Brazil is Peps dream job.

Would do wonders with them imo
International football is another beast entirely, you just can't replace a player you don't want with an endless string of replacements.
Also isn't Brazilian midfield kinda shit right now?
Could end terribly, especially with how passionate Brazilians can be.

I've already convinced myself that this is the final and with Villarreal winning tonight I think it's now certain that our two biggest rivals will play in the final. So who's the best worst option here for to win? Going to be a perfect end to one of the worst season's I've ever experienced as a United fan to even watch this.

And yes I hope this is a massive fecking jinx
Dream scenario would be City to lose the final to Villarreal.

But if I was to think neutrally then Liverpool Vs Real is a proper CL final. Has the history and tradition etc

I was thinking this earlier, but on an even bigger scale..

If we assume that the worst is going to happen and those 2 are going to win all the trophies on offer to English clubs between them this year.. Then which way would you split it?

I think i'd go for :

City - PL/CL
Liverpool - League Cup/FA Cup

That way, neither win the treble/quadruple and Liverpool stay behind us with league titles and don't move 4 ahead in terms of European Cups.

I hate football.

People underestimating Madrid.
They have a good mix of experience and youth, and a manager who knows this competition.

I know we are favourites for our tie, but Villarreal have pretty much given up on the league and are resting 7-8 players for this competition.
Imagine them going ultra defensive and scoring at their home.

City would match your 2008 season though and would have won 4 out of the last 5 PL titles. 17-22 City team needs to be placed alongside or above your 07-09 United side in that case which is one of the greatest sides of all time, not just PL but in general. As long as City's titles remain domestically, they will never have that shout.

Feel like from what I've read on here, most definitely don't want Liverpool to get to 20 and definitely don't want City to win a first CL, so Liverpool CL and City PL is the best option for United fans.

I think I have a slight preference for the league for Liverpool - getting to 7 CLs would be unreal and being European champs is awesome, but matching your 20 just to see the meltdown would be quite something. A 4-1 City PL advantage would also really cement their domestic dominance, whereas we can speak of a true battle in the league if it goes to 3-2. So yeah, gimme the league in that case. If you could guarantee me one of the PL or CL though I'd give up the other two trophies right now; probably not a winner's mentality but would be heartbreaking to only win the League Cup this season after being in this great of a position one month before the season ends.

Yeah, fair points. I just don't feel the same level of rivalry against City though, I guess thats due to there being no City fans at school or in my friendship groups growing up.

I'm absolutely convinced you'll win all 4 by the way, which will be fecking horrific.

In terms of the meltdown if/when you get to 20, you're absolutely right, it'd be horrible and i'd be jealous AF. The worst thing about it all is how our club has been allowed to fall to bits. Imagine on the day that United won 20, telling somebody that Liverpool would get to 20 before United got to 21. You'd have been laughed out of the place. As I say, I hate football.

Feel sick writing this but starting to think Liverpool winning champs league and city the league prob the best thing to stomach going how the season is going.

When Klopp arrived I bet against someone on here that we would finish in the top 4 twice under his reign and he wouldn't even believe that

And I know it's a terrifying thought for you guys but we definitely won't win all four. Teams have been in this position before but there's a reason no one has done it yet. Even a treble has only happened once in Premier League history.

We played Napoli and PSG in the 2018/19 group stage. Then we played Bayern and Barcelona on the way to the final.

We've been more fortunate in the knockout rounds for this season but our group was a trickier one.
You beat Porto, a dying Barca side and a very Spursy Spurs to win it in 2019. This year you had a tricky group on paper but in reality it was shite, a nothing Inter side, then benfica and villereal to get to the final. It’s hardly the path United had in 99 now is it

I’m probably the only one who doesn‘t care who wins what. I know Liverpool are our rivals, but if they win it, they deserve it. At least with City, you can point to their financial doping and shady owners. Besides, they have been very entertaining when they go against each other recently.

Of course, if Real or Villareal win it, that would be a better outcome. But that’s all it is. This season was bad because United were shit, not because other teams won trophies for me. Try to focus on yourself and be better, rather than hoping others fail.

Does it really matter if Liverpool have 6 or 7 CLs for a United fan? At least they're a historic giant like us, not a state-funded irrelevant club. The only thing I care about is us getting our 4th.

In Northern Ireland, there's loads of Liverpool fans and they're arrogant, obnoxious, unbearable bleepers. (there's the odd decent one). I wouldn't want them to win the coin toss

The irony of hoping against hope that Villareal can eliminate Liverpool after the trauma they caused us in the Europa League Final.

Itll be City vs Liverpool no doubt. Absolute worst case scenario.

All spanish final would be the dream scenario imo
Nah. In all three tinted shades I can see it’s the worse outcome. As a United fan, best is for City to flop in the final vs Villarreal, as a neutral Real Vs Liverpool is the most authentic and would probably be the most entertaining, as a premier league fan then an all English final but obviously the two teams involved makes that third option impossible to like unless if I think more long term and how a better Premier league forces us to spend and improve

I've recently realised that I don't actually care if Liverpool win another CL. They have so many already. I hope Real Madrid win it all now, but in the event of a City v Liverpool final, I would probably prefer to keep City at 0 European cups.
Agree. Maybe Abu Dhabi gets tired of never winning the big trophy and then sell the club. If Villareal doesn't pull the craziest surprise of all time, then Madrid would be the best thing for us. Another CL in their trophy room is almost boring at this point.

I really don't think it's out of the question that Villareal can do it, crazy as that sounds. This is all they care about now. Liverpool and City have both got a lot on their plate. Madrid less so, but surely their skin of the teeth antics have to stop working at some point?

In terms of what is bad for Man United fans, it's surely in the following order (worst to first):

Liverpool
City
Madrid
Villareal

Called it months ago. I've given up personally caring which is why I started this thread

Don't think I've ever experienced a worst time to be a United fan, jesus christ we need to get out house in order and feck this bullshit of needing 4-5 years to challenge. The club needs to put a stop to this and compete with both clubs

Whichever don’t win the PL. Ideally Liverpool to win but if Liverpool are in for a quadruple, 1000% City.

There’s no preferable outcome. The one thing I don’t want to see is Liverpool winning the quadruple.

It's bad enough for a fan of any team watching their rival team clean up.

Surely it's unprecedented having to watch your TWO biggest rivals fighting it out to clean up.
