Got myself familiar with this guy in the past few days by listening to bunch of pundits talking about this man. My prediction is that he will fail in the similar fashion as Moyes. He will try to implement his plan, players are going to resent him and all will go to sh1t. Some fans will defend him and explain he will need more time, others will crucify him and mention how he never had any success at big clubs.

I am not questioning that this guy is smart, organized and obviously very well respected by both Klopp, Tuchel and other football people. I think Manchester United as an organization is not ready for this guy. I think too many of our players do not fit this guy's vision of how football should look like according to him. He likes young, fast players. We got few. Will they fall in line or cry their way out of the club? I am a pessimist about this guy as an interim coach, but I am somewhat optimistic about the next coach IF this guy survives 6 months. All it takes for things to get ugly is to get knocked out of UCL by a lesser team and 3-4 bad results in EPL in a row. We have shown that we are capable of that under every single coach before RR and after sir Alex.

I hope I am wrong.
If this is based off the Ronaldo/Messi comments, he actually means his job at RB is to get in players of those profile.

Feck me....you did move the goal posts......

Originally I responded to a post from Random Task saying that not many top clubs were lining up to bring him in....(see below)

I Posted a video from the Athletic proving that many clubs were after him in the past....2:45 seconds onwards David Ornstein (captioning as best I can):

"He was previously heavily linked with Chelsea, heavily sounded out by Chelsea on taking the job on an interim basis when Frank Lampard was sacked, but I don't think there were any assurances about staying on beyond that period in charge. Whereas Manchester United have clearly offered an enticing prospect for him"

Again at 6:00 onwards. David Ornstein (captioning as best I can)

"The information I have coming out of Old Trafford is that John Murtough was the driving force behind this appointment. Of course there was a number of candidates spoken to, but it seems that Ralf Rangnick has emerged head and shoulders above the rest and after a number of potential opportunities to join English clubs consideration, I wrote about it in The Athletic in 2018, he was on Arsenals shortlist, Tottenham have looked at him in the past, West Bromwich Albion have looked at him"

You said the below:

Henceforth you moving the goal posts....as you implied that 'it's not the same'.....so this I would assume that either you believed that the clubs weren't after him as a manager and rather as a board level position....or that just because they were after him, doesn't mean that he would be a success, which of course is true. But doesn't negate the fact that they were indeed after him.

So you did move the goal posts, I proved clubs were after him and after proving clubs were after him, you said yeah but that doesn't mean that he won't be successful. Again, this much is true, but we go from admittedly another poster parring him off as being a 'nobody' (because no top club has signed him) then proving that top clubs were after him, the goal posts were moved, because you changed the original point.

"No top clubs are after him" is totally different to "just because top clubs are after him doesn't mean he'll be successful"

But as @roonster09 stated, I did give context, I even quoted the original post when posting the video!

May not have been a thread but it was a post, again see below Random Task's post about not being coveted by a top club below:

So did you go back and read the original post I was quoting?
Wow, that’s... long! I’m impressed by your persistence if nothing else!

Moving the goal posts would mean that it was ME (notice the emphasis) who had set the parameters, and again ME (emphasis again) who had gone outside of them. Unless you are saying that every known discussion on this forum involves goalpost- moving as by your definition that’s what happens. You probably know deep down that that would be an absurd assumption, an absurd way to define moving of goalposts as it would encapsulate almost all discussion that progresses in any way. Not that I expect you to acknowledge that of course!

 Ralfie has one hell of the job after years of under-coaching. Some of our players better start shoring up their PR teams.
If they choose to not listen to him and force him out because he does not suit their precious mentalities I will start to hate them.

We can analyse his history …or lack of…within the game and speculate on who he plays where and how we play as team until the proverbial cows come home. The simple truth is it’s a results business and if he loses (badly) 4 games in a row he’ll be gone ..just like the others after SAF.

Surely it’s very possible to move us half way up that statistical table, and that in itself should translate into better performances and more points?
Yep. It would nearly be more impressive if we managed to stay bottom of those measures, because being that shite takes some doing. We're bound to improve.

Bizzare, and Carrick and his incompetent team is gonna be the coaches under Ragnick ? FFS United needs to stop living in the past. That is only a sign of mental health problems. For the last 10 years United have played incredible boring fotball with no major success. We have not played attractive fotball since 09 imo. United DNA my ass.

Because saying anything against United is a money spinner. Even if we were winning every game by 5 the media would question if we're too dominant and need breaking up.

The fact [Manchester] United have brought in Ralf Rangnick as an interim to replace the interim before they get the man they really want is ridiculous,” Redknapp told The Sun.

“I have never heard anything so stupid in my life, whichever way you look at it.”

He added, “If they wanted Mauricio Pochettino, as we were led to believe, then there were ways and means to make it happen now.

“And if they had to wait for him, they should not have pushed [Michael] Michael aside and put someone above him for a few months. What does that say? We have got no faith in you?”The thing is, he [Carrick] knows [Manchester] United inside out.

“He has got a great footballing brain — you don’t play the game how he did unless you understand it.

“If they needed to bring in anyone before a manager was appointed, then get a coach alongside him because they were a man down after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left.

“They should have just gone for someone experienced, but let Michael run the show until then.”

Former Bayern technical director Reschke offered insight into the 63-year-old.

"Ralf will expect his staff to work 18 hours a day at Manchester United. Or maybe 17 because even he recognises they have a right to sleep," Reschke told .....

I know he spent that many hours with his coaching staff but i think he might spend atleast 5/6 hours a day with players....Wondering if any of our players will warm to all his hard working training methods of 6 to 7 long hours

If we want to go back to winning anything of note, hard work is the only option. Pep, Tuchel and Klopp are just as obsessed. It is the ceiling now. We tried with a relaxed approach, but as seen, it doesn't work. I'd suggest to any player that doesn't want to put the work in to request a transfer.

The club had to negotiate with his employer and he needs a work permit.
So what do we think then? Either it will be announced Monday to take away the story after a probable Chelsea loss. Or, considering it’s a work permit and people probably don’t work the weekends on it, it’s gonna be some time next week and he’ll probably miss the Arsenal game. I have a sinking feeling that’s gonna be the case. These things always seem to drag out longer than we expect. And with Brexit, even longer.

Probably result in a fair few muscle injuries too. Hopefully to the right players :) so that we can see some more of the squad get a chance.

Thanks, I thought it was agreed with Lokomotiv a couple days ago from reports. That sort of sucks because if he hasnt got a work permit sorted, do we assume hes not in Manchester?

We obviously have no clue as fans but would have been ideal to see him take the first training session after todays game.
