Great respect for Carrick, left with his head held very very high.

A true club legend.

The right call. Might be a future for him there, but shouldn't be handed it for no reason and let the new manager bring his people in.

He did great getting those results while having some important players out injured.

People getting what they wanted. To me it’s sad to see a former player leave.

He has done a good job for us, he came in during a terrible time and turned the results around, can't ask for more than that. He clearly has a talent for this and hopefully he will learn more under Ralfy.

We can't stop the nonsense about him having to leave now

Got us through to CL knockout stages and closer to the top 4. Probably the best he could do in just 3 games.

Bruno hugging him for so long at FT was probably first indication he's fully gone.

15 and a half years at United. Thank you, Carrick.

Hope he's developed enough experience here under van Gaal and Mourinho + under the Ole regime.

Would be nice if he succeeds as a manager elsewhere and comes back here.

So he's not part of the new coaching stuff.

Thanks for everything Carrick. You did a brilliant job as a caretaker. I will probably remember those 3 games more fondly than the entire 3 years of Ole's shitshow.

Good luck in the future. I hope he tests himself as a manager in another club.

Nice one for these results Carrick, you're a top man. I'm glad the new manager/director/whatever Ralf is has been able to make his own calls.

The statement is trailing it as his decision, but I don't suppose we'll know for sure right now.

He’s turned it around nicely for us, fair play walking out, hopefully he goes and has success elsewhere.

Yes good call. I wonder if he might come back at some stage in some capacity.

i actually enjoyed the 3 games he managed. Felt the football was better. Finally some high pressing. I think he’ll continue as a coach

Hes also a legend for me. Such a top midfielder, idiots like Roy Keane have been unfairly digging him out of late.

Did well suddenly taking over some tough fixtures after a torrid run of form.

Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

He has done well, and as a result, Rangnick's job will be a little easier.

I think he is almost certain to stay at the club in some capacity, or else he would not have been give the temporary manager role.

Sad to see him leave. His decision apparently. Perhaps he feels that he should share responsibility with Ole for the failings this season. If so I have a lot of respect for that.

I didn’t see much that Carrick showed that Ole didn’t until the recent collapse. None of the 3 performances were that good apart from the results. However, he did the job he was given, so fair play.
I agree with that, today was hopefully the last hurrah of vibes football.

My respect for Carrick, did the right thing. Hopefully his coaching career is going to flourish and maybe one day he can be a part of United again, but really needed to go now.

Wow, wasn't expecting this at all... thought he should have been let go but big respect to him with as it was his own decision. What a leaving present as well.

Will watch his career from here on with interest, wish him all the best for the future. Hard to believe he's not Scholes.

Gutted - great servant for United.
Think there was a role for him to continue his development and education under the new manager.
Good luck for the future, would be great to see him prove himself elsewhere and return to the club one day.

Wow, I'm quite surprised by this. I'll forever thank him for stopping the rot immediately.

He did a good job with the short time he had. Fair play to him. Always loved him as a player. I want a player like him in our midfield so badly.
