I think the difference is, people leave WWE to potentially bigger things in terms of ring time, storyline, growth.

When someone leaves and joins WWE, historically they have one programme and then get buried for the most part.

Time will tell with Cody, the status of titles means only 2 are worth having, the rest are worthless now and Cody does want that World Title.

This’ll be fun.. looking at everyone who has gone from WWE > AEW and now AEW > WWE .. where does Cody rank in terms of ‘biggest signing’ ?

For me, third only behind Punk and Bryan. Bigger than Moxley moving IMO, purely just because of him being such a prominent face in the creation of AEW. For that alone, a lot would argue it’s the biggest by a long way.
It's been done to death in this thread, it's just Ekeke on one side, and Bwuk and cyberman on the other side, all wildly exaggerating to score points in favour of their preferred company.

It seemed the consensus apart from the sillyness was in agreement with you, behind Punk and Danielson, mainly for the reasoning - Cody left AEW because he wasn't offered the money he wanted in line with those 2.

Wish I was back into wrestling when the rock and Cena were having their matches at mania. To set the main event a full on year in advance is wild.

Historically, WWF used to have their main events mapped out at least a good 9 months or more in advance during Hulks run.

That's when they built long term storylines and had to work for their money.

Nowadays they just say, it's Wrestlemania and don't even announce matches until 2 mins before.

Was referring more to the fact it was actually announced (as opposed to just planned) on the raw after mania 27

I am not sure how long will this be sustainable for. Attitude era stars are getting old. In another 7 to 10 years, you can't expect Goldberg or the Rock or Austin to bail you out. The only reason people still have some interest in WWE is because it is WWE.

Yeah, for the period it was unique.

I mean what's funny was, he literally didn't turn up again until the next match aside from some taped promos

I think Cody will have a world title shot then in 6 months to 1 year he'll be in the same category as Seth and Owens in upper midcard and occasional top title challengers. Still ahead of the pack of Zayn, Ricochet, etc though. I suspect Riddle will be above him this time next year getting a singles push.

I think thats more interesting than where he would have been in AEW at that point where hes doing the Codyverse stuff and challenging for the TNT title he's already won 3 times now. So if you ignore all the stuff he said and going back on it, I think itll probably work out better for him.

I wonder how long he keeps the fans on his side as a babyface now that he isnt booking himself.

The rock was spotted in Dallas yesterday. His mother and wife were spotted in the audience. His mother is there every year, means nothing, his wife however....

Anybody surprised how good Taker was on the mic? I don't believe he ever showed that kinda mic chops even when he was more of himself as the American badass. He was funny, charming and damn near inspirational!

Didn't think Mania was worth staying up for so caught up today. While it wasn't the best show the stupid amount of filler and ads is what really vindicated it. Considering that apparently New Day got their match cut, and they couldn't find room for either the IC or US title, its absolutely pathetic. They really do their best to produce an unwatchable show. Anyway did anyone else think it didn't feel/look like Mania or even a PPV a times? Maybe its just the homogenised look of the ring with the LED boards and especially the way they shoot the matches where you barely get the crowd or the scale of it but so much just felt like a Raw or Smackdown. Found it especially noticeable during Ronda/Charlotte and the interview part of KO/Austin. Probably doesn't help that rather than treat it as two PPVs it just felt like the first half of one.

Anyway parts of the show were great, Becky/Bianca was match of the night and really felt like a proper big WM match and is exactly what you want on a show like this. Should have gone before the Austin/KO instead of Ronda/Charlotte which was bad. Was that Ronda's second ever loss? If so of course Charlotte gets it and since when does she beat people with a big boot? While Ronda vs Becky was the obvious way to go kinda glad they didn't go that route because Becky got a much better match than she would have had with her. Knew about Cody showing up but it was pretty cool seeing him come out with his kingdom theme. Was pretty badass, then you remember his neck tattoo and it just kills it. Good match though, even if I have no idea what Seth is doing character wise. Build looked like it didn't make sense, why not have him brag there's no one who can give him a challenge and so they have to find him someone rather than him moaning about being left off WM? Other than that, Drew seems so boring, Corbin is weird, Miz probably worked his arse off in a celebrity thing but I skipped it. Only other thing to moan about is why the feck is Riddick Moss going over Balor who is the US champ in the battle royale. I know it's completely meaningless given they can't even be arsed to put in on the actual show anymore but you can't even give him that?

Looking forward to AJ/Edge and the main event tomorrow, dunno if I'll bother with the rest of the show.

That's the by-product of there deal with Peacock though... Free version has ads, and if you're not on the free version, they'll fill it with video packages.

As the breaks weren't in the matches themselves I didn't really mind it... Meant I could go do stuff between matches.

Fair enough. Doesn't excuse not finding places for you midcard titles but at least explains seeing random vignettes for Sacha Banks.

There is no reason at all for this card to be split over 2 nights, but i thought they did ok last night. good matches for the most part. Austin/KO was good fun and a nice finish. I'll try and stay up tonight but chances are i'll have to catch up tomorrow.

It was awesome, funny, genuine, heart warming and yeah inspirational.
Night one was better than i expected, but the director needs shooting. The switching of camera angles in every damn punch in the austin match was ridiculous. Was it that buck toothed dipshit Kevin Dunn?

Cool.. Genuinely happy for him that he got the reception he deserved. The booing got obnoxious at times towards the end of his AEW run.

That said what's with the "important to get that win" nonsense? Starting to sound like Bet Hart.
Nowhere near as galling for me as the "best wrestler in the world and I dont think theres a close 2nd" line.

If you had WWE and AEW fans (not to mention those that watch other companies like NJPW) list their 10 best wrestlers in the world before last night, nobody would have put Cody Rhodes on there

I thought he had a good match with Seth (Seth impressing more) though maybe not quite as good as his last in AEW with Sammy, but... Yeah. I have sympathy for what happened with the AEW fans as I said when it was happening but I couldnt believe it when he said that line with a straight face

Watch the BT Interview, he tries to explain why he is the best in the world

It's wrestling. You're supposed to be saying stuff like that.

"Ah, I dunno. I'm decent, ya know? Solid 7/10." Wouldn't really get people talking.
