Murtough is one of the most experienced people around.
Not really, not at this level. He was at Everton with Moyes I believe.

For all his experience its Ralf that's having to hold his hand through the club rebuild.

It does seem like someone's finally getting the message that hitting icebergs isn't a great idea.
Indeed.
I'll believe it when I see it. All hot air right now coming out of the club
Indeed also. Binning off useless people is actually happening though, unless the stuff about Lawlor, Bout and Judge (and Woodward, for that matter) is an outright lie. So it's a bit more than just hot air.

By the way. The ones moaning about Fletcher not being experienced. How do you get experience. Are you born with it. Surely you work at the job to get more experience with someone like Murtough. There are plenty saying Murtough was one of the jobs for the boys. He was brought in from outside wasn't he? It is Arnold along with Woodward and Judge who were college mates wasn't it? People are so angry with what is happening on the field it is clouding their perspective about other things. Woodward and Judge have gone. Arnold seems to be a more ruthless type and wants things run more efficiently. What is wrong with that? The fact they have realised at long last that the scouting was useless and the people making decision on signings were also useless is also a good sign.

For the resources that have gone in it’s been a decade of colossal failure. There absolutely should be consequences and a lot of key people seem to be off. However, I am very worried this is being done 2 weeks before the season ends ahead of a mammoth transfer window. It does seem to be totally chaotic at the moment. Hopefully that isn’t the case.
Give it some benefits of doubt. With the signing of ETH earlier than we expected i think they honestly do more behind the screen.

Off course it's unethical to say all this during 3/4 of the season. Not that it serves anything if proper restructuring is underway other than to cater for the fans.

I'm not banking on what if but from what I've seen that has been done : sacking judge, hiring ETH, not extending pogba and rashford at least for now, Ralph coming out with no hold bare statement etc

Our social media is clearly run by people who are a few sandwiches short of a picnic, but then so are their target audience by and large.

Just need to stop the player-centric focus where the entire department is bent around maximising PR strategy for individuals. That approach is why we now could field an entire eleven of players who think their brands are more important than the club they play for.

Yeah, and "some staff too big for their boots" reeks of some awful upper management blaming lower downs for their feckups so reasoning to get rid of them.
Er, the Awful Upper Management was Ed Woodward, who by the looks of it has already left.

If some of the lower downs that were appointed by Woodward are useless, they need moving on. They will receive handsome payoffs; there's no reason to feel too sorry for them.

Can we turn our twitter into one of those accounts where a big company pretends to be a real person like Wendys?

I'd love us to #relatable

You do realize that Rangnick has never worked for a club comparable to United? If that's your point than Rangnick is even more inexperienced, at least Murtough for a club like United since he has been the one leading the restructuring of our other departments.

And what are you talking about when you state that Rangnick has to hold his hands, where does that come from?

While we're at it, can we also put it in players contract or at least as a gentleman agreement that if they don't like something about the club they (or their agent) need to talk to Murtough or any other person with power first before complaining about it on social media? let's avoid another Lingard or Pogba situation. Those paint the club as a bigger joke than it already is. But the worst part is other players might look at them and think "okay I'm not going to play there" even know they only know half the truth.
You don't need an agreement if you sign and develop players with emotional maturity, instead of the developmentally-arrested adult babies we seem to specialise in.

Or maybe Murtough through his previous roles at Everton and the Premier League is doing what he thinks is correct having been around the failing previous system.

Ralf may be making suggestions, but there is nothing to support him making these calls. He was actually brought in by Murtough which means, even if Ralf is doing anything at all it’s at Murtough’s request.

And beyond that which one of these clubs is comparable to United? Hoffenheim, Schalke, Leipzig, Hannover or Lokomotiv Moscow?

If you went on social media moaning about your employer you would get your marching orders or at least a serious reprimand. Footballers seem to get away with it because rather than an employee they are seen as an asset.

At what other club as big as ours has a DoF hiring an outside consultant to advise him on decisions going forward?

Yeah Ralf has taken a big step up in terms of the size of club absolutely, proven record though with rebuilding clubs, albeit smaller ones and tbh, I'm not even fully sold on RR either.

Not entirely sure what Murtagh brings to the table other than some experience at mid table clubs and not really having anything to say is a success? In fact he's been at United since 2013, essentially when this circus all started as head of football development... what exactly has he developed at the club in that time?

We've not created / developed a single world class talent in well over a decade, most of which is under his role up to his recent DoF one.

You get experience by working yourself up the ladder and proving you have what it takes. Jobs such as Fletcher's are rewarded to those who have done all of that and can put their experience to work. This is not an entry level job. Instead, Fletcher was a footballer one year, the next he coached the kids one year and the next he was technical director. A job usually rewarded to people with the highest expertise. It's like appointing a fresh out of college kid to be your senior developer. Textbook Jobs for the Boys FC.

Arnold was Woodward's protege for more than a decade. You will forgive me for not holding my breath.

I'll believe it when I see it. Sounds like the typical spin we're used to after a humiliating defeat.
Yeah, yeah, we've been down that road before. Get absolutely destroyed and embarrassed - start "restructuring" - actually do nothing - nothing changes. Repeat next season.

The social media of this club has been atrocious. It feels like it exists in an entirely separate reality and as a separate entity than the rest of the club.

This type of thought process irks me beyond belief. We clamour and bitch and moan for the football to be left to football people, wholesale changes. Then when someone does want it to be done that way and is making quick and ruthless decisions, (Arnold/Murtough) you don’t want to or refuse to believe it. Fecking unbelievable.

That’s some inception magic
The restructuring came into life last year. A year later, it is now ready for its big restructuring pants. Soon, it will learn how to walk, talk, read, etc. until it dies with the firing of Murtough. Then, a new restructuring will again see the light of the day, this time with Daddy Fletcher. It’s the cycle of shite. And it moves us all, through despair and hope. Mostly through despair.

Maybe being Woodward's protege has taught him exactly how not to run a football club.

Basically things are changing, perhaps for the better.

My take on it - Let's just wait and see, rather than having these painful circular arguments about whether Fletcher, Murtough and Arnold are fit for purpose. We just don't know yet and who wouldn't prefer to live with cautious optimism rather than total debilitating pessimism.

The only thing I can say about the Woodward/Arnold stuff is he has been able to see what's gone on for over 10 years and clearly has a great understanding of what not to do, which is why so far everything that's being reported on is seemingly the opposite of the Woodward era

Again across the whole footballing world clubs as big as ours have hired inexperienced immediate ex-footballers to take these positions.

What proof is there for this assertion?
None, obviously. Ralf didn’t even talk to anyone about Ten Hag. It’s been widely reported that he’s not been involved with anything other than managing the first team for now.

In regards to Richard Arnold I'm firmly in the "I will not believe it until I see it" camp, emphasis on the "not" part. I'm well over "It has been reported"; "seemingly"; "it is believed"; "are planning" part. We will see where we are in 3 years.

I wholeheartedly agree with you no matter who it was, but even you have to admit what we've seen so far this year in terms of actual football structure, the removal of Scouts, Social Media officers etc is much different to anything we've experienced since Woodward has been in charge, so there's at least something different. Like you say, see where we are within the next 3 years to see if any difference has actually been made but we'd all have to be very ignorant to not see at least some of the things
