Losing any interest with this version of Manchester United. We will be excited to see the new manager and then will have another false dawn. Rinse & Repeat. The owner needs to go and so should more than half of the stupid bunch of players we have.

Have you ever wanted a season to end so much?

Season over already and there are many players in the squad who I never want to see play for United again.

Would love them to sell at least 15 players this summer and build around Varane, Fernandes and Sancho with young talented players desperate to play for us.

Thread title should just be changed to 'How depressed are United making you'?

I'm quite optimistic to see a decent manager here next season. This season makes me laugh out of frustration more times than it makes me depressed. We are just so bad at the most basic stuff apart from a few players. I mean, how rubbish are we in front of goal? Can't wait for next season.
The only way is up and all that.

Need to start from scratch.3 defenders,2 midfielders and a striker at the minimum. We need a good clear out. This squad is a expensive failure.

I've never in my life had less enjoyment following United than this season. In other bad seasons, we were at least chasing a trophy or in the hunt for 4th. Plus there was hope that with a new manager and/or signings we could turn it around. We've gone through so many managers and signed so many seemingly quality players and somehow are getting worse.

The football we play is abysmal. All the players are underperforming. The inspired stale/static style of play has not improved in almost a decade through 5 managers and dozens of players. I'm just completely bored, depressed and barely interested in this team and in football in general. Even if my preferred choice ETH comes in, I have very little hope that things will improve.

Its not depression that United should be worried about. Its fans becoming indifferent that should be concerning.

Exactly. I don't feel sad because of a shit result anymore. I just don't give a shit about games in general. Every time I watch a United game, I feel this is time wasted and I should go and do something more useful, because even as an entertainment or killing time method, it's not worth it anymore with what's presented on the pitch.

When I was younger a loss or even draw would ruin my weekend…a combination of getting older and not really liking the modern day footballer just makes me apathetic as soon as the game is finished.

I don't think I've ever been this emotionally detached to the club as I am now. It was pretty close in the final few days of Mou's tenure - and that was a lot because of Mou's treatment of the players, but right now, the general fecklessness given by the club, the players, the manager and the coaching staff is on another level.

The club should start planning for the squad next season. If the club knows players like Lingard, Pogba etc. will be leaving as they aren't signing a contract, no point in playing them - especially not Lingard as he's just a squad player. Integrate the youngsters the club thinks will be a part of the squad next season - surely, the club isnt buying 6 odd players in the summer.

And for the love of God, I hope RR actually plays the way he said that he would - If the players aren't fit, it would have resulted in muscular injuries. Atleast take them to the limit as there is nothing to lose from here on.

Yesterday I wasn't planning on watching the game but then decided to do it. Couldn't watch beyond 30 mins. It was horrible. I realized that I watch football for entertainment and not for being a top red.

I think apathy is surely the overriding emotion for most fans. Fundamentally, this group of players aren't particularly likable, and when they play with this nonchalance week in, week out, it's hard as a fan to be emotionally invested. I obviously love the club and I've supported them all my life and will continue to, but this current incarnation of United leave me very cold.

When you watch a group of players who seemingly don't give a toss, then it's hard to "rally behind the boys" as is often the refrain from some. The issue is, I obviously want them to win, but if they don't, then i really don't care. It's simply just a shrug of the shoulders now.

What is making me depressed, not that I really am, is the failure by the club leadership to resolve the key problems within the structure.
But I am hopeful that RR will be able to get to the bottom of the multitude of problems. And more importantly come up with solutions.

Looking at the league table and 7th position is really depressing. Probably what we deserve too!

More worried than depressed.

A top manager can mask some of the problems but I doubt the club can support someone like Ten Hag and will probably undermine him and try to do what they've always done.

I may have but since some of the laughable performances and results, it just showed how bad the club is run in football terms. And if that us not addressed in the next few months then I will switch off again like this season.

Depressed is too strong and disrespectful to true sufferers even though many studies show win and loss affect supporters short term mental state.

Pretty much the many owner related issues are reducing the amount of joy derived from following the club over time for me. More and more we are following a business and less so a club as they are strip mining the brand legacy dry.

Our owners are pretty clueless when it comes to the game part of the club and that's the tough bit for me. They aimlessly try to buy their way out with constant quickfixes and expensive failed patches. I wouldn't mind tough times and no titles if we were on a clear trajectory. But I have a hard time seeing us this clueless.

While I see your point, is there any reason why next season will be any better? These players will get better or worse. Over the past few years, it appears they're all getting worse.

I can forgive being shit

I can’t forgive a lack of heart or commitment. Which too many players are showing. Shaw and Pogba to name just a couple.

So if it’s a case of having 3 or 4 top class players and building a team around them with prospects then at least we will get some entertainment

Theres every chance we'll struggle to finish in the top 6, let alone top 4. We still have to play Liverpool and Arsenal and I really cant see us beating either. This season could end with us in our lowest position in the top flight since 1989/90 when we finished 13th, but won the FA Cup. If we're lucky we might finish 7th as we did in 2013/14. Thats extremely depressing.

