I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
We took far too long to sack Ole. Now it will be hard to get top 4 . He has left us 8th and many points behind. He should have been sacked earlier before too much damage was done.
Still I'm super excited to see what we can achieve with the new setup. I think the future is bright.

I really don't think it's that hard in fairness.

We simply have to rack up:
• 7 more points than West Ham of the 78 left to play for.
• 4 more points than Arsenal of the 78 left to play for.
• 3 more points than Spurs of the 78 left to play for.

We have a much better squad than all the above.

SO many games to be played, even on sheer individual quality we would be attacking top 4, since the season is long and other teams will feck up, WestHam will fall from the cliff and Arsenal might have a better season but they will drop many points too. If we improve at least 10-15% we will surely get it.

Outside chance to go on a run and chase the pack up top :wenger: but yeah we will have to win those duels and hope they lose some points. Let's start with Chelsea tomorrow

Shouldn’t be an issue getting 4th providing Rangnick gets us organised and competent. We have an amazing squad of players.

Looking at it like that, it does seem a lot more achievable. And yes our squad is miles better

I’m a bit worried about the news that Rangnick won’t be in place until after Arsenal. If Arsenal win at OT on Thurs and United lose again tomorrow, it is all but done for top four this season. We would be nine points behind Arsenal and very likely seven or nine behind West Ham too. Good luck overturning that with 24 games to play with a very inconsistent side.
Yea but im a bit more confident after the other night. Carrick had us looking better already, I'm looking forward to the next few games. When does Rangnick take his 1st training session??

the great thing about appointing an interim who will be involved in the long term planning is it’s more logical to give him funds for January than if it was just a six month appointment

I think that will be key because we need a midfielder and split up McT to really get this train moving

That’s 72 points to play for man.

And Arsenal are as inconsistent as anyone.

So much promise at the start of the season….now it’s back to rooting for chelsea by virtue of them not being Liverpool or City. What a load of shite

I expect to lose comfortably tomorrow but Thursday is a huge game for top 4. Lose that and it's unlikely. Arsenal and West Ham have been pretty consistent this calendar year.

We have amazing attacking options. Our midfield and defensive options are pretty shite, Varane and maybe Donny aside.

Then people shouldn't write off Ole just yet.

Klopp didn't win anything in his first 3 seasons, after he signed his marquee signings he won something. We came close, and points accumulation rising for each season under Ole.

I believe he can show the world, that managers can have breakthroughs, people don't want to believe it, but anything can happen in football.
You know how tough the league was in his 2nd and 3rd season? you needed 76 and 75 point tally each of those season's to make the 4th spot. In Ole's 2nd and 3rd season, you needed 66 points to make 3rd spot and 74 points to make 2nd. Those were really very poor season for everyone par the winner and you thought that would go in Ole's favour?

It's really funny looking back at this thread and many others in this forum to see how the people who defended Ole's performance over his time in United, were comparing him to more accomplished coaches and what data they use to make him look good, maybe they should look more closely on what they are using. I am not a United fan or Liverpool fan, but it's really disappointing to how far people will reach to defend someone and how blind they could be to what is in front of them sometimes.

I still can’t get my head around how we suddenly became a crap team almost over night. Wining away at Wolves and West Ham to not just getting humiliated by Liverpool and City at home, but dropping 5 points to Villa and Everton at OT. Then the hammering at Watford.

If we can cobble together any kind of winning run, we would be right in the top 4 race. It’s not the title race, every team will be inconsistent, mid 60s were enough the last 2 seasons so getting about 50 out of the remaining 78 is well within reach.

We will be able to challenge for 4th place with Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham. I think it will be between us and Spurs (because of Conte).

This depend on how fast Rangnick could implement his style of play and get familiar with PL. The players also need to buy into his ideas and adapt to the style of play quickly.

I think Spurs will be a real problem with Conte.

Good thing is that he is also at the early stages of his management and the team still needs to adjust to his tactics.

Whoever implements his style of football the fastest between Ralf and Conte takes the 4th place spot.

I would like to believe that with our individual quality we can keep up with the pack but the moment we adjust to the new system and tactics we will have the strongest claim for the top 4 spot

Title is gone, but its baffling people saying top 4 is in November. We should 100 percent be getting top 4 with the players we have, and there's more than enough time and points to achieve it.

I hope arsenal are just having a mini good spell and not that things have finally clicked under arteta, otherwise top 4 will be really tough.

I’m not too fussed about where we finish, given that the CL is practically wrapped up

Nine points in 24 matches seems more than doable.
We havent lost yet, but if we have to gain 10 points, means winning 3 possibly 4 more than Arsenal and West Ham. Doable, and hopefully RR has it in him to pull it off, but Arsenal and West Ham are also improving. Spurs under Conte might go on a run as well. Saying that Ive never felt this confident and excited with a new manager in a long while. Lets hope the anticipation of what is to come matches the reality.

So after 1/3 of season gone, we're on 18 points, 5 points off 4th place, 12 points off Chelsea who are 1st. Last season we were on 26 points after 13 games, 5 points behind Liverpool in first (with a game in hand). Looks obvious that Chelsea, City and Liverpool are taking first 3 places and then it's one place left in a top 4. Tottenham got Conte now, Arsenal basically play one game a week, West Ham are solid like last season and Leicester should improve. So even though we've got better team than Tottenham/Arsenal/West Ham/Leicester, we have to start playing like it as soon as possible, hopefully Rangnick can get some good results against Arsenal and Palace and then we've got easier run in December, January and February.

We’ll take fourth, but I’d like us to at least be within 10 points of third. Doubtful that will happen.

Massive result against Arsenal though, it felt like a must win by any means possible and could be decisive come May.

I think Chelsea will drop off but we're not getting near Liverpool or City.

This is assuming Rangnick can actually turn things around fairly quickly as well. Otherwise 4th is going to be a battle given the mess of our performances so far.

If West Ham loses to Chelsea, we beat CP, and Arsenal and Tot draw this weekend, we are 5th and on same point total as WH. Doesn't seem to hard to me.

Top 4 is well within our grasp mainly by just how poor most teams are outside the top 3 including us of course. I wonder if West Ham could be the Leicester of the past seasons by putting in a strong shout throughout. Difficult to see how well Conte can do, it's really up for grabs for the gaggle of clubs. We should have enough to get it unless some real fallouts happen over training/selections.

I can feel ten fingers around the top four trophy already. Question is, do we have it within us to put in a proper CL trophy run?
