Wales score against the run of play. Haven't really had a foothold in the game until James bought a couple of free kicks.

Testing ball in from Bale and drew the mistake from Yarmolenko.

Absolute joke of a decision.

What's the point of VAR when refs are too scared to overturn things?

James is one of those players who when he makes a good play and hears the fans roar approval gets tunnel vision and forgets to look for a pass, instead opting to continue dribbling and inevitably losing the ball.

As always, nobody doesn't understand VAR or even rules. It is 100% penalty.

Yarmolenko seemed to be already keeling over before the contact was made. I don't think that was a VARable situation.

Dan James is just tragic, has anyone ever told him you’re supposed to go AROUND defenders and not straight through them? We also got lucky as that was a stonewall penalty too.

He could be practicing his break-dancing moves for all it matters. You’re not allowed to kick opposition players. If you do it’s a freekick. In the box, it’s a penalty. That was an utterly straightforward call.

As far as I'm aware not every contact is automatically a foul and referees ask themselves "is the contact cause for the player's fall", in this situation that didn't necessarily seem to be the case, so it's probably at the ref's discretion whether he wants to rule it a pen or not.

Not every contact is a foul. Kicking an opposition player who has just won the ball of you is always a foul.
