Peaky Blinders has been shit this season though - far worse than current season of Top Boy which is the weakest of the 4.

The ending of season 4 ruined what was a decent but not brilliant season.
I’ve not watched this season of Peaky as I was waiting for it to finish, but it is a far better show than Top Boy for me.

Think the show is terrible l, personally. I mean, for a young-ish black guy from Hackney myself, it’s always been a show that I feel obligated to watch ‘for the culture’ so to speak, loads of the locations in it are around my area, people are familiar etc. But as a TV snob with what I consider a very high quality TV diet, it’s not an objectively good show to me. Littered with terrible acting and dialogue in the main. If I took away the familiar connection and just compared it objectively to a show like say, Peaky Blinders - another British crime/gang drama - it is a billion miles away.

That’s my take anyway.
Also I need a good playlist

Ok I'm midway through Season 1. Great stuff so far. When does the show start to get shit?
I've only seen 3 seasons and I really enjoyed all. I think there are only 3 so far so you should be good to carry on to completion without a quality decline.

There’s 4. And @Rozay I agree that Peaky at its best edges it but Top Boy is still a fantastic show. You need to watch the last season of Peaky though because it’s worse than the last season of Game of Thrones - unwatchable shite.

It doesn't really. Only about 4 episodes into this season though, so can't comment on the current season yet.

I'm not a huge fan of either really, both are very much style over substance I think.

Good season. Not the best one no, but good.

Was expecting someone big to die, or a few of them but guessing they wanted most characters for another season. Thought it would be Jaq. Jamie kind of came out of nowhere in the end (literally). I’m guessing setting up another war between Dushane and Sully, considering Dushane had just told him Jamie is his retirement fund.

I won't lie - I enjoyed most of it but there were too many needless storylines making some things just illogical

There's always things happening but it always is under the same umbrella each season of

Dushane vs Sully, then they make up and then they hate each other again

I do think Dushane was a bit naive at times. Why would he think Jamie wouldn't kill him? Why didn't he ask for proof on Kit's death? Why would he let Lizzie even live? Surely he is not stupid to think leaving Lizzie, Jamie and her husband (after he cost him millions) alive is a good thing?

Ultimately Sully probably saved Dushane's life cos no way Jamie wouldn't want to kill Dushane at some point

I felt Curtis (or the actor at least) was great. But completely pointless and not needed

Just finished it now....

Can anybody remind me why Sully had been with Jamie, leading to that ending?

I should have looked this up a few episodes ago but I can't remember exactly what happened now.
Jamie and Sully/Dushane were at war in the first season. Sully also correctly suspected Jamie was gonna take the Spanish contact for himself, so didn't trust him. The killing seemed out of place by that point though, straight after Dushane had told Sully his plans, so possibly more to it that we find out next season. I suspect the whole point of it was the cliffhanger of why.

Makes sense, I thought I'd just forgot something obvious.

Just finished this season. Overall really enjoyed it but did think it was a notch down on previous seasons and the various storylines became a bit messy/silly at times.

On Sully’s motives for killing Jamie, as well as the history I also think the cafe/balcony seems implied he wanted Jamie to say no to killing Kit out of loyalty to his friend rather than the business. Kit and Jamie were brothers like Dushane and Sully used to be, so Jamie ultimately turning on Kit and Dushane seemingly only caring about the money seemed to spark fresh resentment in Sully and re-open their rift

I agree with you.
I think it was telling that before sully walked away from the balcony the camera switched inside and out of earshot for a few seconds. I think Sully may have killed Jamie with the agreement of Dushane

Ah ok, I hadn’t suspected that and instead saw it as Sully stepping away from Dushane again. I think part of Sully was hoping Jamie would refuse to kill Kit, and that’s why when Dushane said he’d done and “proved he was loyal” Sully replied with “yeah, to you” (as well as Sully knowing Jamie isn’t loyal to him anyway ). I think Sully saw Jamie/Kit’s friendship as similar to his own with Dushane, so Jamie doing what was best for him at the expense of his friend, and Dushane not really caring about Jamie’s past with Sully, set him off again was how I read it. After Dushane’s retirement fund comment I’d be surprised if he’d then decided he wanted Jamie killed

The Scouse actor was amazing. Phenomenal acting, and my buttcheeks clenched up every time he spoke. He carried a sense of dread and terror with him, and the tension was palpable in every scene he was in.

Vee, on the other hand was annoying and pretty pointless, as was the other fella, Speaks or whatever he was called.

"Yeah, I was disappointed we didn't get a satisfying torture/kill scene with Vee."

And thank goodness for subtitles, no way could I have understood a damn thing.

Even more impressive is that the actor isn’t actually scouse.

Just finished watch season 4 fam, still. Bredrin was mad blud.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, a bit disappointed I couldn't find decent enough recaps on youtube for it, so went into it a bit hazy on what happened in season 1, and had to stop when the Lauryn storyline came up to try figure out what happened with her again.

The ending was also very crazy, expected someone big to die, and they didn't disappoint, kinda felt it was going the way of Jamie so wasn't so much of a surprise, but in front of the brothers was a shocker

Sets up things nicely for season 4. That scouser that isn't a scouser. Just wow, great performance from him really, I enjoyed that bit a lot, and didn't feel pointless.
It was Dushane getting shite from all sides and not letting up, so that added more intensity to the whole story. So it was that, he's mum dying, Ruben in prison, Jamie trying to take his crown, Spain and the big shipment problems, Sully fractured relationship, he's own relationship with Shelley...it was just madness all around. Still.

Just started watching this on Netflix and really enjoying it so far. Messed up a bit as it shows as Season 1 on Netflix but is actually season 3.

Going to watch 3 and 4 then watch 1 and 2 as a prequel

I saw it as Dushane wanting a retirement plan to step away from the game, whilst Sully wanted to stay involved as that was all he knew and without it he'd be lost (as seen by his interactions with his ex). By taking Jamie out he selfishly forces Dushane to stay involved with him.

In other words, the writer ripped off the Stringer Bell/Avon Barksdale relationship all the way down to the balcony scene, and they will probably end s5 the same way too.
