Mata, Cavani, Lingard and (pray to god) Pogba will go as expected
Grant will get a coaching job but no longer be in the playing squad
Greenwood will either be in the middle of a trial or will have had his contract ended

Henderson, Jones and Martial will push the most to leave. Henderson will get offers, Jones might get a few as well, but Martial won't get any and we'll be forced to keep him.

Ronaldo will try to find a CL club to give him one last contract but 50/50 if he actually finds one that'll meet his demands.

The rest of the total no-hopers - Matic, Bailly, AWB, Rashford etc - will be kept purely because the upheaval would be too big for one window.

For the people who've mentioned Chong, there have been reports we've triggered his 1 year extension. Not seeing it confirmed by the club though.

Also, not sure we can actually get rid of Greenwood until his court case is decided.

Matic and Cavani confirmed so far. Lingard, Mata, and Pogba will probably follow suit soon.

Pereira will be sold for a nominal sum, and then maybe one or two of: Bailly/Jones; Henderson; and Ronaldo will leave.

So that`s Grant, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Mata and Cavani all leaving for free. Suspect a couple more will follow:

Henderson- Depends on Ten Hag. If he`s guaranteed minutes he`ll stay but I just don`t see De Gea being immediately dropped much as I`d want it because he`s still a big presence at the club and dressing room so I think Henderson will leave for minutes. De Gea probably gets phased out slowly and leaves next year though.
Bailly- Been seeking a move for a year, almost joined AC Milan in January, hasn`t started a game since January, very injury prone. Simply don`t see a way back for him with Utd wanting to buy a CB.
Axel- One year left on his deal, several failed loans, poor form during his time here. Contract won`t get extended and at 25 still has decent value so will be sold.
Jones- Free transfer, free loan for a year or sees out his contract in the reserves. Practically a ghost here.
Williams- Did an interview saying he now wants regular game time and could leave if he can`t get it at Utd. Dalot, AWB, Telles and Shaw aren`t leaving so one to keep an eye on.
Pereira- If he doesn`t stay in Brazil he`ll join a European Club. No future here
Chong- Contract got extended by a year for a reason. Will go for a cut price fee due to him being young so has value.
One of Martial/Ronaldo- With a new ST coming in plus Rashford, Sancho, Elanga and one of Pellistri/Amad being options for the wing I fail to see how we keep both Ronaldo and Martial alongside those options with their wages since one of them will have too small a role to justify the money they`re on. Wages will have to be subsidized to make a move happen which I think the club will do.

Seems around this time every year we think they'll be a mass exodus of players but it never quite happens but this summer might well be different

Out of contract
Lingard
- almost zero chance of him staying. May even effectively end his time with us in the next few days
Pogba - if he was going to resign you'd imagine he would of by now
Mata - it was seemingly a tough sell to get him to stay this season where he's played even less than last. He'll surely leave to actually play some games in what's left of his career
Cavani - another one who was a tough sell to keep here for this season. Highly unlikely he'll stay for a 3rd year

Players currently out on loan
Andreas
- one we've been trying to move on permanently for a while now. Reports were the team he's with at the moment do actually want to keep him unlike the others
Martial - leaving for Sevilla today, guess our ability to sell him depends on how he performs

Players who want to leave
Henderson
- would imagine we'd be looking at a loan here rather than a sale as as much as he wants to leave to play he seemingly does still have eyes on being our future number 1
Bailly - has wanted to leave for a while now
VDB - another who has seemingly wanted to leave for a while now after 2 seasons of pretty much zero football
Ronaldo - might be a bit of a stretch this one but if we have no UCL football next season would he stick around to play in the Europa or even worse Conference leagues?

Players who will have 1 year left on their contracts
Jones
- I feel at this point he'll likely stay and see his contract out, may depend on Bailly
Matic - another I feel will likely just see his last year out

So going through the above I think there's probably a very good chance that at least 8 players will leave and that's not counting any youth players like Tuanzebe, Garner etc. Could be quite the clear out
Lingard, Pogba, Mata, Cavani, Andreas and Matic are certain. That is ~ 45-50m of salary per year.

The usual as mentioned here but if we just let Ronaldo go for free would Sporting even want him back for free. He'll make them money from the Ronaldo name, shirt sales etc but he's not good enough to start for any too club, argue as much as you want, he's not.

Yeah, its interesting, I was gonna start a new thread on the wage bill.

Based on various websites, that's 75K, 290K, 160K, 250K, 30K, and 120K a week respectively, and a total of 925K a week.

