Consider the possibility that we replace all these "senior players" with 2nd rate "gems in the rough" from God-knows-where, ala Amad etc....we will in nett become a 4th rate team!

Sure, we beat our chest and shout lets go we got Ten Hag, its 10 more hags that you....then come mid season it looks more like Moyes the II......
We could be in that position come January but the board have picked the guy they think can return the club to where it belongs so sacking him after a few months because they have mismanaged the squad before he arrived is stupid. Regardless of what happens next season he needs to be given complete freedom and trust, similar to what Arteta has had at Arsenal, even if it gets really bad.

Huge amount of change required yes. I still doubt any actual change will happen, as seen with rangnick anyone who comes in and says it like it is is ostracised and hung out to dry. We should have been planning this summer every minute of the last 6 months targets and getting deals done. Instead we have lost a boat load of players and nobody has come in.

remember until recently Luke Shaw was paid a lot more than Harry Kane, Luke Shaw. The problems caused by the previous regime will take at least 5 years of doing the right thing now to sort out. And I’m not convinced we are doing the right thing at all.

Despite Real Madrid winning the champions league they’ve just appointed luis campos as a consultant for transfers etc.

Newcastle have lots of money and make sensible footballing decisions have appointed Dan Ashworth from Brighton, these ideas are the most obvious things that our team requires and yet we are still the same old boys club in the background, too up their own *rses to realise that every moment spent not evolving with the times that we’re getting left behind. Nothing will change this season at all, I’m hoping to be proved wrong but nothing will change, ten Haag will try and implement a style realise that we can’t play it. Try and win players back they’ll have already threw him under the bus, mid table in December and sacked.

rinse repeat. I hope they prove me wrong but we’re stuck in the upside down

My issue is wholly with the board. This rebuild looks even more daunting than what Fergie started with. Yes the departures are necessary and well deserved, but if there is one thing that I am not convinced about is the actual balls that our board has when it comes to spending money and buying someone the manager actually wants.

Suppose we end up not buying a few key players that ETH actually want, what then? We are locked at an impasse...

I have resolved to lend my support but it does nothing at all to the end result. Those whose support can actually result in something concrete are, well, impotent to say the best.

I'm sure that there will not actually be that many signings. The best players won't want to join a club that isn't in the Champions League. A lot of those left - Maguire, Rashford, Bruno etc - have lost form and confidence. Not long ago Maguire missed 6 games through injury and I think we lost 4 of those ( my memory is deteriorating with advancing age), everyone here was saying how important he is to us. Rashford was outstanding, as was Shaw, Bruno. De Gea might be a great shot stopper but because his distribution is shit, he creates chaos at the back, but everyone blames the defence. These players are good players but we are too quick to rubbish them. Will we give Ten Haag time? Sadly not, I fear. Fergie needed time, Klopp needed time. We must show patience

United will always attract players based on the name alone, not to mention the way they throw money around for the right players. When was the last time the club also spent more than one consecutive season outside of the CL?

United aren’t Tottenham, they need CL to be relevant. Everyone knows United will spend big and get back in the CL sooner or later. Joining United now is the best time to make a claim to be an important player for years to come, it’s harder to do that in an established team that is recruiting from a position of strength.

So far those out of the doors are players with expired contracts!!

I can understand us not getting a single player despite we being the team in desperate need of recruitment.!! But not able to see the deadwood for few quids is repetition of previous years!!

Baily, Martial, Jones, Henderson, B Williams, AWB, Telles….

Contrary to popular opinion… I will add Rashford, Elanga, Garner, Mctominay to the list and rebuild with quality!!

We don’t need a big squad next year as the only focus should be on top 4 with Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and us fighting for it…. Add one of the outliers in WH or another one!! Just plz don’t focus on any cup competition…

Have 15-16 quality players for 11 positions for 38 games….

I didn’t think I’d say this but improving the players that stay fitness levels and motivation will be key. I was very much in the sell the lot of them camp.. but it’s not realistic, so ETH getting a tune out of the players we got will be key.

Sprinkle some quality into the first 11 and we’re not actually too bad.

Bissouma (or similar sort of player, court case etc) ) de jong, Antony, timber, Nunez added into our squad along with bringing some youth through and garner back and we look semi serious. Also would be looking at some freebies to bulk up the squad. Wouldn’t mind Eriksen for example. Top player, great attitude and professional, exactly what we need, will inspire younger players.

Absolutely disagree…..we will make the same mistake again and pay for it at end of the season!! Most of them have players under more than two managers and issues still remains !!

