I just don’t see it with our midfield. If we’d been banging in goals for fun this season whilst being relatively weak at the back then we could see a crazy run deep into it with big score lines.

Don’t think we have that control in games that will be tight to see us over the line. I firmly believe he we got through the groups last year, we’d have had a chance.

I mean, anything can happen in the CL. Worse teams have won it. But I really wouldn't bet on it.

Anything can happen in a cup competition. But the danger is, if City have wrapped up the league by then, not only City, but Chelsea and Liverpool will throw everything at it.

Everybody keeps blaming the midfield and the midfield is weak for sure but it’s attack that’s horribly misfiring and not linking up or pressing. Apart from Ronaldo nobody has more than 5 goals. That’s the problem. You’re paying an attack world class wages. Hardly a world class return. They actually get enough of the ball and do get chances. They just haven’t figured each other out or tried hard enough. They simply don’t work hard enough for each other. 4th gear for too many of our attackers is jogging around

i had a big punt on us at 8/1 at the start of the season when I saw our signings and after Chelsea surprised everyone. Foolish bet in hindsight

If, and it is an if of humongous magnitude, the team get their act together and somehow pull together in a system that does not give up a lot of chances to the opposition in every game then why not? Ronaldo is still Mr. Champions League.

However, it is the hope that kills you. Atleti are knocking us out definitely.

Worser teams in the league have won CL but most of them would have had a solid defense which we don't have. A good defense is integral to winning cups and Champions league.

It's just not possible to watch our dismal performances and have any hope of winning the CL. We get outplayed by pretty much every team we face.

I fear Sporting would tear us a new one.

I suppose if the players can be motivated by a CL run, we somehow hit some good form in the second half of the season we could go deeper than you'd think right now, maybe even pull off a counter attack style win. We'd have to ride the luck PSG away style to do it in multiple matches. We'll get blitzed most likely.

Absolutely. The players all believe that they can win the champs league unlike the premier league so there will be no motivation issues.

So much comes down to the draw. I couldn't see us competing with City or Bayern over two legs, but let's say we get past Atletico and draw the winners of Benfica/Ajax or Juve/Villareal we'd have a good chance of reaching the semi's. Chelsea would also be a close tie that we could edge.

The players raise their game in the CL because they know it too and they all want to go far in the competition.

I think when the board didn’t replace Ole while we were getting embarrassed in the league by every team that the players stopped caring. They saw the owners didn’t care where we finish so they stopped trying in the league.

Problem is Athletico will raise their game too. They are struggling a bit like us.

Ronaldo will be up for this and he's gonna work his balls off as will the rest of the team. Say what you want about us but in Pogba, Ronaldo, Bruno, Sancho we do have match winner. If they click we can have a good run at the cup.
