Who was his CB partner this season? What type of CB partner suits him best...get the impression him and victor would get trampled!

Yup, tuned in for first 10 mins and he was just chatting shite about nothing in particular. Not even about football but I did learn he drinks lots, does exercise and has an injury/illness.
Howson is like an unfunny Goldbridge.
Going off the comments by his fans on here, his audience consists of other fatties with neck beards that find him relateable.
Exactly. Between Henderson, AVB, Bailey and Tzunzabe there is nearly 100m in sales.
On football manager maybe. We'd be lucky to get 50. Have you seen our outgoings?

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Daley Blind didn't really have an issue with it for us. i remember him pocketing Benteke and Lukaku
He dominated Lukaku in one of the matches we played against them that season. But Lukaku gave him some difficulty in another match we played that season, and he needed Smalling to help him out.

Blind did do better than expected for his size and lack of athleticism, but there definitely were times that it hurt us. Timber seems a far better athlete but still has that lack of height and aerial ability.

We'll barely get anything for Bailly and Tuanzebe. AWB will probably need to be loaned out rather than sold, as his wages limit what clubs could get him. Henderson is the only one we might get a decent fee for as he seems eager to leave for gametime.

Baresi is probably the best CB of all time... it's rare but if your smart enough it's fine to be small.

The one at OT was hilarious where he easily dealt with Lukaku.

Because he was?
He was but that everybody goes to him as the example, a player who retired over a decade ago, shows there aren't many other short CB's at the top level. It's slim pickings.

Sign Timber if he's good but not as a CB. Why take the risk of a small CB in the Prem? Our rivals aren't.

There's no way Maguire or Varane are sitting on the bench so if we are signing this guy then one of them must be going or we are planning on him playing at RB.

I just don't see how we sell Maguire. There's only one club who might be tempted and that's Newcastle. Can't imagine anyone else will be interested given the numbers involved.

They'll have to do if timber comes in and is better, if they don't like it they can leave.

Maguire doesn't exactly have the demand of a top player for it to be a questionable decision to leave him on the bench. After this season it's somewhat justified.

Let's go back to Blind. A very well skilled CB for us who couldn't make it due to his height.
And Pace, and he was actually better at CB than all of our current ones.

Was great in the CL as well for Ajax at CB. Just because Mourinho didnt need him, doesn't mean he failed.

He was a very good player for us, I still maintain that. He didn't suit Jose's style though. Timber is a very quick defender it looks, and quite agile too

Guarantee if we get him he goes on the bench and Maguire and Lindelof/Verane keep their spots.

I have massive time for Daley, he was involved with bagging out last batch of trophies. Every big game the pundits had him down as a weak link against pacey attackers and almost every time he pocketed the attacker. I also remember a cracking goal he scored against Liverpool that was unfairly overshadowed by the Anthony Martial debut goal. Top lad and i was happy for his swansong success at Ajax.

I imagine Chelsea would have been all over this if it wasn't for the sanctions. Seems like a perfect fit for RCB with Christensen and Azpi departing. What's the latest on him to Utd, done deal or just rumoured interest?

Yeah we'd be lucky to hit 60 million really.
I think for Henderson and AWB combined we will get 60m…. I am confident to get another 10-15 min from the other two!! So I say 70m is reasonable assumption…

Add Rashford, Martial: total 70m…. Whatever we say, Rashford will command 40-50m if we put him in market…

I would even put Maquire on market… May be Newcastle will put 40-45m for him….
Remember when city started buying…. They didn’t get the top players right at the start…. They bought players like Barry etc…. Who are definitely good enough to push them higher before they become another city…

Add other fringe players like Jones, Pereira, Telles etc, we can add 20-30 min on top…

So total of 150m from sales ex Maquire and let’s say 150m budget (I am sure we will give ETH money to be successful)…. In 300m… let’s assume we get De Jong 60m…jurrien, 40m…striker 65m, another versatile defender 30m, another midfielder to partner De Jong 40m….a winger 60m….. and I will definitely look to add Eriksen for free….and we are smart we can add another player on a free!!

Here you go… 300m well spent !! Bring couple of academy players on and I think we have a squad to make top 4

No player comes in and is a permanent CB at at top club at 20. He will be back up at best and cover RB if he comes in. Dont really see the point unless he is cheap because we will have to wait quite a while until he matures. Like an Amad signing
So De Ligt didn’t happen? 22 and near 40 appearances per season in the last 3?

I don’t think Timber is ever going to have the ability in the air to play centre half in the premier league, but We shall see if he joins first.

And Pedro too! In all seriousness the way I've seen Ajax fans talk about this guy he seems to be the real deal. Maybe not in a two man paring but we'll see I guess.

People are so obsessed with height, is CB being 180cm too short the new "players older than 27 are too old"?

United minus the Glazers
Had the pleasure of seeing Timber play in person. His athleticism and strength will be an asset especially when cornered into tight spaces. Maguire’s slowness will be even more apparent if Timber joins us

One of my reservations when we were signing Lukaku was how easily Blind pocketed him whenever he played against us.

It was amazing. This slow foppy hair Dutchman who didn't quite look like a centre back had a relatively easy time against what I believed then to be the Drogba regen. Turns out Lukaku is closer to Chicharito than Drogba, despite his appearances.

Considering that ALL of our best CBs in the Premier League era were big dudes (from Steve Bruce to Jaap Stam to Rio Ferdinand to Nemanja Vidic), I say height still matters. There is always the odd exception like Thiago Silva, but they are extremely rare in the business today.