Yes but the fact is we’re not going to sell every single one of these players and replace them in a season, so for next season he has to work with many of them. Eventually I’m sure they will all pretty much move on but Rome wasn’t built in a day. If he can turn some of these guys around and add some quality, then it’s win win.

All I see is sideways and standard moves.

Huge change in players out is only the players that are out of contract and/or want to leave. Thats not cutting edge squad changes. Selling a Maguire or a first team player in contract would signal real change. Like Guardiola did with Joe Hart. At the moment it just looks like the same 'start from scratch everyone gets another chance' line that is always spouted with new managers.

Back room is the same as the players changes - You hire a new manager then he will bring his own staff and the same with Murtough. They bring their own people in. That's just standard practice. Maybe the new people will be better. Lets see. But its not exactly cutting edge either. Bringing in a DOF or hiring people that are not connected to the club for example would signal real change. Fletcher and O'Boyle dont scream best in class new era to me.

Rangnick as a consultant was the only lets try something different move. But that scared the sht out of them so they binned it sharpish

It definitely has to be a summer of massive change because Manchester United cannot stumble on from crisis to crisis any longer.
The whole ethos of the club is badly flawed and is not capable to success.

Apparently Murtough didn't have much sway until Woodward left and Arnold was put in place either

What I like about the new structure is that it's much easier to replace a failing DOF instead of trying to find one guy that knows how to run a youth, women and men's team.

I agree. I think alot of fans are going to be disappointed by a underwhelming transfer window.

We won't get anywhere near the amount of new players we need.

Of course we won't but I think we will bring in enough quality to be top 4 next season which is all that matters for now. If ETH can get the remaining players on board and the 3-4 new players are upgrades on what we have then we will be fine. It will take 3+ years of decent transfer windows and buy in from the current players to even think about competing for the PL/CL and thats if it goes well.

I'm 100% OK with that.

Maybe you should first read up on fletchers job, not his title because they don’t match.
Fletcher has as much experience as butt did when he was developing the pathway to the first team. A job he did pretty well until he decided to batter his wife

You will be more disappointed if you’re setting yourself unrealistic targets which a lot of folk are doing. We are not going to replace the full team in one window.

With 8-12 players leaving I'd expect 6 signings this summer.

If 6 is too much for us then we'll probably fall short of the top 4 again with the loss in squad depth.

How so, only matic and Pogba had real first team appearances

I think we will make 4, 5 if an opportunity comes up. The rest will be a cleared space for the youngsters to make their mark. Something we need to do so that we can tell who’s making it and who isn’t

Next season we won't win anything. It's going to be all about progress. Getting top four would be an amazing achievement.

United normally sign 3 players in the summer windows, and I expect that to be the case again this window.

CB, CDM and a Forward are obviously the priority, and if we can make some sells, then a right back might be acquired.

As United have briefed, they want "evolution not "revolution".

3 high profile signings and 2 cheaper ones is reasonble to expect. If we are effective in selling players we might get a fourth high profile signing. Lack of progress with Timber and Frenkie is a concern if nothing happens this week.

If that is the case we won’t get anywhere with that squad. If the club actually tried to do smart busy early eg getting players on free transfers, we could have revolution. Continually assuming Bailly, Jones won’t be injured and ‘will do a job this season’ is why we are so far behind. Pay their contracts off and get them gone. Even replacing them with players that stay fit would be progression.

We need at least 2 MF. Anything less than that and season will over by Christmas.

Whats the point in paying off contracts? Never understood that argument.

We effectively did it with Sanchez, and nobody complained.

Edit: Also people will often accept an up-front payment that is less than the full amount due. Though if high inflation is here to stay we’d be better off not paying up-front.

Because they’re never fit and spend more time on the injury table. Boot them out and sign two players who are fit and available. When Maguire and Lindelof are playing shite or are injured there are players to come in. We don’t have that with Bailly and Jones. Jones has played less than 10 games for 3 seasons in a row. It’s crazy he’s still playing for us.

But why pay them their entire salary up front? That's just the same as if we kept them, minus the one in a million chance we can use them. Better to just let them go on a free and keep them til that happens.

Surely the number one priority is sorting out the dressing room. Who is fighting with who and who is downing tools. No point doing anything else until this is sorted. If its Rashford, Maguire and Ronaldo for example or De Gea and Sancho. It doesnt matter who, they need to go. This all seems to be forgotten
I think we will be fine when Lingaard and Pogba leave..