The years of Woodward ruling the club with no idea about the game has finally punished the team 8not it’s current sleep walking state. Being rewarded for financially rewarding absent owners with his unintelligent vision of adult Disneyland and social media players has spiralled into what we are subject to.

can’t see 10 plus years of abject spending and hiring being turned around in short time, the best hope will be for the Glazers deciding to cash 8n, and an ownership group with some idea taking over. From the renovation of Old Trafford to renovation of the team and it’s structures. Big ask, but so necessary. It’s what you,get for a merchant banker living in London with shopping Centre owners happy to receive dividends with zero knowledge of football. Not going to be easy guys, it’s close to a nightmare.

Around 8th place is what we deserve anyway. Almost the entire squad needs to be gutted from top to bottom. Whatever it takes to tear the whole thing down and start again is fine for me.

I think we are beyond depressed state. It's more of acceptance state where bad result is expected even before the match starts.
Used to feel depressed earlier but not anymore. As long as Glazers are there, I do not think we'll do well.

No, I'm just numb to it now. I'm used to watching Ireland anyway and honestly right now even they're playing better football than United.

I agree; there was a time when defeat was almost unthinkable, when Old Trafford was a fortress and most teams were happy to come away without being humiliated. Now, even home wins come as a pleasant surprize and mediocre is the norm.

When i was a kid in the 1990s, i always look up to manutd squad, to me they represented never say never attitude, try your best and be the best against all odds. Style, aggression and devil may care flair. I watched them and tried to relate it with my personality with lifestyle. [Yea yea, i was only a kid that lacked role models, but SAF was a great one at it for me]
Nowadays, watching this squad isn't just depressing, its just down right sad but can't help it. For example, i knew its gonna be a long game against leifeckingchester at home before hand. But i did put an alarm at 1.30am woke up and tortured myself till 4am and hated myself getting up for work at 7am.

Will i do that again? Yep.
Will i bitch and moan about it. Also Yep.

Just watching the Rooney documentary on Prime. Its sad looking back and wondering whether and when the glory days will return and when we will see players give 110% in every single game no matter what. A distant memory and yes very depressing.

No. It would serve as well to be grateful for the gifts of life that we have been given. It's entirely appropriate to moan about United's decline, but there is so much else to live for and cherish.

If anyone is feeling down about the men's side, then they are more than free to watch the women's side, they play with heart and passion, and a will to win.

Ive done so and youre right. If the men showed half as much as heart and passion they might actually have achieved something.

Its not depression I feel but certainly frustration. When a club as wealthy and with a history like United has cannot get it right then frustration is the outcome.

The owners are rightly blamed, but its not all them, yes they do take a profit, of course they do, its their business. They do invest, but somehow manage to get it wrong, probably because as LvG said recently they are pursuing commercial goals, rather than football 'goals'.

For years our training regime has been questionable, general energy levels, speed of movement and thought is poor, simple football intelligence at times seems to be lacking, (keep making the same mistakes) on-field ability to manage the game is poor, set piece mayhem often seems prevalent.

Players personal confidence is virtually non-existent, understanding of each others movements is poor, e.g. wanting the ball to feet all the time, is becoming a sort of unwelcome mantra, when our so called 'game-changer players get the ball and look up ( if they do)they are lucky if one United player may try to make a move, but no one else, not even a feint ! The opposition relax because they know there is only one option open and they have it covered, so the ball moves sideways in front of their defence and they remain unchallenged... we must be one of the easiest teams to play against right now!

Not depression its frustration, its all frustrating to watch, but I still do!

It's not depression for me (good job as I've got enough grief outside football without more to add to the pile).

I used to get "depressed" (not literally) when good United teams didn't win. A better description would be miserable, grumpy, annoyed, frustrated, etc then I'd get to the next game and be fine... generally as the team would up their game and take the previous draw/loss as an insult and want to show a reaction

This lot... this shower of shite, this group of overpaid, underworked (social media doesn't count as work), overrated, lazy w@nkers make me angry.

I've seen far less talented United squads in my time, that gave everything on the pitch (which is what fans expect as a minimum?) and if they lost, it wasn't for lack of effort, it was ability/opponents/bad luck.

This lot are shite... mentally look weak, don't learn from mistakes, don't do basics. Majority can leave for all I care.

United aren't actively making me depressed, but the absence of the feeling that United have given me through the years is being felt.

Do I find the results of the United season depress me. Yes, within the context of what I would like to see. But after a few hours I get on with my life and go again next match day. If a sports team’s performance is negatively impacting on your day to day life, then you need to give up following sports, because when it comes down to it, it’s just a game of sport. Life is a lot more than that and other things should always take preference unless you actually play or work for the team.

It is brutal, I have gone to more 'numb' than depressed these days. I just want youth, new manager announcement, and a bunch of Ronaldo goals. (and Pogba to join PSG)