In the summer we added just over 1.2M to the weekly wages, with Ronaldo (480K), Sancho (350K), Varane (340K), Heaton (42K). We let go of Romero (70K), and James (40K?), so including the out of contract players above a total £1.035M saved. So we haven't actually covered Ronaldo/Sancho/Varane's wages completely, even with all those leaving in the next couple of months. :nervous:

Still maybe missing out on the CL isn't so bad what with the 25% wage for it. We can save another 290K a week just on those 3 signees wages alone, without the rest of the squad. I jest...

  1. Tuanzebe
  2. Pereria
  3. Matic
  4. Mata
  5. Pogba
  6. Lingard
  7. Jones (He better be forced out)
  8. Henderson?
  9. Martial?
  10. Cavani
  11. Bailly (Should be binned)
  12. VDB (Not good enough but we will probably keep him and pretend he can replace Pogba)
  13. Ronaldo? ( I'd keep him and sign a new younger striker as well)
  14. Greenwood (Doubt he will be playing one way or another. Bail is up at end of the month I think)
So we are looking at minimum 10 out. 5+ in needed and youth to fill the rest.

Then we still got Maguire Fred McTominay Shaw Rashford Dalot AWB Telles and a few others who should be on their last chance and be sold if they continue to let us down as they have done forever

Hell the names on that list are terrible so feck me we are screwed if they are the backbone of this side.

I'm very concerned that the names in the keep list are terrible. Next season likely to be very rough. Too long we have been hanging onto failures pretending they'll improve.

I think this list is almost spot on. But maybe VDB will stay and give it one last chance, because Erik Ten Hag is coming. What happens to Greenwood is a big question mark.

I could see Martial and Lingard going to Newcastle. Jones could join a team like Brentford and maybe restart his career there.

8 at least, Lingard, pogba, mata, bially , Jones cavani, matic, and the few on loan, Martial if we can even think Henderson could be sold as well.. there could even be more. The squad is full of not good enough. Keep DDG, Shaw? Varane , Maguire? AWB? Dalot. Mctom, Fred, Bruno, Sancho, Rashford, Ronny.
The? ONES are debatable. The new guy is not going to fix this in 1 window it's going to take 3 to get somewhere.

I mean he's outscored everybody except Salah and son in the Premier league... I think he could probably score a few for sporting

If 24 of 25 players leave, i am 100% sure that that player who is staying, will be Phil Jones.

On what evidence is he not good enough to start for a top club? He’s the 3rd highest goalscorer in the prem, the only number 7 we have had to get 20+goals in a season for us since… he last did it himself in 08/09 season. Without his goals we’d be bottom halve this season, we don’t have another striker that sniffs out goals in the box like he does. He’s still banging in hat tricks ffs in the best league in the world… bet your the type that will say messi can make it at another top club, yet he has what, about 3 goals this season in the French league.

What i think will happen with my give a shite level (10 highest feck given level):

Pogba - 5 (great player on his day - but not going to change our fortunes going forward)
Matic - 3 (getting on now but was occasionally useful)
Mata - 2 (getting on now)
Lingard - 4 (good here and there but he's also getting on)
Jones - 0 ( but at least he gave a feck)
Cavani - 1 (always injured always will be)
Bailly - 6 (shame he was never given a proper run in over Maggy, i think he could have rid himself of the strange errors he makes)
Periera - 1 (not that good usually)
Greenwood - 0 (feck off)
Tuanzebe - 5 (could have been a useful sub but i get it)

All in all, this is going to help us clean house without much effort. Now how can we get rid of Maggy.

The thing is the players that should be sold wouldnt fetch a lot. Maguire and WB wouldnt fetch 60 mill between them and they cost 130. The scouts need to earn their corn and start finding young hungry players that will improve us and cost less than half of what Maguire did. They are out there. Other teams seem to find them.

The priorities are Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Cavani, Pereira and Jones. Anyone else leaving would be a bonus, but those 6 need to be binned ASAP.
If we officially count Greenwood as a given on top, then very possibly Bailly and Matic we know is off too, that's 9 already!

I checked with Jonesy, and he still has a year left! Unbelievable really.

I'll go with the obvious, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Grant, Cavani, Jones, and Ronaldo.

Of the rest people want to see go, you can easily see Henderson, Martial, and Bailly been given another chance, and Pogba ultimately staying.
How is Ronaldo an obvious one, let alone when put in with that bunch who have contributed literally zero this season?

Matic, Mata, Lingard, Pogba, Cavani definitely gone.

Henderson, Bailly, Jones probably gone.

Martial, Tuanzebe, Pereira, Chong likely to come back and go again.

