruno is his only real success during his time, but a lot of his squad will be an albatross around the next managers neck.

He's neglected the Pogba/DvB situation, kept hold of a lot of mediocre players and signed some for astronomical amounts.

If anything he's made the squad unbalanced. Far too many attackers, nowhere near enough cover or quality in midfield, same for defence really.

I understand wanting to handle his departure in a dignified manner, but a farewell interview is bizarre.

You could see what kind of person he is. Brilliant man. Unlike some of our fanbase in here, there is no hatred towards anyone.

Looks broken but understandable.

Our online fan base is pretty toxic, like most big clubs I imagine. Thankfully the fans who attend matches are some of the classiest around, imo they are anyway.

Still love the man, even if it got frustrating watching his interviews after horrible performances.

He has left us in better shape than when he joined. The performances may have been shocking but the team is in a very good position for the next manager to build upon. You can say that anyone could do that with the money spent, but other more prestigious managers didn't.

Maybe he felt this was a more personal message than just making a statement on twitter. Very sad to see.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
If what he's saying is true, we are fecked. If United is all about nostalgia and reconnecting with old buddies, we are not choosing people to work at our club because they are the best at their job, but because they are mates. Mental.

Some of the comments here are unbelievable. Show your human side for once. Yes he was not good enough, but that interview shows his human side and how much he loves the club. He clearly tried his very best in good faith but ultimately just was not good enough and he knows that, he is not an idiot. Loved the interview, shows we have got class and will always respect people.

Football means a lot, but it is not everything in life.

Thanks Ole for all that you have tried to do. Will always be a legend. Deserved to go. Shame it didn't work out.

His reputation will be back after a while. Most knew he wasn't good enough even back then. What we need is to move forward and use the good squad we have to challenge again.

Classy of him to do that.

While I was one of those who felt he was out of his depth and wanted us to part ways with him, I do hope when the dust has settled he comes back and watches a game and receives a fantastic ovation

It already looks as if some of the weight has lifted off him, I know he's emotional but is probably feeling a bit of relief that it's over

Well my guess is he's done his interview now so he can go back home and not have to deal with the press trying to get a word,
Hopefully we can take the next step with someone else.
