Qualifying to the Champions League and winning the trophy of the EL is more important than winning the trophy of the 3rd European division yes, because the Europa is a more prestigious competition than the Europa Conference. And CL qualification is the cherry on the cake.

Yes, your attitude of being ok with the European 3rd division and 7th in the league is a lot more noble and ambitious than theirs. You need to show Arsenal fans how it's done
    Right, you’re being incredibly dopey.

I couldn’t care less about this game. 6th or 7th is irrelevant, they’re both total abject failure. I don’t care which tournament we’re in next season, I just want to win it. Would I rather the Europa League than the Conference? Sure, but it’s nothing to do with Champions League qualification, because if we need the Europa League to get into that it’s also abject failure.

It’s important to point out that I’m not going to be calling for the managers head if we don’t win the league next season, so long as we’re making steps towards getting there.

Personally I would go with a mixture of youth and experience (Ronaldo, De Gea etc...). Just choose the players from the first team who care and mix them up with some of our best youth.
There have to be major changes from Brighton. We need to make a statement to the players who didn't show up that day.

Realistically, I think we might not get fourth next year. Failure or not, the EL could be another way for CL qualification. CL qualification means the ability to attract better players next summer and maybe a higher budget - which means, competing better for trophies.

I 100% agree with you on that one, and before even thinking of winning the league, I don't even know if we will get fourth next year as we will be rebuilding.

Yeap that's what I meant. Choose the players who showed up and didn't down tools. Replace the other ones with youth.

Probably have to win this now to avoid conference league :nervous: A draw would have been fine before.

Maybe Brighton will do us a favour

Is a win possible? Playing in the conference league would be an ingnominy for a club of the stature. For once, I would hope the players play with some professional pride and self-respect. Only Ronaldo can be trusted to get us the three points, which might be his last gift to the club.

I haven't got much hope realy how many times in recent seasons we've got anything down there, I just hope we score early and they don't give a feck otherwise its just a draw at best and hoping West Ham don't win. Conference league feck that.

I'm expecting a pretty committed performance from everyone not already known to be off in the summer, given the new manager will be watching.

Only hope is a Ronaldo masterclass.

I think Pogba will start. And despite him being a twat, I do think he'll want to leave with a big performance

With ETH in the stands, let's see if any of the players (not leaving on a free) dare to put in an insipid performance. We will surely be full of desire for this game.

We will bottle this game by the way, just so everyone is aware.

Palace have very little to play for but this group of players will play like they are in a friendly, they have zero bottle and will most likely scrape a 0-0 or lose so the mighty Hammers can take a spot in the Europa League and we can play conference.

I'd like to avoid the conference but don't have much faith in this group and the manager bar Ronaldo.

Our best bet seems to be hoping Brighton get a point or beat West Ham. If West Ham win then a point won't be good enough due to our sorry goal difference. It will be tough for us to win at Viera's Palace.

I'd be asking the players that will be here next season which European comp do you want to play in and to do your very best despite all the differences to secure 6th.

I have been reading many fans (not just you) writing about us winning the EL. I am unsure if fans actually understand that winning the EL is incredibly difficult and we are nowhere near equipped to win a trophy, let alone the EL trophy.

    So, my question:
Do you honestly believe that we have a realistic chance of winning the EL?
And if so, what makes you think so?
    Please give a logical answer.

    Thanks

There hasn't been a major statement made to the players in 9 years and I don't think that'll work now.
Our players have too much power - the manager will take the fall for their lack of effort.

This is a really important game I feel - think there could be a big difference in the mind of some players (particularly Ronaldo) as to whether we get Europa or Conference League next season.

West Ham will be desperate to get Europa as it would show they're cementing their development, and could have implications on the Rice situation.

I fear not enough of our lot will be up for this, and Palace will absolutely give us a game.

I don't think the presence of Erik will have any impact on the players performance. They'll have known he's been keeping a close eye on things ever since he was appointed, and they've still served up shit sandwiches every week.

If it is true that ETH has been watching (as I hope he should) and he turns up to watch us at CP the belief is that this will encourage the Brighton slackers to perform better.
I am sure the new manager is savvy enough to be able to pick out the frauds who suddenly improve compared to the dreadful exhibition we all saw the last time out.
We don't want poor players but we want the frauds even less.

Only hope is that Palace are effectively on the beach. They have nothing to play for, a determined effort should get us over the line. Sadly, not the time for kids.

Either Ronaldo wins it and we get Europa, or this team loses it and we get Conference.

Just have fun and don’t worry most of them won’t be here or near the first team.

Come on and get Ronnie to his 20 goals for the season.

I think we might lose this match but still qualify for the Europa League as West Ham beating Brighton is not certain and a draw wouldn't be good enough for them either.

Instead of taking a crap player and make him play in every position on the pitch to find which is the least crap position for him, it would be far better to each keep him on the bench as a squad player or better still, get rid of him.
I have no doubt that Scott McT will continue to remain with MUFC and we'll continue losing midfield battles.
Despite being so awful, he has lasted through Jose, Ole and Ralf.

Scott's attitude is apparently very professional. The problem is that he isn't good enough to play for a team which aspires to be in the top 4.
Some will argue that we finished top 4 last season and the season before. IMO, this was largely because Bruno carried us on his back and he played out of his skin.

Thats the problem though. We know McT will still be here next season so why dont we give him a shot in another position? McT has got good physical attributes, decent pace and as you say good attitude, he's just too "dumb" playing in the most pivotal area, we need to limit his task and responsibility by giving him limited role. Nothing to lose, no?

Palace will be right up for this last home game.
There’s something like £18m riding on a win for just the final league position alone.
Never mind other commercial add-ons and the player bonuses.
The player bonuses, final home game and the chance to beat Man Utd in front of their own fans, will be incentive enough, before you consider any players putting themselves in the shop window.
