Well that's Chelsea fecked anyway!

Good move for me. Bring in squad limits as well and we're moving in the right direction.

I imagine we will see a lot more transfers with buy back clauses.

Great move for football. Nothing worse than seeing the likes of Chelsea and City stockpile youngsters and not giving them a chance.

Home grown u21 players are exempt. So I don't think it changes that much.

It changes as home grown over 21 players are loaned out, non home grown players are loaned out too.

For example Chelsea have these players who are 21 and above out on loan.

Can't believe Batshuayi is still a Chelsea player. Looked up a few more of those, some of them have just been on 5 or 6 consecutive loans and are now in their mid/late 20s. From Chelsea's perspective, what is the point?

"maximum of 6 players in on loan"? Who has more than 6 players in on loan?

"Players aged 21 and younger and club-trained players will be exempt from these limitations." - I guess it depends on what they decide is a "club trained player", Chelsea could still have a feckload in the loan army.

You currently have 22 apparently of which 9 are from your first team squad.

It all adds up to a very nice profit and the players wages are covered by the loan club. Those older players are probably worth quite a bit more loaned out every season than if they are just put on the market outright and if one of them really hits form it can mean huge profit. Chelsea were very smart to take advantage of that loophole while it existed. They will just sell on the cheap now with low buy backs/high sell on % and keeping first option but their loaning for profit gig is up more or less

Chelsea finished, won't even be able to start a Sunday league team.

John Terry to go Bankrupt selling NFTs

Thomas Tuchel selling sauerkraut sandwiches

You love to see it

Very good change this. The loan with "option to buy" was starting to become a shared norm for transfers.

City have 3-4 teams around the world, they can still do whatever they want. Recently they posted revenue higher than United (this is not an exaggeration, just Google it). They are pretty much untouchable.

Big clubs will just start bankrolling smaller clubs through different channels and giving them players for a few years. It’ll end up being circumvented in some way
More than likely I think there will just be a lot of selling with buyback clauses.

Those are players that were signed for the first team and weren't good enough and Chelsea have since been unable to sell them. They'll just be released when their contracts run out, or in the event they have a great loan, could be sold for a fee.

Chelsea only have 6 over 21 and non-homegrown on loan, they are already compliant.

They are always the first brought up even though Italian clubs have had 100+ out on loan before.

There are such huge caveats. Any player who has spent 3 years at any club within that national federation at some point between the ages of 15 and 21 is classed as homegrown, and therefore exempt, regardless of current age.
Add to that all players aged 21 and under and I’d be genuinely interested to see which teams are currently non compliant. I don’t think this will have any real effect

I mean for Chelsea until they clear the excess. I vote for a three point deduction per.
That sounds about right!

The small print is just astonishing in this. MEN seem to be saying it won’t apply to domestic loans until 2025, what’s the point?!

Chelsea don't have any excess according to these rules. Currently 21 players out on loan, 15 are either under 21 or homegrown, 6 are older and non-homegrown.

My guess is that no premiership clubs are currently non/compliant. But frankly even if Chelsea were they could easily let a few players from that list leave on a free when their contracts run down without affecting the team or the loan for profit system at all.
