Come on, mate. Granted, they haven't actually lit up Old Trafford with glory but it wasn't that grim. A number of semi-finals, a final, a second-place finish and qualifying for Europe over consecutive seasons. We also had a number of notable results during their years together.

Yes, it's time to part ways and start a new chapter for the club. However, even that does not guarantee future success.
Interestingly even you forgot a Europa League trophy.

jaysus the hyperbole

finishing top 4 and getting to a European final is hardly catastrophic
I don’t watch only the results, but also the quality of the game expressed

Dreadful if compared to city, liverpool, bayern etc
They play a different sport

Get him signed up and let’s stop pretending he’s anything other than our best player ffs.

We keep watching absolute dross like tonight and so many are still so desperate to get rid of him. Madness to me.

Keep your best players and sign new ones to bring the balance the squad needs to get the best from them. It’s how you build a top squad who are capable of challenging.

He wouldn't still be here if there'd been any serious bids that come close to our value  :houllier: that's pretty obvious from the outside looking in.
From the outside looking in, it never appeared as though we were trying to sell him. The stance was always "Pogba isn't for sale". "IF" that stance were to change, perhaps we would see some offers...

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Saw the thread bumped and knew Pogba was suddenly our saviour yet again with not playing... Until he starts playing again and we all remember how bloody frustrating he is and unable to make his talents into something tangible for the team.

He'd have looked a clown tonight with those Newcastle players all over him whilst he tries to hold off 5 players in our own half of the pitch.

He would be ideal if he could retain the ball under pressure which he cannot. You put him in MF tonight and he would get caught in possession umpteen times.

Yep, pretty much sums up my thoughts... though it's a shame he's pretty much certain to be a goner now. The extended periods over the last 3 years where we've played our best football as a team have pretty much all coincided with him being available and in form (i.e. 2018/19 BCD).

Even if we accept he's not the once in a generation midfielder we thought he'd be, he's still comfortably in the top 2 or 3 players in the squad and we're missing him pretty heavily at the moment. Think he's be ideal in the wide left playmaker role with Sancho on the opposite side.

I cannot imagine why Pogba might have genuine doubts about committing to United longer term.

feck me, even Martial is wondering whether he’s above it.

Disagree. Our best periods came directly after we signed bruno.

Bruno has gone to shit as well though.

Our productivity went up and we started turning losses in to draws and wins, but I believe our best football that season came when they were both fit and firing in the team after lockdown.

I think they bring the best out of eachother as theh both see pictures that no one else in our squad does, no idea how we get them both in the same team now though...

I thought the poster was just talking about the Ole and Pogba combination as being one of his darkest. To be fair, even if he did not mean that I did forget that trophy.:wenger:

Really like Pogba as a player but I don't think a renewal makes sense for us. We just aren't well developed enough of a team to accommodate his flaws. We already have Ronaldo and Bruno who give the ball away a lot. Which means our midfield needs to be even more reliable in possession and controlling games, and also have the legs to make up ground. Pogba with two energetic CMs could work but not with Bruno around. And Bruno isn't going anywhere (although he's been terrible this season)

This. I think he is our best outfield player when it’s not a dead ball situation.

His passing range is sublime and he has both dribbling and physicality which he uses well. Keeps the ball too compared to the dross we have playing for us in the middle right now.

In the Euros he was the player every team wanted in their side. He was so much above most players and yet people pick out the few mistakes despite the mostly brilliance.

Has 7 assists this season and people don’t even care. Always make up some excuse to why Pogba’s stats don’t count but everyone else’s do.

He brings in so much money for the club regardless. One of the best midfielders on the planet easily.

Some don’t want to admit it but he’s a world class player. He’s been involved in pretty much every good game we had under ole and Jose. We are so much better with him in the team. These injury lay offs are frustrating, esp when we have to watch Fred and mctominay in midfield who were bypassed so easily today.

Are you sure about those figures?

If they are true 7 presses per game is really poor. Any less and you're barely moving. That can't be classed as being a lot better.
Thats how many matches (90 mins) its based on. I'm saying Pogba's numbers are based on 7 matches, while Fred's are almost double that with 12 and Lingard and James' numbers were based on not even 2 matches. So really Pogba's 19.4 presses per 90 is proven more than for example James' 22 presses per 90 when he only played 1.4x 90 mins.

After yesterday's matches it looks like this for us

And again keep in mind the 90s. The more games the harder it is to keep up a higher amount. After yesterday McTominay started to close the gap after being our DM with the most defensive work (though not good on the ball)

Where the grass is greener.
There's not many things more certain than Pogba coming back from a lengthy injury layoff and having some absolutely brilliant performances and looking like the exact player everyone wants him to be. Even if its just for a little bit, which it tends to be, bloody hell could we do with that right now.

I think he should leave for so many reasons. This club is a mess on it's playing staff and that dressing room has the wrong type of leadership at the mo and doesn't fit with his energy. Too many bulls is one pen....

Put Pogba in that midfield last night and I can almost guarantee he’d have put the ball into Ronaldo and Greenwood multiple times.

We desperately need to bring in another midfielder that is an assist machine. It’s every bit as important as a defensive midfielder imo.

Love him or fecking hate him, nobody can deny that when Pogba doesn’t play we have zero creativity from the central positions.

If only he was as creative or as good as the midfield maestros we had against Newcastle

but lost it t a Newcastle player twice as many times.

He's just too slow for the PL.

You could well be right, that he is slow for the PL.

However I think it's not always about a players speed but the type of ball that is played in.

We simply don't play balls in with the right pace or in the right area to maximise our forwards abilities.

Where I do get cheesed off is when we have Cavani run to the near post and the ball passes him there is no one running in at the back post.

Pogba does have the ability to play in the right ball, something which I don't see in other players currently.

The Athletic claim that our offer to him is £400k a week.
Indeed, and what's more, it's 4 years deal. (3+1)

Source -Article on The Athletic published on 19 Aug 2021, by Laurie Whitwell

The Athletic has been told that fresh terms, a significant improvement on his £290,000 per week, were offered during the second part of 2020-21 but Pogba is yet to respond to that proposal. Sources believe the offer was as much as £400,000 per week, making Pogba the highest paid player at United above David de Gea’s £375,000 per week, and stretching to 2025 with the option of a further year.
If this can be believed and such a huge offer is still on the table, but he hasn't signed on yet, then I think he might think Raiola will get him a better offer elsewhere.

I hope the club pull the offer now and let Pogba know that he is free to speak with other clubs in 3 days from now.

They probably don’t like the 3 + 1 aspect of it because it potentially only takes him to 32. I thinks at least one sensible aspect of it from the point of view of the club.

he will be 33 yo in March 2026, after that he can wind down his career at somewhere like MLS or even Italy/France.

so basically this offer secures him until he is 2 to 3 years from retirement.

He‘d be 32 after 3 years so we don’t have to extend if his injury record continues to be bad and/or he drops off. In ordinary times a player of his profile would be hoping for at least 4 years for what could be their last big contract.

It’s hilarious that so many love to see our current midfield on the pitch and the best midfielder from the Euro’s packing his bags.

Some here deserve to see tripe because they literally ask for it. No offence.

nowhere near , Pogba was a cog in that french team.

you can argue harry maguire was one of the best defenders in europe after the euros. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/england-euro-2020-player-ratings-b1883314.html

how many saying that now?

my point is never compare international tournament to club football . ever.
