How would the caf have reacted to the Cantona kick?

If the caf had been around then what would the reaction be like?

65 per cent supporting him
25 per cent wanting the club rid of him
5 per cent defending the fan
15 pages of back and forths with the debate somehow ending up on another unrelated topic

Similarly to how it reacted after Ronaldo punched that autistic kid.
Did he really?

In this day and age it would easily be around 95% wanting him beheaded for a vicious assault on a member of a minority demographic.

After seeing it we all went to the yard as kids to perfect our flying dropkicks, was a different world back then. That team was United Royalty.

Someone would have compared it to Fred West is some way and then argued with anyone who criticised them.

Probably would have related it to how Klopp and Pep are dominating the world, then continued the Caf wankfest over Liverpool.

0.1% would have wanted to have been in the place of the fan kicked blessed by this great man.

The question from the OP needs clarification.

Are we talking about Redcafe with the same set of posters and their 2022 attitudes and beliefs or Redcafe as a platform being available, but frequented by a different set of people?

Doesnt deserve his place in the squad after suspension at first, but during that period the feeling would quickly change when we realise we desperately need him back and short term revisionism kicks in

It would have firmly depended on two things...

1) How the team were performing at the time
2) Cantona's PR on the main social media platforms

So since we were good then and he was very popular, he'd have been fine.

There's no consistency on here though. Right now if Ronaldo kicked a fan, it'd be fine and would show how much he cares, how much of a winner he is and why he should be captain.

If Maguire did it, this place would be petitioning for him to go to jail.

You mean the phone he slapped out of a unknown persons hand. I dont think he knew that the kid was autistic.

Have to "love" the moms reaction though: Refuse to accept the apology and refuse his son to meet Ronaldo at Old Trafford because they are Everton fans. All on his behalf.

"No son we are not going to meet Ronaldo, we hate that club"

There'd be a whole thread just for the collective handwringing.

Like Will Smith's bitchslap, I'd laugh my ass off.

How often do you get to see a loudmouth chav getting kung-fu kicked, like once in a lifetime? We have to appreciate and respect these rare and glorious moments.

Also, feck the Karen's who undoubtedly be in an uproar.

The Caf thread on his press conference when he said his legendary line and then left would be awesome

‘Not his biggest fan, far from it, but I wish him the best’

’It wasn’t the best kick I must say. You guys need to look at this Espanyol centre back called Mauricio Pochettino and how he kicks. When he delivers a kick to someone, it’s done with a lot more finesse and grace compared to Cantona’s wild, flailing technique and that’s why I can’t really applaud this action. Trust me when I say Pochkicks are going to be in style soon. I’ve never been certain of anything in my life’

’Anyone got any good picture quality rivers of the match so I can see what happened’

’Get the flight trackers out and track the Cantona legal defence team leaving Manchester, lads’

’Howson is saying he knows the verdict but we need to donate to his Patreon, and Goldbridge is leading the lynchmob on Simmonds. Which one do we pick?’

’Why is Mitten writing some opinion piece on how Ralph Milne wasn’t that bad and not this?’

Cantona's technique was top class, but you just cannot physically attack a fan.

It was so long ago now I'm not sure I recall the season correctly, but did not his absence effectively cost up the PL trophy that season? Sorry if I'm making this up.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has said his only career regret is not kicking Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmonds "even harder" despite his nine-month ban in the aftermath.
Does anyone remember the "Wanted For Treason Against King Eric" T shirts with Simmond's face on them? The little scrote was too scared to leave his house for weeks afterwards......

I'm old enough to remember it at the time, first, listening to the game & incident on the radio, then later on, on video on sportsnight & the news, he had my full support at the time & still has it over 25 years later.

The caf back in the day wasn't politically correct. And that incident even predates the caf, so suffice it to say the vast majority would have backed cantona.
