Which other managers have made as prescient calls about some future aspect of the game as Wenger and his free transfer prediction?

The man spoke of a market that didn’t exist as anything like a given at the time he made the statement in 2017 and was so bang on that it’s not freakish, just prescient.

What similar statements can you recall other managers making that is on par with what Wenger correctly predicted about a future event?

Honestly, I'm surprised it took players and agents almost 30 years after the Bosman ruling to realize they could get more money from signing-on fees if they ran down their contracts.

Another thing that comes to mind is how Wenger always knew ahead of the rest which players were going to be world class and tried to sign them. It was such an impressive skill, he only ever could reveal these things years later in order not to get exploited by his competition.

I would give Wenger more credit for this prediction if the proximate cause for his statement wasn't his own failure to keep half of his team from running their deals down. He was completely negligent about renewing contracts and selling players near the end of his tenure, which was why Arsenal was the trendsetter club for this phenomenon. When he made this statement in the summer of 2017, Arsenal had at least six first team players who were set to leave for free the following summer, including Alexis, Ozil, and Oxlade-Chamberlain. And Aaron Ramsey was set to leave the summer afterward and not in a mood to sign a new deal either.

35m for the Ox with 1 year left on his contract was a great deal.

True. But that was the only player of that group he managed to sell and Wenger did it extremely reluctantly at the very end of that window.
