Derby need to sell to even see the season out, if Everton paid off Derby to release Rooney and it ensured they have a chance at staying up I reckon he would go.

I would rather he see it through, he’s done a great job so far at that level, let him learn his trade before jumping too soon ala Lampard.

What’s his wife got to do with it?
I'd say it's fair to question the loyalty of a a man who has repeatedly and regularly cheated on his wife, someone said why would he leave Derby now? my opinion is if he has no loyalty to the one he chose to marry I dont see how he would have any to a club that he has no connection to and can't be much benefit to him.

Out of interest, as I haven't kept up with the details, are Derby banned from signing loan players? Or can they not afford the loan fees? You'd think they would get a few loanees in uf allowed..

His name will surely feature heavily, but like many, I want to see him stay and keep Derby up. That would be surely be worth some global manager of the year award.

His private life has nothing to do with football, it didn’t stop him being one of the best premier league players of all time and a genuine legend. The fact he decided to stay with Derby knowing they were going to be so severely punished says a lot about him ….not many would have done so.

Are you genuinely saying he has no connection to Everton??

Hope he does go to Everton, it’ll be a great stepping stone.

Also worth mentioning Rooney is extremely wealthy and has absolutely no need to work, he does it for the love of the game and very successfully.

I'd love to see him successfully manage a premier league club one day but slow and steady progress seems the better option at this stage. Otherwise, we'd have another Ole situation at Everton.

If Everton come calling then he’s 100% going.

He’s a Blue, it’s his childhood team, it’s the premier league, and it’s more money.

anyone suggestions he’ll “stay” because he’s invested at Derby are just not living in the real world

he’s invested because that’s his job, and it’s been nothing but a ball ache for him, it’s a crisis, not just because of their league position but because the EFL are actively trying to kick them out the football league…..but yeh, for some reason he’ll stay if Everton come calling  get real folks.

he’ll have formed a bond with Derby with all they’ve been through for sure, I believe he’s even voluntarily dipped his hands in his own pockets to help staff through lockdowns etc he’s fought for Derby but it can only go so far.

this is all assuming Everton were to come calling of course, it’s not happened yet.

No, I'm saying he has no connection to Derby, and his private life has a massive bearing on everything, if a person can repeatedly lie to and cheat on someone they profess to love, how can you trust that person in other regards, the fact he was one of the best players ever is irrelevant, so was giggs and he is a massive thundering twat. My whole point was someone saying he wouldn't leave Derby in the shit, my point was he has no loyalty to his wife, why the hell would he have any to a club he has no ties or connection to (derby)

It's defintely going to happen. This sort of BS is always happening to Derby. As soon as we have a manager doing well, he gets a better job.

Wouldn't it be more on brand for them to get Koemann out of his Barca contract?

If it's Benitez it will be interesting to see who takes the Belgium job.

With all the shit going on behind him at Derby, I can see why he'd be willing to move.

But taking on Everton, with the state they are in now, this early in his career could very well put a damper in what looks like it might be a promising career.

Why couldn't he do it to them? He's never shown much loyalty to his wife, I don't see him having much to a club that have no historic link to him.
Weird to bring his wife into the conversation, but I think he couldn’t leave until the end of the season because he knows how much it would hurt the fans to do so. They’re in with a chance of staying up thanks to him and without him they’d probably go down.

While his achievements at Derby have been great so far, it’s been a total free hit for him and the squad. I get that it’s a shit show there but the squad have been playing with no pressure due to the fact they were nailed on to go down. Now it’s a case of turning the positive momentum from that into a “go out and prove everyone wrong” stance instead.

He’s done great but how would he actually handle expectation?

I dont see why, its in the public domain and points to his character and trustworthyness (not sure if thats a word  ) My whole point was responding to someone who was saying he wouldnt jump ship on Derby, and mine is why not, he has no loyalty to anyone/thing else.

It's a no lose for him at Derby, he's undoubtably doing well under the circumstances but no one would blame him if he wasn't, would be silly to leave yet unless forced.

They were and then they were put under a transfer embargo again. It's a bit a of mess there at the moment.

From various reports there are a couple of parties interested in buying them (Mike Ashley being one) but Derby now have 2 impending court cases hanging over them from Wycombe and Middlesbrough, who are both claiming damages. No interested party is going to to take them over without a conclusion to the two cases.

Wycombe and Middlesbrough both want settlements, which Derby cannot afford to pay. If the court case drags out and Derby can't be taken over, they'll go out of business anyway. It's a mess.

I'm just saying I doubt there's a direct correlation between how a man treats his wife compared to how he treats his employer, Giggs would be a good example.

Think he should see this season out. If he keeps Derby up after everything, that would be a great achievement. If he goes to Everton now he runs the risk of not looking great as they have major problems. In the Summer, for sure, go. Right now? Better off at Derby.

Additionally, Everton are also better off with a more experienced manager as well, giving that job to someone with 1yrs experience is dangerous for the also.

Absolutely, but when talking about people we don't know it's not a bad indicator

If he's going to have a tumbling club on his CV, it should be Derby. I think he sticks out the full season personally.

He's effectively able to get relegated freely with no consequences. His team should be 10th/11th if factors out of his control didn't come into effect.

Everton are on Manager number 6 since Roberto Martinez and look as rotten as any other club behind the scenes. Why risk it so early in your career?

Has he been doing really good job at Derby County? Or it is just player manager hype
Think he's doing pretty well in the circumstances, based on results on paper. They'd be top half if it weren't for the points deduction, despite being in administration, transfer embargoed, lost a lot players and playing youth players and free signings on low wages. It looked likely they would do a Portsmouth and end up in League Two in two years even if they avoided liquidation, but hes just about on course to keep them up at the current rate.

Personally hope he stays at Derby - he’s got a job to finish! Can see him being another ‘lampard’ if he goes. Both leaving Derby for a club close to their heart and both doing it before they are ready. Needs more experience

besides if he goes I will miss seeing him drive to the training ground - it’s just down the road from me and Rooney always gives me lots of space when he overtakes me and I’m on my bike :D

For me, what's going on in Derby looks like a 'Carry On' movie script.

I think it's too early for Rooney and too risky for Everton. It could also be seen as 'sentimental', a danger which I think all clubs are starting to wake up to.

If Rooney stays with Derby and saves them from going down, it would be genuinely amaze-balls and would be worth turning into a movie. I've already got my popcorn out.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if he did go to Everton with how crazy and reactive football is at the moment.

Is there an Everton thread @SilentWitness ?

I can't find a more relevant thread

That too me reads almost like #4238 out, #4012 in. Did Frank do this?

Have the fans been polled?

I would absolutely love it if he stayed at Derby and kept them up, I find myself constantly looking for their results now and just praying that he gets it done. Although he's 8 points off safety with 27 games played, not impossible.

However I haven't actually seen Derby play just lookout for the results would anyone in here be able to give a bit of breakdown of how Wayne is setting them up?
