Like every other team we have faced at OT. Which team hasn't looked like prime Barca?

I mean we even made Everton look like that, look at the state of their team.

I really hope Carrick shows some bottle, we can't always set up 7 defensive players.
For the life of me I don’t understand why we can’t gain some controlled possession in games this season, I mean it’s not much to ask.

Something to build attacks from, just a bit of coherent fecking possession.

It wasnt this bad last season, why can’t they do it this season ffs? So frustrating this season has been.

It’s like the phrase ‘pass and move’ doesn’t exist in our vocabulary. Nobody can retain possession by moving into space to receive the ball. Drives me nuts.

He can just give some free tips unofficially but it's different when he's in charge full-time.

The problem with United is that we announce and/or leak to the press and then do the work. Other clubs do the opposite. The only exception I can remember is Mourinho being sacked but that appeared to have been in the works for a long time

Having a good source literally makes him more credible than the majority of journalists, that's the point.

9/10 of all them all throw out rumours and stories. The simple fact is though he got this one spot on while nobody else did, and you cannot deny that.

There's no getting lucky with a report like that, he got fed info quite clearly. You can believe whatever you like but that has pushed him up a notch.
Of course it does  you can't ignore something he got before anybody else ( and got it spot on ) just because he's said things in the past that hasn't happened.

Football changes a lot and there's lots of different information available. Would you call Romano reliable? He spouts just as much nonsense as anybody.
On Romano - I don't believe anyone could possibly have their finger on the pulse of every transfer in every top league in Europe so no I don't agree with this god-like status nonsense.

On Castles, I don't think you're thinking logically here. What he says in the past affects his reputation for having trustworthy info. If he's wrong a lot of the time, how can you trust anything he says?

Yes, in hindsight he was correct this time, but if he comes out with a story nobody else has, I will be sceptical until I see that being corroborated by others because a lot of what he says is guff. Have you ever listened to his podcast?

Just feels like we're stuck in this stupid limbo because the club didn't have the foresight to do all this during the break, instead they gave everyone a weeks holiday, a decision that looks more baffling by the day
Look can’t we get past this now and move on? Every single little thing used to bash the club becomes a bit irritating after a while.

I mean that wasn't a little thing and the criticism is completely deserved. It was nonsensical and we were the running joke of European football for persisting with a lame duck coach.

Ole should have been out even long before that - It was over after Liverpool and everyone knew it. That's cost us against Watford and is still hurting us now. The board are a disgrace.

Ralf could just book the closest hotel to Carrington and signal instructions to Carrick via morse code with an old flashlight.
That's not breaking any immigration laws.

Knowing how inept we are I sure hope we made the contract contingent on the work permit as if we end up with an interim that can't join the country, it will be the most "Glazers" thing recently that's happened...

Aren't there enough threads to bitch and moan about a performance that got us a point away to league leaders Chelsea while in diabolical form with a guy at the helm who's never managed before?
Nobody's bitching and moaning. It is what it is. Good result in perspective, but it was hardly how you'd hope to see the team perform. Still, job done and now comes Ralf.

Look, we felt he should go but the board were split on it and obviously thought that by sending him away for a weeks holiday that a bit of breathing space would do everyone good. That is their right to do so.
Now the decision is made, look forward and stop banging on about what’s already been. It’s been discussed to death already

I think it is completely fair to point out that had club acted on Ole earlier we would not have been in this situation - stuck in limbo with Carrick until Rangnick gets the visa. International break would have been perfect to arrange a much more orderly transition.

You're only as good as your last story IMO.

For all the pissing in the wind he might have done before, this time he's got some iron clad information from a clearly well placed source. That may well mean he will get that again in the future.

I follow most 'decent' journalists in twitter and pretty much all of them have an agenda of some sort. Castles loves to clickbait people into his postcast, but it's clear on this occasion he got fed info by somebody that nobody else got.

Also nicely illustrates the basic idiocy of the work permit rules, with its pointless and irrelevant criteria.

Think some people are vastly overrating Rangnick's ability to revolutionise the team with a few training sessions.
We might see no difference, or we might be a completely different team in 2 months time. Hard to say isn't it?

A lot of tactical work can be done by presentations and demonstrations anyway, he can definitely make some improvements/adjustments by just talking.

We've dropped an absolute clanger here by going for a man, with good intentions, literally one game after a two week international break. Sheer incompetence.

Just getting him inside Carrington is a marathon effort according to those tweets just posted

The requirements are standard.

It says he can get an exception provided the applicant is:
1) Holding responsibility for the first team
2) Holds a UEFA Coaching licence
3) Joins a club without an existing manager
4) Has managed in a top league for a period of time.

He'll be fine - if the last tweet with the requirements is accurate, he will meet all of them.

Hm, a panel appointed by the same people who extended Southgate's contract.

Imagine if they reject Rangnick because he doesn't some arbitrary artificial standard. It probably won't happen but how annoying is that

From what I've seen and heard from him based on watching multiple long interviews about his ideas and such I think if he has a say on transfers we are more likely going to take a different approach under him.

He likes to go after really young players with a high ceiling in potential for relatively good prices rather than spending fortunes on "superstars"
From what he said about young players (17 to 23), buying players like Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Amad Diallo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Facundo Pellistri, Danny James, and several younger prospects like Hannibal Mejbri, fits very well with Rangnick’s plan.

Also promoting the likes of Tuanzebe, Gomes, Chong, Greenwood, Garner, Williams, Elanga, Mejbri and Shoretire to the first team squad, and Mengi, Laird, Gailbraith and Levitt for spells, should be something he wishes to continue rather than change up. He also said the balance of player ages is very good already in the United squad.

What will be interesting is if he will have different choices on what profile of players to play, who to give cameos and who to loan out. And if he will make changes in how the academy teams train and play with regards to being ready for the first team style of play.

It may be fair but it's boring and has been discussed endlessly. This is the Rangnick thread, so feel free to discuss the board in the threads on them and the Glazers etc...

Those are the requirements for an automatic one, he hasn't managed enough in the last few years in order to qualify for that, you need to read point 17 and below, he has to go through an exceptions panel, read the next page from point 23 onwards in order to get through the exceptions panel

Because we are committed to the right decision and going through the red tape ?
Seems a bit of a weird thing to have a go at the club for.
Think most people are staggered we did not do all this during the international break instead of letting it get drawn out, but there are probably good reasons that we are not party to.

This is due to Brexit. But this club spent the two weeks of the international break doing nothing.

I'm sorry but that's madness and using words like iron-clad doesn't make the approach any less so.

Oh he got the last one right so I trust the next one.

Oh he got that one wrong so I won't trust the next thing he says.

For me, trust is built up over time and Castles has proven himself to be a bs artist over years and if he really had a source on the board he wouldn't have spouted so much crap. Because of that he's not what I would consider a trustworthy source but carry on with your flip-flop logic if it makes sense to you.

I want to know how the feck Ted Lasso was granted a work permit so fast having never managed a soccer team or national team ever in his entire fecking life. This is madness!
