Or maybe he actually wants to fight for his position??

Feck me, we constantly highlight the need for players to want to play for this club, yet when one of our young players states they want to fight for their place the fans moan and whine.

Just do not understand some fans.
There are millions of young players around the world who would fight for a place at United. Doesn't mean they are good enough

We could get 10 - 15m for Williams. We have to learn to make quick decisions. He spends the season on the bench doing nothing and suddenly, he's half that value.

How would we know? By all accounts we seem to disregard everything they say and either just buy who the current manager has some good feels about. Or whoever the fans are clamouring for on social media.

I know everybody is excited about EtH coming in, but if this article is true, isn’t just signing whoever the current manager wants, something we all agreed was bad and we wanted to move away from?
I mean, if we bought players he didn't like, that's a recipe for disaster as he wouldn't paly them.

In a world where we can't get a fee for Henderson, then we aren't getting that for Williams, we'd probably even struggle to get that for Garner if we wanted to sell.

From who? Another who will be on wages way above his quality.

I think the Raum rumors are more real than we think. With that tweet about Williams I think it's too coincidental that we're open to moving him if he wants to but they are not guaranteeing him minutes. Telles I think will move on as well, I'm sure there's a team out there willing to take a flyer and we didn't pay much for him anyway. Wasn't there a Porto link earlier this summer? This is definitely gonna be a late in the summer deal, or we're looking at this as a next summer deal but making inroads early.

It's not on the priority but it's good to send out feelers right now.

Right, but I'd rather a player fight for his place yet not be quite the grade then a player not out in the effort.

Strange that some fans wouldn't want that, as that's largely why we finished where we did last season.

Desire and work rate go further than lazy talent.

I'd say theres a gulf in wages between Henderson and Williams

the main factor why we cant get fees for so many players we want to move on

Oh thank goodness that we are fully focused on one player! It would be far too difficult for a club to negotiate with more than one player at a time!
Being focused on one player doesnt mean we're working just on one transfer.
I really dont know when will the myth of us doing one transfer at a time go away.

I really don’t appreciate innocently coming onto a forum and being exposed to a tweet from a banned source.

I am outraged.

Disgusting behaviour.

A free forum should be run better than this.

Please tighten up the leaking ship before it sinks.

Tuesday ruined. I might not go to work now.

You can't really criticise Ten Hag for wanting to see in person what players might be receptive to his training methods before selling them, nor can you slate players for wanting to show the new boss what they might be capable of.

Probably when we start getting deals done quickly after each other and not weeks apart.
At this point the myth is that we are able to work on 2 deals at once!

I agree there’d be little point in signing a Fellini for a team that wants to play like pep, but surely there’s some middle ground. There were plenty of stories about how Salah wasn’t really on Klopps radar with him ideally wanting other options before the scousers scouting team told him Salah was their preferred option. The idea being they knew they’d probably get their money back on him if it didn’t work out.

I dont have an issue with this?
Eric, when at his best is our second best defender, and maybe Ten Hag can help him become more consistent.
Despite the fact he's injured all the time, he's also an accident waiting to happen. Should definitely be moved on. Had enough of these unreliable (in terms of fitness and/or performance) players.

Well we know Ten Hag is ruthless, so I am not worried. Either Eric will become consistent or not, and if the latter is the case Ten Hag wont use him and he will be moved on.

I hope you're right, in that ten Hag will have that kind of flexibility with the playing staff. Will believe it when I see it though.

Well yeah, he's a championship level (at best) player on champions League wages.
I know you're using hyperbole for effect, but he definitely isn't. The real issue for me is will Martial actually take on instruction. He's a very natural player with his ability, but if he's not going to do anything Ten Hag asks of him, he'll just rot on the bench again.

No one is taking martial this year. He had a crap season at United, barely played and then had an absolute nightmare at Seville.

No one is taking him for £20M let alone £40M

considering his work ethic, i doubt ETH even has him on the bench. This feels like another contract that just has to run out, or we are paying some of his wages to go away.

And fitness and conditioning. Hasn’t had the ability to finish a full season without any injuries since 2020
