Can't believe United fans questioning De Jong's ability after watching McTominay play 170 games in midfield the last few years.
Mctominay who isn't good enough to start for Scotlands midfield to boot.

I mean, barcelona want to sign Kessie for 12M a year. You don't give out those kind of wages to an end of the bench player

It's obvious they've been planning to sell Frenkie all along

Plus, he's not Laporta's signing. The kids are one thing, and they're too good to get rid, but a playee like him, at a club like that, underperforming? You bet politics will come into it too

I dont really get the conparisions to di maria coning here. Van Gaal has always been abit of drill sergeant all his career and has specific tasks for players in his system. Di Maria should have done his homework. Ironically if he had stayed one more year till Mourinho joined us, i think he would have had a very successful Utd career.

Anyway with ETH here and DVB and potentially another dutch player (timber). Its not lile FDJ would feel isolated or anything at Utd.

Yes we are a rebuild job, but securing CL qualification shouldnt be beyond the club and its resources.

FDJ playing under ETH in his preferred role and position for us is a very different player to one being shoehorned into a side at Barcelona when there are injuries. From the videos people have posted on here, he does look a interesting talent with an ability to break a high press and take players out of the game. He would be great on transitions amd counter transitions.

He does look like the link midfielder we have been missing since carrick retired. Hope this can happen.

The Di Maria thing is so boring. Regarded as a horrendous mistake, whereas in reality it cost us £15 million because he’s a great player, and despite it not working and him openly wanting to leave, a club was always going to be wanting him.

Same thing goes for FDJ if we sign him for a similar price. And he’s got a far better chance of adapting to the UK after growing up in Holland.

All taking too long…….it’s different from before though as heard nothing from the Utd side at all - all the noise coming from Barca, who appear to be in for about 20 different players.

Them saying that FDJ is available could well bring some others to the table, all of who I’m sure can offer ECL next season.

Looking forward to signing him and then next summers papers exclusive about the Dutch clique causing trouble in the dressing room.

He's reportedly happy at Barca and doesn't want to leave. We have been a shadow of the club we were for 10 years now and haven't won a major trophy in that time and it's now been several years since we won a minor one. We have no Champions League football. We are poorly run from top to bottom; we've suffered embarrassing defeats to our rivals; reports of discontent and leaks to the press are rife. Fan discontent is growing.
If he does have to leave there are potential suitors out there who are in a much better place than United right now.
Why wouldn't he need persuading to join us?

Wouldn’t mind us signing neves if we can’t get FDJ… he’s premier league proven and won’t be as much of a risk as he’ll cost cheaper aswell. If we get FDJ I still think we’d need a DM to play next to him, where as neves could play the deep lying playmaker role, he’s be good at doing the dirty work as well as spraying forward passes to team mates. Also the Portuguese connection could help us play as a unit in the middle with neves, Fernandes and Ronaldo.

We want both! We want both!

Matt Judge will simply call him and remind him that it’s an honour to play for Manchester United

It's an arranged marriage, but that doesn't mean he won't grow to love us over time.

I don’t get this concept. He does not have to love us, he has to shut up, sign for us and then be professional. No problem as long as he earns his wage. He’ll be happy when we’re winning again. It’s just business…..

But we're not getting both.

It'll be Frenkie de Fred and occasional McJong
We need at least 2 midfielders though. If we go for de jong then that takes a lot of our transfer budget just on the 1 player. FDJ wouldn’t solve our DM issue out. We also need a CB and a ST.

I like Dejong but doesn’t anyone feel we could have gotten 2-3 decent midfielders for the price we’re going to pay for him?

They want him to leave because they've realized he's just not the player they want him to be and he will not become that player.

That’s how my wife pollutes my mind when I’m about to buy something. Always fall for this trap and always regret it. You are cut from the same cloth. Stay away from our Ten hag.

This is a guy who was benched for a 17 year old and a 19 year old last season.

Is there anyone here who's watched him week in, week out? I don't ask to be patronising but to really get a understanding of him, I feel like there's too many people in here wanting this transfer to go through for the dopamine hit without having actually watched him a lot.

I feel like the best way to understand a player is to at least watch their match highlights of every touch for around a span of 10 games - that way you get a feel for their consistent level of play. I watched a lot of games for Sancho for example and it was easy to see how his lack of acceleration in the dribble wouldn't suit us or the PL well and just how many of his goals in the Bundesliga would never happen in the PL.

With Frenkie I get the sense that Barca want to cash in because £75m is a huge sum for a position they have better players in. Would they sell Pedri for that? No. As such I think it's right to be worried about some of the red flags in this transfer.

There are probably gambles out there but I don't have any name of players that are definitely good enough and would cost under 40m€.

What exactly is your question? What red flags conversation do you want to be addressed?
