The Olympics are in football terms, an under 23 tournament, with a few over age players.

So not really a senior level tournament, so the Nations League being an actual senior tournament, is ahead of the Olympics.
I think if you asked pros would they rather win the Olympics or Nations League they’d say the Olympics.

Depends how old they are I suppose, as the older you are, the less likely you are to win or even play at the Olympics, due to there being so few over age places for each team.

So, the Nations League is the more senior tournament, and the one where it is more level pegging, due to it be open to all ages, no restrictions like there are at the Olympics.

Nations League is regional, Olympics is global. I'm pretty sure someone like Varane would much rather be an Olympic champion on top of World Cup Winner and "Champions League Varane" than have a medal from a tourno played over a bunch of international breaks.

Had no idea Gavi was only 17. Incredible talent.

It always makes me laugh when there is talk of a GB team and someone, like clockwork, will mention Roy Keane.

We are being dominated by Slovenia. It is a pointless game, but still really bad performance.

Great goal by Kulusevski.

All in all Spain and Portugal have to improve for Qatar but no one looked that worried about the draw.

Will try to watch Germany, France and England during the next days, probably the 3 best National Teams from Europe regarding next WC.

But so far from what I have been watching recently would say Brasil and Argentina are strong favourites for Qatar, suspect Spain lacks a extra quality option for CB and a more decisive player on the final third to be included amongst the top 5 favourites.

Sorry to read they are showing this games on more subscription channels, guess it’s not only a problem in England but certainly not helpful.

Has Sky lost the Nations league?
They don't have any euro 2024 qualifiers either! All England games are on channel 4. The rest of NL and 2024 ql on premier sports. There was a game on box nation earlier (Czech rep vs Switzerland) which i have through bt sports but that was it!

Boring game to be honest, but to be fair I doubt any of them puts a ton of care in this tournament.

All I’ve learned tonight is the record international appearance maker and the last person for Ronaldo to chase down is actually my countryman from Malaysia, Soh Chin Ann! Played 219 times for our Golden generation from 1969-84. Why did I not know this beforehand…

Speaking of Ronaldo, when you’re watching him as a neutral rather than supporting him and raging at the same players he’s going apoplectic at, he does throw his toys out the pram a lot  Cancelo, Silva/Horta and Bruno all got it from him tonight, and he only played half an hour. That perfectionist mentality is what makes him the greatest ever though. I’m sure he gets angry at himself a lot as well.

Watching the last 30 minutes of this Mexico v Uruguay match. Some meaty challenges and Cavani playing well. Pellestri was fine, wasn't much involved as Uruguay is favoring their left side, which Cavani floats to and it has been effective.

Nunez hasn't seen any of the ball since he's come on. Mexico has been poor, pretty much standard for most of their time under Tata Martino.

219 times, wow!
Some people don't get to play that many games on a club level, nevermind the national level.

There are plenty of people who have over 200 caps in the women's game, especially those who have played for the American side.

That sounds like a lot, do they have a different international schedule compared to men?

Unique occurence as Rio was hosting the Olympics - it was a once-in-a-century opportunity. Mbappé has been making quite a fuss about playing in the Olympics though (was rejected for Tokyo, but will probably play in Paris 2024, as it reportedly was a condition for him extending his PSG contract).

For the Americans, they play a lot of international games, so there are a lot of opportunities to get a lot of caps.

I found it insane too. I thought Ronaldo had beaten it a long while ago! He’ll definitely play on until he beats it.

I wanted to say he probably wouldn't but he's on 180 something himself so he just might.
Kinda insane.
