79 minutes, 43 seconds into the Brighton match, came my lowest Manchester United moment of the season. I know there is still a game to go before the season closes out, but surely this season can’t get any lower than hearing Alan Smith on co-commentary say these words:

“The Brighton players are taking mercy on United though... [Brighton are not] going forward with quite the same amount of intent”

In a season filled with countless lows, Alan Smith’s words were the biggest dose of reality for me of where we are currently at as a club.
We are a shambles.

Can this season get any worse with just one more game to go?

What has been your moment from this season when you were served with the biggest dose of reality of the state that our beloved Manchester United is in?

Saw a Brighton pal saying it could have been 5 or 6 and yes it could. But for all the moaning we did have 15 shots ourselves to their 17, so not unreasonable to think a few of those could have crept in.

However, obviously well beaten, and thank goodness only one more game more under the German Moyes.

We are the new Arsenal, this is in us now. Ten Hag can get us playing good football but this squad is guaranteed to have many games like this next season. If this squad isn't gutted then its another wasted 12 months. We aren't going to challenge for the league so we will be in the exact same top 4 position we have been in for most of this season and look at how we reacted.

Not for me, we know Liverpool have been better for a while. The 5-0 was predictable, Brighton toyed with us and properly refused to score their 5th goal. Worst game of the season for me
Not for me, being humiliated against your nemesis is just something else, you at least expect the players to put some effort in.
Pool never capitulated like that when they were shit and we were the best team in Europe.

4-0 is embarrassing for any team. But Brighton have not only picked up form, but have a clear, progressive style of play and a very talented coach in Potter. The scoreline may be a shock to some, but the overall result should not be.

The 4-1 to Watford is a far lower point than this one. Shit team with shit players that were relegated without a fight.

But we knew our team was full of cowards before that game, we knew Liverpool were much better. Did you really expect something different ? I invite you to read back the score predictions at the time. Most went for an easy Liverpool win

It’s the managements fault when the players don’t run. The player requirement has been atrocious. I recall Simon Stone calling it scatter gun approach a while back and this season has been the result of the club being mismanaged for seasons on end.

Honestly I didn't know they were that much of a weaklings the lot of them so it came as a bit of a shock to me, that game irreversibly changed my opinion about that lot so I can understand why you might have a different opinion.
In fact I cautiously hoped we could pull something out of that game, oh how wrong I was.

Might as well forget this shower of shit even existed.
Maybe we could just wipe out the 21/22 season of our official recordings.

AT least that was a late capitulation and red card giving false weight to the scoreline.

This was done and out of sight very early in the 2nd half.
Definitely. It’s actually annoying that it’s bought up without any context so often.

Good luck with that. Our board will stifle him from doing radical changes, he will only be allowed to get 3 players max and make use of same dross next season.

When watching the game,। was thinking about the money being spent vs the quality of players on the pitch. Horrible mismanagement of funds.

Should we laugh or sigh when there's a discussion about which of our many drubbings this season was the worst?

There was the 4-1 thumping away to Watford, followed by the 0-0 bore draw at home. 1-1 at Burnley. A 1-1 draw at home to Everton, proceeded by a 1-0 loss at Goodison. As an individual moment, or moments though, it would probably be the feeling of trepidation everytime Norwich surged forward against us at Old Trafford. Crosses flashing across our 6 yard box on quite a few occasions. Let alone the goals they scored. Sobering.

Imagine paying £60 for a shirt to be laughed at, these players have a lot to answer for really.

Unless they're trying to help us really by getting the Glazers to sell up...

When both City & Liverpool actually showed us mercy and took pity on us at OT, both teams could've embarrassed us massively. That was when I started checking out.

Soon as the Greenwood news came to light, that was it for me.

Well, not to defend it, but at Watford we had Maguire sent off in the 70th minute and they scored twice in the 90th.

At Brighton they finished their scoring in the 60th minute and we had 11 players throughout.

Nah pool 5_0 was worse , that takes some beating.

This season has been so terrible that we can have a full on discussion on which loss was the worst and they all have reasonable points for and against them with no wrong answer

Alan Smith spoke with hyperbole. Bringing on Maguire helped sure up the defence and Brighton, like any team, were conserving energy knowing they'd already won.

I mean we're really crap and yesterday's game was tragic but there's no need to invent drama - the performance up until the 70th minute spoke for itself.

There was a period in the 2nd half where you could clearly see Welbeck looking bemused at the state of this current United side.

Brighton have been outplaying us for years, just look at the stats from when we beat them 3-2 with that penalty in the 10th minute of added time. This is basically them being clinical and us not being arsed, we amazingly played better yesterday which kind of says a lot about how long the rot has been creeping in.

2-3 Win.

Possession: 53%/47%
Shots: 18/7 (includes 5 hitting the woodwork for them, a PL record)
Shots on Target:5/3
Corners:7/1
Fouls:18/16

VS

0-4 Loss

Possession:42%/58%
Shots:17/15
Shots on Target:6/5
Corners:7/6
Fouls: 13/9

This is why a complete change in how we play is needed, we aren’t in a short term rut we’re regularly being outplayed by mid-table sides season in, season out who have committed to playing progressive football. We’ve masked it for years with big money signings but it’s not sustainable.

Downed tools again
After thumping Brentford 3-0? Come on mate, now you're spouting nonsense. They were set up tactically to fail by the "breath of fresh air" Rangnick. And despite their bad performances throughout most of the season, and for sure, some players have downed tools, consistently it's been bad tactics, bad structure, bad coaching that has also let them down from Ole to the "Godfather of Gegenpressing." We should not be getting dominated by the likes of Brighton, Wolves. Norwich and Young Boys.

Ed Woodward has left the club in a proper mess.

It angers me that none of the hate from the fans will ever be directed at him.