Ronaldo will most likely leave.

MG11 who knows? One of our best players, but for obvious reasons he will probably be binned off.

Feck me we gave a thin squad, and also thin with a lot of shite. I’d like to see us upgrade the likes of McTominay and the full backs, but I don’t think we can change absolutely everything in one season.

Left with

De Gea
Dalot - Lindelof - Varane - Telles/Shaw
Fred - McTominay
Sancho - Bruno - Elanga
???

I would try and sign a CM and integrate Garner. Sign a new striker (maybe 2), a winger and hopefully a full back. Extremely thin still. Major work needed this summer.

He often gets overlooked in these type of threads for some reason but Di'Shon Bernard has been linked with a move to West Ham. Seems to have done well on loan at Hull but he's barely played since they changed manager.

Nowhere near as many as people think will go (should go...); we'll buy a couple more average players, try and sell a few but their inflated wages will be an obstacle, and then rinse and repeat.

Look at Ralf's latest interview. Reckon you'll see a change of strategy this summer with incomings and outgoings

Ralf's latest interview has firmed up my belief that we'll have a clear out and 4-6 new signings.
Grant, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Pogba and Cavani are gone/going for free. Could add Jones too as I don't see anyone wanting to pay a fee for him.
Bailly, Axel and one of Martial/Ronaldo(my guess is Ronaldo because he'll cause a bigger fuss being a Rotational Player than Martial)will be sold. Williams will leave too if none of our fullbacks go.
Henderson will be loaned out not sold permanently IMO then GK situation will be reassessed next year.
So a back up GK, CB, DM, CM(if Garner is loaned back out) and a ST are shoe ins. Depending on Rashford's contract situation and future a RW probably comes too but I suspect it'll be pushed to next summer.

Out: Matic, Pogba, Grant, Mata, Greenwood (trial), Cavanni and Baily or Jones.
Questionable: Rashford, Ronaldo, Lindgard, Martial

In: Really depends on who leaves, but players are needed across the board.

Next years squad is going to look so different.

You'd think so, at the end of the day the board or at least Murtogh and co. have recognised there are issues with the way we deal with recruitment and there's a reason we want to keep Rangnick on past his interim role. Even though the last few years have been complete shit, I think there's reason to be a tiny bit optimistic for the years to come.

Chong will sell for 5 million
Flamengo will buy pereira
Phil Jones to championship or a sunnier country
AWB back to crystal palace for 15 mill
Eric Bailly? He had no playing time. Sell
Lingard back to West ham with Moy sauce

Donny will stay because his passing isn't erratic like Bruno. Bruno has shit games sometimes.

I like Bailly but both his performance and the attitude he has shown fall below the standards that United need to meet again in order to look like Manchester United. He will not get better with us and for the sake of squad discipline he should be among the players with poor attitudes that get the boot.

He is not a trouble make as such but discontented and needs a new environment just like Paul Pogba who I also like, things are never going to work out for him. Nothing but respect for Mata who always gave more than 100 percent and is a very skilful player. I hope he finds a good niche somewhere.

Phil Jones has been at United for too long as an under-achiever, Martial could be very good but like some other young players he lacks mental toughness and I think Wan Bissaka has a good attitude but isn`t good enough technically to provide the calmness and strength in defence that United need. I`d keep Chong and Jesse - very experienced, loves the club and contrary to what some people say he was happy to be a squad player when he was valued.

Another one bits the dust

Who?

A few years back I heard we bought a GK, but I never saw him. If Grant sat in front of me on a train, I wouldn't even recognise him.
We seem to have an obsession with buying multiple GKs that are not needed.

Every decision the club have made in the last few years has been a bad one. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were doing the opposite of what we should be doing.

Lee Grant was signed to allow us to loan out youth team keepers rather than have them stay around as 3rd choice. Not a bad signing at all. He wasn't expected to play.

Agreed - there is nothing wrong with having a guy like Grant in the side. He cost next to nothing, probably had the lowest wages in the squad and also worked part-time as GK coach. On top of that, everyone who has ever worked with Grant says he is a very likeable person, someone who spreads positive vibes .

We'll need 6 signings to offset departures at this rate.
New keeper- For Henderson
New center back- Jones and Bailly
Right back- ETH doesn't fancy Awb
Left back- reportedly Telles wants out.
Two deep midfielders- Matic and Pogba
Versatile forward- Martial and Cavani

Replacement from within
The rest like Mata- Amad
Lingard- Van de beek
Greenwood- already replaced by Elanga

This is going to be one hell of a window.
