I guess im biased but looking from the outside It kind of has been in recent years to be honest. Depends what your talking about but the DUP specifically are building up a pretty grim record. I mean an awful lot of the problems associated with brexit can be lay at their door. Blocking abortion services and being dinosaurs is another unpleasant characteristic. Holding the political governance of the country hostage for what, 4+ years at this point. They provide a lot of ammunition regardless of your background.
I’ll give an example. On Easter Monday there was a Republican parade where petrol bombs etc were thrown at police. Zero mentions in this thread. Just wait until July.

I think it's fair to say nationalist "misdemeanours" are definitely not highlighted as much as the other side, but the tit for tat gets very annoying even being on the other side

Thats wrong, a fella put a loaf on his head that said kingsmill and had to resign. Would a DUP member have resigned? would they feck.

Also I dont think point scoring is apt right now

Mocking people who were murdered. One is a disgrace and one is just putting a loaf on your head.

But remember, mocking 10 people being murdered is just sticking a loaf on your head.

What is abundantly clear is there are plenty of cnuts in both sections of the community. They should always be called out for it.

I just came off Facebook and was reading comments about the song incident where everyone rightly condemmed it bar a couple of whatabouts which is the norm sadly.

One I really had to hold back on making a comment was this older guy who said it was sick and nearly as bad as Barry mocking Kingsmill.

Nearly?

It's just unreal to me that people just can't condem an incident without also trying to justify it by bringing up another incident.

Barry is a clown but I refuse to believe he didn't just pick a random loaf and meant the Kingsmill reference. Still he resigned and a unionist equivalent would not have.

People comparing the two are sick.

See this boils my piss. False equivalency bullshit intended to lessen the outrage on a culprit. Show me an AOH or GAA crowd gloating over a murdered woman. I will wait here.

So far the 3 men outed have all been older fellas, I could have sworn the 2 or 3 main people singing were mid 20s at best?

Are you not doing the exact same thing right here?

Were you aware of the incident at the time and did you post in here about it?

Tbf this thread boils down to the exact same nonsense in a more polite form whenever any issue is raised. Perfect example in the last few pages.

Starts off with agreeable condemnation then someone says something and someone draws up a previous scandal and back and forth and back and forth.

A huge, huge portion of NI people simply can’t help themselves, can’t get past the bias and division even when it comes to false equivalence point scoring internet posts. Even the reasonable and forward thinking moderates get drawn to it like some sort of tractor beam for all arguments/conversations

It will always, always be ‘but what about themuns’.

Correct. Parts of NI are like this pressure cooker where everything boils and boils
That’s why i used to love the likes of “holiday projects”. Getting kids mixing. Kids need to experience life out of those pressure pots and see that people are the same with the same worries in life. Otherwise this goes on and on as those kids get older

No, because I don’t feel the need to post every time some Republicans do something wrong. I find it annoying how one sided this thread is though and it’s a joke that Ramshock gets away with being such a massive bigot.

On the anniversary of the massacre he just accidentally decided to put a loaf on his head. And it just happened to be Kingsmill by some wild coincidence. You’re a parody. He’s every bit as bad as those singing that song.

And which is why I’m a huge fan of integrated schooling.

Fair enough mate but most likely nobody else felt the need either. Someone throwing a petrol bomb at a cop jeep in NI is hardly even news at this stage.

Which is fine, but we’ll see what happens come July. When only one side is brought up in this thread when wrong is done, it creates a narrative that only one group of people does wrong. Which is why we end up in this roundabout and why people point to other instances.

Me too. It’s why my kids go to an educate together school now rather than a state school with religious ethos. If I lived back in the north again I’d move to wherever there is the option of integrated schools. It needs to start young

I suppose it depends on what actually happens in July, let's see how it goes.

That's the major hurdle though for integrated schooling, Schools serve communities and have catchment areas. And sadly up here most communities are still largely segregated.

Yep and if NI wants to move on, they need to stop that policy

i had my eyes opened when I moved to Amsterdam and my mate was someone who grew up in a republican background. Came and settled in Dublin and nobody gives a crap about my religion, been here 18 years. People are rightly concentrating on key political issues such as housing, education, welfare etc rather than the political point scoring which is designed to keep those in power. Rather than governing for what actually can improve the country

For ramshock in particular, he doesn't seem yo have made one post at all around the time of the lyra mckee murder.

That's the type of thing/hypocrisy you're talking about

Big time but I suspect it won't chnage any time soon. SF and the DUP wouldn't want their areas of strong support being diluted.

We end up in a roundabout because of people constantly going whatabout and always bringing up another incident to counter the present one which is where you have come in to do exactly that.

Again why can people just not condem what is happening and move on without this

If you follow the whole conversation back it actually came from Deery, misinterpretating one of my posts.

No one actually brought up another incident until I was accused of something I didn't say and they jumped in to defend that.

Yet here we are with people saying we only talk about one side and not the other.

Which inevitably leads to bringing up other things from years ago to try and score points.

Why don't we just comment on what's happening now for what that is and that might actually bed more productive.

Boil away! I’ve never been to an AOH event so can’t comment, have you?
As for a GAA crowd, I wouldn’t class a gathering of fans to watch sports as equivalent to an Orange Lodge. Particularly when the majority of groups attending are families of all ages. Far more likely to hear those sort of chants at old firm games than at a GAA match. That’s not the point I was making.
Are the cnuts in the video any worse than those sending kids out to riot in the streets in Creggan to allow gunmen to take potshots at police? There’s plenty of assholes on both sides holding the rest of us back. The sooner they are identified and shunned back into sewers where they belong the better.

But thats what I'm saying, it wasnt a unionist trying on whataboutism, it was actually deery, due to misinterpretation of a post.

Anyway, you're right, it's descended into chaos at this stage so everyone probably just needs to get back on topic.

Or talk about something happy perhaps.

There must be something surely or something we can all agree on.

I would start but have to go away for some hours
