Do I just not watch enough clay tennis or do the young guys use drop shots way more than the older ones? Both Alcaraz and Rune use them very frequently and as proper weapons. I don't remember them ever being integral to Nadal's game or anyone else from that generation. New trend?

Was hoping for a fifth set, such a good match. Great play by Zverev, could trouble Djokovic with that level.

Yess. Alvaraz put in his place. Grand Slams are different gravy. Leave them to Djoko/Nadal. You can have your atp masters tournies.

What a great match. Credit to Zverev for holding his nerve there but I think Djoko/Rafa will be slightly relieved to see Alcaraz out of their path.

Bit random.

But feels like a classic Federer beating Djokovic before losing reasonably easily to Rafa type of win for Zverev, a false dawn. This is his biggest win but he's gotta back it up in the semi, and he probably won't. He's shown next to no bite against the true big hitters.

A couple of slams too early for Alcatraz. US open is the one where he's got a real chance if he can stay fit

Despite Zverev's "Escape from Alcaraz", he is going to have to play much better to get past Novax or Rafa.

Alcaraz is one of the most overhyped talents I've seen in any sport. People were already saying he was more talented than the big 3, that he'd win 40 grand slams, etc. Crazy.

That Alcaraz kid still has to eat a considerable amount of pastasciutta.

He's obviously very talented. Even Zverev in his post match said he wants to win a slam before Alcaraz starts sweeping them up.

I agree the US open will be his best chance this year. People would do well to remember he's still a teenager and that the new gen aren't chumps, they were just up against three goats.

This first set hasn't been competitive. Djokovic needs to step it up or this could be a shutout.

Djoko will win this match, looks comfortably better now he's grown into the match. Some insane stuff.

for some reason Nadal always destroys him in first set here. pretty sure that was the case last year (and year before). Djokovic only came alive later in the match.

Novak has absolutely overdone using the drop shot on clay the last two years. Not watched enough of him this year but he would over use it the previous two years.

Did it last year, could have bagelled him but Nadal got poor towards the end of the first set. Two years ago in the final, he bageled Novak.

Saved six break points but got done on the seventh. Nadal looking great, Novak looking tired.

Your predictions with Nadal as always look way off before the matches on RG.

This, right now, is arguably, one of the greatest performances by an 'old man' in history of sports. Beyond ludicrous. The dude looked pretty routine for the most part against FAA too.

I was actually confident last year about the semi-final vs Novak but this time I genuinely had no hope given Nadal's form for the last month and Djoko's form was really good.

Looks like Nadal's level has dropped now. Loses one of the breaks. He really needs to not implode this set.
