Pretty miserable night all round - the sending off in 30 mins didn't help of course but that has to be one of our worst results in the past 10 years.

That squad is brutal and needs to be overhauled.

Mourinho never stood a chance and Conte wont either without serious investment.

He hasn't even had a transfer window yet. Spurs need to be patient and accept that they've fallen away from the side that reached a European Cup final in 2019. That squad needs an overhaul.

Really strange that he even took it after rejecting it in the summer. Probably walk at the end of the season. Juventus again maybe? Allegri blud doesn’t seem to be doing amazingly

I bet he's regretting accepting the job now. Could have waited and he would have landed a better job or at least be in the run for United job regardless of him getting it or not at the end. He rushed into this appointment.

Won't surprise me if he resigns at the end of the season if Levy decided to not reinforce the team.

That’s hilarious. Mura have been really poor this season too, I feel slightly bad that they had to have their best ever result in their biggest rival’s stadium.

I just look at their group. Basically they have to win against Rennes who is guaranteed top in the last game, while hoping Vitesse not to win their last game against Mura (bottom of the table). Conte's European record...

While it's funny to laugh at Spurs, I was hoping them to progress so they have some distraction. Conte team solely focusing in the league may benefit them immersely.

I don't think he will regret it. He is well paid and can't overturn spurs attitude in two weeks time. He will make them good. Today s match is not the scale in any way mostly played with ten men.

I agree with this - the squad is terrible, like really terrible and we need a huge amount of investment (and a load of players binned)

I doubt he cares if we get knocked out of this competition at all to be honest

He will improve mate. You will see real difference in mid December period if injury permitting his main 11 will sweep most mid lower teams and earn you enough points before you upgrade in January window.

Spurs is a step down for Conte. He is used to managing teams that challenge for the top. This Spurs squad will take ages to turn into a title challenging one (and probably will never be). Spurs are easily the worst team he has managed since he got the Juve job.

Do you think your players really even want to be in this competition? The same with Roma and their recent loss a few weeks back. I remember Jose saying he found it hard to motivate some of his United players on Thursdays when we were in the Europa League. God knows what it's like with this competition.

I don't rate this Spurs squad as anything special but i can sort of see why motivation and morale might be low for clubs the size of you and Roma.

I was saying Conte may benefit from less distraction. However, it does leave another negative mark on his European record.

I saw a tweet yesterday, with Conte implying Tottenham may be his toughest challenge thus far (my point somewhere in this thread, which saw few posters disagree when Conte freshly appointed).

Yeah I don't think we care about being in the competition at all really - it's a distraction from what we really want to focus on though to get a result like tonight is just terrible

Yes mostly true what you said but he took teams really struggled even chelsea and inter not in their best. Conte is confident man about his ability. He took the job as challenge he will come out on top as he always do.

Spurs may not win anything but top 4 still he can achieve and that's trophy for them anyway.

Dodged a bullet
I feel that hiring Ralf until the summer then getting a coach who we see as the person to bring success over the next few years is definitely the way to go but Conte is seriously underrated on here.

That’s an all-time tragic result. United had a few in recent years, so won’t laugh too much.

What’s happened with Davidson Sanchez? Saw him play brilliantly for Ajax on a couple of occasions but doesn’t seem to have established himself as a top defender yet.

And Apparently he was awful again tonight?

You know I do be thinking that Spurs since Poch left has made me believe that Poch actually is a elite level manager. Yes he got no trophies but he got top 4 consistently and CL final

Oh yea, Midtjylland and Cambridge United immediately come to mind

Re Conte, that Spurs squad is painfully average and to be fair, it was never that great and it shows how good of a job Poch did there. I am sure Conte will make them better in time but it's really hard to see his and Levy's relationship lasting long.

Perhaps Mourinho was right all along identify him as weak link in that Ajax team. Spurs got the weong CB/ bad deal out of it and no amount of coaching can change that. Teams figure him out and his weaknesses get exposed more and more.

Whoever Spurs' head of recruitment is should of been sacked with NES, although I suspect Levy has a big part to play in recruitment. I just look at the players they have signed in the past say 5 years and 90% of them are poor to average. Son I am assuming was over 5 years ago, so excluding him Hojbjerg and Moura are the only two that seem to be good signings. This has been going on for a while so it is not down to any one manager. I guess you could argue Reguilon is good, but RM can come back in for him at any time with his buy back clause right?

Levy needs to let Conte wield the axe and then back him in the xfer market, whether that happens or not is another thing.

Also that Ajax team where such a good team, yes they had great players but it seems they were better as a unit.
