They need to change VAR. The idiots in the VAN should only be used for off the ball incidents the ref doesn't see. For decisions the ref sees he should make the only and final decision and if he isn't 100% sure he can go and watch a reply before making his decision because it's farce at the moment with the way it is set up. Or seriously lower the bar for when they ask the ref to look at replays.

The refs never give anything to be safe because they know it will get checked by VAR and then the idiots in the box never try to overturn anything because they are useless and seem to always find a way for the decision not to be a "clear and obvious error".

Probably been answered but why aren’t wales playing at the millennium stadium?
They haven't played regularly there since 2009. Too much of advantage to opposition, average atmosphere and the home record at Cardiff City ground is very very good.

Can't believe that wasn't a penalty to Ukraine. Its a clear and obvious mistake from the ref.

Why have these games been played at Hampden and Cardiff? Seems unfair to Ukraine

Wait, Brennan Johnson isn't starting? Championship or not, how do you have one of your most naturally talented players sitting for a huge match and instead go with James?
James, Moore, Bale is their regular front 3 so just going with what they normally do. Harry Wilson is more of a regular than Brennan Johnson at this moment in time aswell so he'll probably be used from the bench first given he can play a few positions in forward line.

Just the way the new format for play offs works. Macedonia had Italy and Portugal away (Portugal had two home ties to make world cup).

I like the one off game format in fairness.

Hopefully theres another goal in this be horrible to not make the world cup on what clearly is a dreadful decision, basically cheating its that comical.

Should be at neutral venues though
Asia and Commebol play offs are actually taking place in Qatar so yes it does feel unfair but other european ties already been played and was same format for the euro 2020 play off.

Really? Every time I’ve seen wales it’s always been at the millennium, but then I’ve haven’t seen that many wales games in truth either! Thanks for reply

Not every contact is a foul. Kicking an opposition player who has just won the ball of you is always a foul.
If you watch the replay you can see that Yarmolenko pulls back his right leg (the one that was eventually kicked) after playing the ball instead of completing a normal step. The more I watch the incident the more I believe he knew what he was doing. That doesn't mean a penalty would have been a wrong call, but I think it creates enough leeway for the original decision to stand.

Pretty sure late Gary Speed changed things as they were only getting 15-20k for their final games so no advantage whatsoever compared to intense atmosphere they get in smaller venue.

Yes to have Ukraine cheated out of the WC given their current situation would be dreadful.

I’m disappointed Page didn’t give the order for Ukraine to knock it in an open net. Bielsa would have.

Saw this bit of info after looking for Sweden's squad info:

"Andersson is hopeful of having Anthony Elanga back in the fold this weekend, and the Manchester United winger could even appear in a front three also featuring Alexander Isak and in-form Dejan Kulusevski."

Fingers crossed. He wasn't in the predicted line up though. Lindalove withdrew injured btw.

If a player kicks another player with enough force that the guy's foot ends up in a completely different position/angle due to the impact, it's a foul and a penalty if it's in the box. It's the clearest pen I've seen in ages.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

We played a couple there (England was one, given ticket sales) but felt better to have a full small stadium than half full Millenium.

Ramsay, you nob!

Neco Williams played well today.

Interested if Liverpool keep him around or sell him to Fulham will buyback clause.

Ramsay had to do better there, just no conviction in that shot. Actually a good move from Wales with incisive work from James.

This is what I mean by making up bizarre excuses to make it not a "clear and obvious error". The facts are they were both in the box and Allen goes to boot the ball doesn't get near it and instead boots Yarmolenko in the foot.

Yarmolenko is allowed to put his leg anywhere he wants, if Allen doesn't miss the ball when he goes to kick it it wouldn't be a foul.

Tyler - “I don’t think there’s been an A. Ramsey at the World Cup since Alf, the England manager, in 1966”

the man prepared his shit and we're going to hear it whether we want to or not

After a promising few minutes, James reverts to type and runs down a blind alley after Neco Williams had also got tunnel vision.

Ukraine carve Wales open but can't convert the cut back. Just not falling for them.

It's also plainly not true... He moved his foot prefectly normally and Allen just boots him

VAR is garbage

You can see that he dangles his right foot in front of the defender and there is another perspective where that's even clearer.

James put out of his misery and replaced by an actual footballer in Brennan Johnson.
